"I have two, mx518, 20+ years old and 15+ of that was daily use. Still works. ... Zero issues with either ever. ... for daily office use I'm sure it would last for years still."

"it delights me to hear that there are mx518s still in use. ... I was so sad when mine finally gave out a few years ago. ... I've held onto its corpse in case I ever have the time to learn the skills to try to repair it"

"I still have and use mine going on 19 years. ... Had to replace the cord at one point."

"I use the two side buttons as an extra ctrl and alt if my hand needs more focus on the WeSAD movement."

"If the game has all the handy stuff in a 15 key 1-5 c1-5 a1-5 then maybe I'll bind it to 9 and 0 for ultimates or movements or things I wouldn't use reguarly but still need a key for."

Actually,  that isn't what I want. What I want is a brand new  mx518, but I just refuse to pay like $150 for a $50 mouse - and that hero sensor has been around half a decade  Newer doesn't automatically = better, especially with mice

Try looking for a sealed MX518 on ebay or an online seller. Might be your best option.

Although its a G5, I really hope they bring back MX518 back. I should've bought 10 when Legendary Edition released and not 1. I hope they do a wireless one.

Too bad that they scamed people with the 518 remaster with a big downgrade on quality

I had a MX518 for about 10 years before the scroll wheel finally crapped out on me. Still the best mouse I ever used. I bought a MX518 Legendary to collect years ago, it's still in it's box.

I use a wired Logitech G400s and a Logitech MX518 Legendary, BUT, I replaced the left/right click switches with Omron D2FC-F-K (50m), the blue switches. The original switches on the G400s went bad after 5+ years of use. The original switches on the MX518 were horrible feeling. It was like pressing on a piece of really soft rubber. I liked the mouse otherwise, so I replaced the switches. Warranty be dammed!

"Finalmouse Classic Ergo", followed by the good old "MX518" were the only ones that really worked for me (I've tried a lot from Razer, Logitech, Lamzu, Zowie, Vaxee, Xtrfy, etc.)

I went from MX518 to G5. The G5 had adjustable weights in the tray, as well as replacement grips, which could really change the overall size and shape of the mouse, or different textures - one grip was smooth, another textured. I've now moved onto the G502 Hero - another good sized mouse, adjustable weight, plenty of buttons and software to support remapping them. Nice having a dpi thumb button to help with sniping, having that bound to a much lower dpi for precision work, and much higher for normal.
