My tips: 1) If you can, buy well known name brands from BestBuy or other reputable place, that will honor their returns and warranties. 2) If you find something used on FB marketplace, make it a local thing, so that you chat with the seller, and if your gut tells you this is a bad deal, then walk away. 3) DON'T send anyone a nickel in advance for anything. Lots of scammers out there willing to sell you world for cheap, making you feel like you got a deal, then ghost you. --- Imagine 7 years ago when I posted online that I was looking for a puppy, and boy, the scum that came out of the woodwork looking for advanced payments was unreal. Back to projectors. I got a new BenQ TH575 from BestBuy 3 years ago, and it's been beautiful. Then 2 years ago I got lucky and bought a used Epson Home Cinema 1060. It's been a beast. I use both projectors at two different spaces. For the Epson, I like that I can find the bulbs through AliExpress for $12. Mind you, not the highest of quality, but they do the trick. Other people will hate that, but I need to save money when I can. I think for $1,000, you can find something good from BestBuy. Not their marketplace. But from the store itself. 1080p. Not sure if you'll find 4K. Good luck.

It's good. Many of us have been down your road, till we understand that there's always better projectors that can fit a budget. I had a 720, moved up to be BenQ 1080p, and an Epson 1080p. I'm thrilled with these two and one day, when I get some cash, I'll try a 4K. But you're doing good. And they won't be as loud.

Decent deal. Not very good contrast on the 1060, but plenty bright enough and should be a good experience.

I have the Epson 880 and 1080.  They're both fantastic projector and some of the best values you can possibly get, especially in the 200 - $250 range, which is phenomenal value.  1060 is, as I understand it, similar to between the 880 and 1080 so I would absolutely recommend it.

Guys, don’t buy the cheap $100-$200 new projectors they are all garbage compared to the real deal. This epson cinema 1060 was on offer up for $200, released in 2017 it’s “old”. This image you’re seeing is base model iPad a16 connected to a VGA - USB C cable. This is a bright room it’s 10 in the morning and it’s just a beige painted wall. I can’t get over it. I had picked up what I thought was a great deal at Best Buy, $120 normally $250 Vankyo. Lumens were like 170 and this is like 3000 hahah. Also the light bulbs you can replace. GET A USED REAL PROJECTOR WITH BULBS it’s an unreal amount better.

r/projectors1080p+, with a .95-1.1ish throw ratio, under $750?

At your price range that 1060 might be about as good as it gets; just check lamp hours and make sure you’re okay with older HDMI/features and sometimes greyish looking blacks. Another good option would be the BenQ TH671ST; it's a short-throw model, and you might be able to find it under $750, especially used.

Great deal. I have a 3800 in my home theater but have a 1060 for outdoor usage, primarily for the side of a building at the bar I manage. I actually have two 1060s in case one dies on me. The throw on the 1060 is a bit shorter. Perfect for what I'm using it for. https://preview.redd.it/r2zd4hwrnw8f1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a047de06b62109a5aec83e96075d0d13ff6f811

I have been running a 1060 I bought open box for $400 back in 2016. I see no need for anything better till it dies

The Epson hc 880, 1060, and 1080 are wonderful little light cannons and great quality for value. If I find one at that price I'm buying it for a secondary or movable protector They still won't compete with the sun but will work well at night/ late evening and they are physically small and easy to move

Personally I love the Epson hc 880, 1080, 1060 etc series. They are very small projectors and are light cannons and very affordable. The 980 looks like a worthy step up from the others with optical zoom and 4000 lumens brightness. Be aware that they have pretty poor contrast though. I haven't seen reviews for it out since it's so new but I imagine the contrast won't be that great still. Unless you need the 4000 lumens, consider getting a manufacture refurbished 1080 or 1060 for a much lower price. Or an 880 if you don't need the zoom.

Try to look locally and find a used epson 880/660/1080/1060 or benq ht2050. They're old enough that they're probably around that price used and they have well documented response times. I sold my HT2050 for 250$ on fb marketplace last year. If you can go up to 500$ you can find an epson official refurbished hc1080 https://epson.com/Certified-ReNew/c/cc?q=%3Aprice-asc%3AdiscontinuedFlag%3Afalse%3AinStockFlag%3Atrue%3AproductType%3APROJECTOR

Maybe try and find a used Epson 880, 1060, 1080, 660. You'll need a lot of light for 200in, those are very high brightness 1080p projectors. Most affordable while still being designed for home theater use (vs office use). If you can afford 400$, Epson sells factory refurbs for around that much

Epson 880, 1080, 1060, 980 Benq ht2050 or 2060 Might have to look used or refurbished to get some of those in your price range

the benq will have better color generally and I think the response time is pretty good. The epson 1080 is a light cannon but color/contrast not as good, not sure about response time.

It can be tough to get a quality projector in that price range. I’d consider something used. I did a quick eBay check and you can get Epson and Benq projectors used in that price range. Those companies both make quality projectors. My projector is a an Epson Home Theatre 1080 and I love it ($900).

Im still on a 1080p Epson home cinema. OG bulb. Never spend more than you need to for your application. Most hate is people trying to justify the insane price they paid for that extra 10% performance.

Man, still got 1080p Epson home cinema on a 140 inch screen. It really isn't that big a deal. Get a 4k unscaler and save yourself 1000s and/or put more in the sound.
