Logitech G - G5 Laser Gaming Mouse

I had the same mouse for 10 years. That’s a fine piece right there!

I went from MX518 to G5. The G5 had adjustable weights in the tray, as well as replacement grips, which could really change the overall size and shape of the mouse, or different textures - one grip was smooth, another textured. I've now moved onto the G502 Hero - another good sized mouse, adjustable weight, plenty of buttons and software to support remapping them. Nice having a dpi thumb button to help with sniping, having that bound to a much lower dpi for precision work, and much higher for normal.

Still rocking my G5 coming up on 20 years! I have yet to find a modern mouse that replicates the shape, size, and weight of the G5. I have big hands and like my mouse to fill my palm. If anyone has suggestions for a modern equivalent, please speak up!

I'm not a heavy user. But the G5 is built solid.

I bought that G5 upon launch back in 2005. Used it for about 10 years than I gave it away to my friend who’s used it another 10 years. I just got it back from him and it was a complete mess. Cable is broken, scroll wheel barely works, grease all over, the worst I’ve seen so far. This pic was just after cleaning the whole thing with alcohol. I have jet to replace the cable, scrollwheel, skates and clean it on the inside. Technically it will be as good as new again, but the outer shell won’t get better than this.

Been rocking the g5 since 2018 when I bought my last PC. Had a wired one for years due to the cost of the wireless one. But man when I switched I was wondering why TF I didn’t go wireless sooner. It is a fantastic mouse for large handed folks. I tried the g pro wireless and I could barely claw grip it lol so I returned it for refund.

I still love the g5/g7. I'd still use the mx518 if it wasn't so outdated technologically.

I had that mouse, too. Awesome mouse, but mine didn't make it nearly as long as yours.

logitech g5 since around 2007. it still works great but i finally retired it this year for a new roccat tyon i couldn't pass up on

Oh yeah. Some gamers used the Microsoft Intellimouse before Logitech released the MX series. I played with the Logitech G5 for ages—it had a plate you could put weights on and put into the mouse... crazy times 🥹😂
