Hey do you want to be my friend? My house is dying and i need a new one, and you seem to be a man of fine taste On another note, tell me more about the 630 please I wanted to get those but found the stax spirit s3 for 350% cheaper , currently using them and they're great. I tried the M4 and wasn't impressed , at all.

I would look at the Edifier Stax Spirit S3. A Bluetooth headphone that *does NOT* use or even have ANC capabilities. It uses a Planar Magnetic Driver along with having a very long 80 hour battery life. Its tonality though is definitely what sets it apart from other wireless headphones (along with using a planar Magnetic Driver). I’d say it’s a mix of the HD600 and Harman Target. Honestly one of the most neutral wireless closedback headphones I’ve seen. It actually has bass extension…unlike the Sennheiser 600 options but I’d say more extended than the 490 pro as the S3 is a planar which typically results in more sub bass extension.

Do not get the M50X. The original was terrible and BT version is even worse. You would be much happier with an Edifier Stax Spirit S3. Also definitely don't get XM4, their tuning is even worse than M50X and if you disable the ANC there is no selling point.

r/HeadphoneAdviceHow does Audeze Maxwell fare against non-headset headphones (wired and wireless) within its price range?

closed backs not rly(for music) but there are stuff better for gaming even from closed backs, maxwell is overhyped for gaming specifically, it's not that good, but it's wild that for music it's best if you compare to other closed backs even wired, tho I prefer Edifier Stax Spirit S3 over it a bit, it's same Audeze drivers(Edifier used to be part owner before Sony bought Audeze) just with different coating, it can't do 2.4GHz, it's worse build quality(but a lot lighter) and it also isn't rly good for gaming, I'm talking from music perspective

Bathys with a bit of EQ is great, but EQ would do a lot for your current one as well. Edifier S3/S5 have ready presets and sound great with just them.

r/HeadphoneAdviceWhat’s the best over ear headphones? Less than $350 would be great. Looking for a pair that would actually cover my ears

Whoops, missed the tag. Bluetooth stuff especially benefits from EQ as they sound pretty garbo most of the time. Edifier S3 is one good decently priced exception, but S5 and Focal Bathys are the next good ones, but pretty pricy. S3 has no ANC, but sound great with the presets in the app.

r/AudezeWireless headphones with better sound quality than Audeze Maxwell for purely music listening? Budget ~$500
9 months ago

Recently got the Edifier Stax Spirit S3, and to my ears they sound way better than the Maxwells which I intended to use for music not really to game with (got both the PS and Xbox versions and ended up returning both as again to my ears they sounded a bit too harsh and had distinct channel imbalance, with the upper frequencies hitting stronger on the right side, annihilating my right eardrum within 5 minutes of listening above 70% volume, a damn shame because they sound amazing) The S3’s being also planars, sound more musical and punch way above their budget (I got mine discounted for about $140) I wouldn’t justify getting them for more, as they have no NC and the build quality leaves much to be desired, however the sound is ridiculously good and battery life is crazy +80 hours, still haven’t charged mine currently at 30%, been using them for the past 3 weeks.

Looking for new closed back headphones because I DESPISE my Edifier Stax Spirit S3, which are my only headphone and have been sitting in storage for 2 years. Budget: Under 300 quid, will be buying used headphones. Country is UK Source: I would like bluetooth for my phone and also passive wireless from my DAP's lossless files (NW-A306). I am not asking for 2 headphones, but just one that can do both. Isolation: Good passive cancellation preferred but not required. Dont care about ANC at all. Public: Yes Headphone type: Closed back over ears Tonal balance: Preference for bass, but more importantly I DESPISE highs, like them to be subdued. Letshuoer S08's are a good example of something I like Past headphones: Afformentioned Stax S3 hate the amount of highs, and mushyness lack of detail. Moondrop Chu II I loved, but they broke on me. Tangzu Wan'ers were nice but not bassy enough. Letshuoer S08s are my current - I love them plain but adore them with bass boost. Battery life: Not fussed really Prefered music: Lossless music spanning most genres but common music I listen to is emo, post hc, punk, metal, IDM, pop punk, dubstep, breakcore, indie rock Improvements: Want actual audio cans, not in ears, that are detailed, no hissy sibilant highs (and doesnt require EQ to reduce them). Also, Stax S3's have terrible audio leakage, less would be better so I could use them in public, but the reduction of highs is far more important. I would prefer not to have to use EQ to get a good sound as I would be using them to watch videos on my phone, and I do not use EQ for that.

r/headphonesSubstantially more accurate over ear closed headphone than S4R?

May I ask what the usecase is? Just home listening or out and about? Wired or wireless? ANC or passive? I own a couple of headphones including Stax SR-Lambda Signature, SR-007, SR-404 Signature, Audeze Isine 20 among many others. If you want wireless I think you should consider one of two: Audeze Maxwell and Edifier Stax Sperit S3 (or the upgraded version S5 that I can't speak on). The Maxwell is laid back and warm with a strong (but not to strong) bass. It's easy to equalize with the Audeze app, but with that said, the app is also quite unstabile in my experiense. The S3 delivers a more detailed and analytical sound with a more sparkling treble and less bass. With the Edifier app you're able to choose between 3 EQ settings. The none of the settings sounds perfect to me, as the come off as a little thin but the sound is kinda close to the Stax house sound more so than the sound of the Maxwell. I think they are quite okay for the price. Iv'e owned more than ten pairs of Stax, so I consider myself an experienced Stax user. ;)

I've heard good things about the CMF Headphone Pro, Soundcore Space One Pro, and 1More Somoflow Pro. They're all available for under $100 and have smart features. If you want perfect sound and aren't interested in features like ANC or transparency mode, I recommend looking for a pair of used Edifier Stax Spirit S3s. I got mine new for €150, and the audio quality is amazing, especially when I use them wired with a dedicated DAC.
