r/MechanicalKeyboards • /r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - August 12, 2025 ->evo80/evo 75 but if you were looking for something with the dedicated macro keys there are not really options like that on the l3 he is really limited to linear switches. there are few tactile switch options because whats the point of adjustable actuation if you cant change where the bump is and i would say it doesn't do much for regular everyday typing. and it really does depend for gaming would you really need it for games if you play like slower paced single player games
r/MechanicalKeyboards • /r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - November 19, 2025 ->not a ton of boards with clicky switches out of the box these days if you would be fine with lego like assembly evo80 and swap out the switches for clicky switches. it is a trimode board that is a tkl
r/MechanicalKeyboards • /r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - November 19, 2025 ->Hey guys! I just bought my boyfriend the Evoworks 80 in the anodized ink color way with HMX azure switches and I am in LOVE with the sound of it and would love to get one for myself! The only thing I’m not thrilled about are the keycaps and would love to change them to an all-black backlit set, preferably PBT with clear lettering to see the RGB more. I was looking at this set: https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/products/vortex-black-backlit-126-key-oem-profile-double-shot-pbt-keycap-set and this set: https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/products/ducky-black-seamless-backlit-108-key-oem-profile-double-shot-pbt-keycap-set Would either of these sets be compatible with the Evoworks 80 considering the Evoworks is a TKL keyboard? Would anyone have any other recommendations that fit what I’m looking for? Are there things I should look for specifically for compatibility? It’s my understanding that any MX keycaps are compatible (but I am not sure which brands are). Thank you in advance!
r/MechanicalKeyboards • /r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - November 18, 2025 ->I have an evo80 and think it is great. If I were to have to choose again, and since I already have some keycaps and switches I would use I would probably get a neo80 since it wouldn't make sense to pay for keycaps and switches I wouldn't use. But if you don't plan on switching that stuff out the evo80 makes sense. I got mine from Milktooth.com. Just checked, looked like they have at least a few of the colors in stock and actually have it 5% off and free shipping don't know if we are allowed to give shout outs about specific vendors, but I do think Milktooth is on the list of good vendors, my experience with them has been great.
r/keyboards • Looking for some suggestions on my first mechanical keyboard ->If you want mechanical (usually more satisfying sound, less expensive to customize and more options to do it) - try Evo75, Evo80, Akko/Monsgeek series, Keychron/Lemokey, Womier, similar. Most of them being hot-swappable will allow you try switches with different weights or sound profiles if you don't like or get bored of existing ones. If you play competitive video games at higher ranks - might want to look into HE (Hall Effect) keyboards. They are currently not as customisable and more expensive (switches are expensive, less choice and sometimes depends on the keyboard model), and may not sound as great as a good budget mechanical. Some of the companies listed above also have HE models, there's also more premium offerings, like Hex80. For these items in Europe, check shops like MonacoKeys, Coffeekeys, CandyKeys, KeyGem, MaxGaming, AkkoGear de or eu.
r/keyboards • Gaming keyboard recommendation (Budget: 120 EUR) ->Gaming is a loaded term since it sort of implies you want a HE board which massively limits your options. If you are fine with a normal mech keyboard, the neo75 cu is a good kit that you customize to your liking. If you want RGB, a rainy75 or a bridge75 are prob good options. If you are fine with a tkl, the Evo80 is pretty nice out of the box and is very easy to customize.
r/keyboards • 75% Aluminum gaming keyboard with creamy sounds ->evo80 is probably the best TKL i've come across so far. they're like 10 bucks above your budget if you're willing to spend a little extra.
r/keyboards • Keyboard Recommendations ->Evo80 is the best ready-made. If you want fancier or more expensive than thst, check out AngryMiao or Mode.
r/keyboards • Looking for Keyboard recommendations ->This is not true anymore (in my opinion). Keychron definitely has the most layouts and the most international options, but they're not the best, and they're not cheap. QwertyKeys has a wide range of option in their DIY Keyboard kits. Their QK and Neo keyboards are much better than Keychron. Monsgeek is also good. And if you want good prebuilt keyboards, the Rainy75, Bridge75, Crush80, and Evo80 are all fantastic. And if you want a budget keyboard option, check out the Kisnt.
r/keyboards • What are some good wired keyboards you guys recommend? ->I’m a little late to the party, but reading your post took me back to my own keyboard journey over the past few years. I started with a SteelSeries, then transitioned to a GMMK PRO, moved on to a Varmilo Minilo Pro 98% with Prestige Silent Switches, and now I’m using an Evoworks Evo80 with Oat & Poly. The Varmilo is fantastic—super comfortable and exceptionally quiet, which is great when you need something discreet. But the Evo80 just feels incredible in every way. It has a noticeably more premium build and a superior overall typing experience. If I had to choose, I’d definitely go with the Evo80.
r/keyboards • Keyboard Suggestions 2025 ->\> What is a good gaming keyboard (wired) to use as a starting base? Do you want a gaming focused board or a custom board?? Because these 2 are very different. If you want a CUSTOM board that can game, get an Evo80/75 for that budget. However, if you wish to buy a "base" - a barebone kit I suppose, then get the TKD Pt.1/75 for 75% or the Neo80 CU for TKL 80% \> Can I use individually purchased switches on any keyboard? As long as they are the same type. Mechanical switches need to go with mechanical/TMR keyboards. Hall effect switches need to go with HE/TMR keyboards. Optical switches need optical keyboards. Low profile switches need low profile keyboards. \> Can I use custom caps on any switch/keyboard? Yes. Keycaps exist for a reason. The only requirement is make sure they are using MX style (having a cross stem) and the set can fully fill that board's layout.
