SteelSeries - Arctis Nova 7 Wireless

I’ve been gaming on my PS5 with the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P for a few months and it’s been solid.

Eh. I ended up with the Arctis and not bad. Still miss my Astros but more control and better audio with Arctis. Mic quality on my end is kinda ass and it sometimes disconnects when I first turn the PS5 on.

As someone who owns wireless nova 7’s and wired 7 pros, no fucking way would I spend 600 on these. Sonar GG is arguably one of the worst peripheral softwares on the market and I won’t spend another dollar on steelseries until they develop something better

I went from gaming headset to a DT770 about 10 years ago, went through all sorts of different headphones, amp stacks and went down the rabbit hole for a bit. A couple years ago I sold my DT1770 and Schiit stack in favor of the Audeze Maxwell. great headset but it has some issues. Not at all as good as the hype wants you to believe.(Music is amazing, gaming is OK, Durability of those drivers is shit, software is even shittier) Started using that at work for music listening and calls instead and got a basic Steel Series Arctis Nova 7 at home. Also decent, especially for the price. Recently I got an audio interface to fuck around with my guitars and amp plugins. And I tried my old DT770s again through that. The sound is so much clearer so I’m back to using studio headphones again. Thinking I’m gonna get the DT700 and throw those old DT770’s back into my drawer, always nice with a backup I guess.

I’ve bounced between a few PS5 headsets and the one that’s stuck with me is the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P.

I have had the SteelSeries for more than 3 years and they are perfect, they sound good and they are very comfortable even when wearing glasses (for me it is important)

No, the microphone works correctly, when I play no one complains about the microphone

honestly you can’t really go wrong with most of those.cos most wireless headsets sound good enough for ps5 anyway. but the real difference shows after a few hours of wearing them. stuff like clamp pressure, padding, and headband weight make or break long sessions. also check how each handles cross device use. some headsets (like the nova 7p) make switching between console and pc or phone easy. also [this guy](https://medium.com/@bnazir592/my-pc-setup-journey-wireless-headsets-were-the-hardest-part-to-nail-down-53f6c38dfef6) started building a pc and grabbed some dope components. like the corsair keyboard and asus monitor. he also picked the steelseries nova for the headset. so you can also check what he has to say about it. the sony pulse 3d sounds nice but has weaker battery and doesn’t feel as comfy for marathon gaming. if you play late at night or share a space then closed back designs help a ton. cos they keep sound from leaking and block background noise better. and whatever you get, just update the firmware before judging the mic quality. cos a lot of them improve after patches.

Steel series makes some absolutely amazing headsets. I have used hyper x, Corsair, turtle beach, the original ps head set, Logitech, and the one that stood out the most and I have never put down is the steel series arctis nova 7.

Logitech G Pro X would be a very good gaming headset, and a reasonable daily use pair of headphones. They're far from audiophile quality, but they don't look too gamer-y, and they're pretty well built. They are probably a bit out of budget, however. I currently use a pair of Steelseries Arctus Nova 7s, which I really quite like. They're very comfortable, decent looking, mic quality is good (and mic is fully retractable), battery life is very good. I don't use them as daily headphones, but they have both 2.4ghz wireless and Bluetooth, so they absolutely could be. Again, they're not audiophile grade cans, but they're really quite good, especially for a gaming headset. No ANC though, which could be a downside. They're also pretty pricy. I thought they might have come down a bit in price since I bought them, but it doesn't look like they have at all (if anything they're more expensive). But they're not that new, so you can probably find them on special, or they should drop in price if SteelSeries releases an updated version. The only other recommendation I would make is to see if you can find a pair of Sennheiser/EPOS gaming headphones on sale. Sennheiser spun off their gaming headsets to EPOS a few years ago, but it looks like EPOS isn't doing them anymore either. They were awesome; genuinely fantastic headphones with extremely good mics. The GNP series was very gamer-y in it's styling, so I'm not sure you'd want to wear them out, but their old GameOne headset was fantastic. It's pretty old these days though, so I'm not sure how much luck you'd have with finding one, or how well their connectivity would hold up these days. Otherwise, I'd actually look at going the other way. Look at a decent, normal pair of headphones, and look for reviews on their mic quality. There's a few sites, like soundguys.org, that always include mic samples in their reviews.
