"I am really impressed with how good even an 1080p Epson can project at 110” image that is totally cinematic"
"So, even in low lamp mode, the Epson will be a order of magnitude brighter than the Elephas or almost any single LCD panel projector on the market."
"Colors are vivid"

"The Epson 1080 is a decent option for $700 at 1080p 3400ANSI lumens. ... All bright enough and I have them all in eco mode."

"Average 6-7k hours per bulb. I run on eco most times."
"One of the reasons I chose this type of projector is the relatively easy and affordable bulb replacement."
"Yes, it uses lamps, but that means that when the lamp inside it burns out in 1,500 or so hours, you can just replace it with a new one. ... And the replacement lamp is only about $70 for an Epson original."

"It really feels like Epson is happy to ceed the sub 2k price range to BenQ, JMGO & all the other Chinese crap. ... if I want to upgrade visual wise it's pretty much 5050 or bust, which sucks. ... 5050s look good but they are really yesterday's tech. ... I'd like to upgrade to laser for some future proofing, but I guess I ll wait another year."
The Elephas has nowhere near the specs of the Epson. Remember, you're buying a projector, not a 'smart' device. You want to focus on the things that matter. Zoom, lens quality, technology quality, brightness, and contrast. The Elephas has no optical zoom at all. It is using a mobile phone screen inside of it which is not very durable and suffers from premature failure all the time. It is typically not a properly sealed light path, so you end up with dirt and debris inside the system all the time. They tend to be quite noisy, while only giving a few hundred ANSI lumens of light output. It may claim 800, but that is likely not the case. Epson uses 3LCD technology that is used by quality manufacturers throughout the world. Epson, Panasonic, Christie Digital, NEC, and more all use 3 LCD tech in their projectors. Some of which are rated to 10,000+ ANSI lumens. This technology is built to survive. So, even in low lamp mode, the Epson will be a order of magnitude brighter than the Elephas or almost any single LCD panel projector on the market. Yes, it uses lamps, but that means that when the lamp inside it burns out in 1,500 or so hours, you can just replace it with a new one. And the replacement lamp is only about $70 for an Epson original. The 2100 and 2150 are almost identical models in reality. Same rated brightness, a bit better black levels on the 2150, but not much better. Read specs at Projector Central... [https://www.projectorcentral.com/Epson-Home\_Cinema\_2100.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/Epson-Home_Cinema_2100.htm) [https://www.projectorcentral.com/Epson-Home\_Cinema\_2150.htm](https://www.projectorcentral.com/Epson-Home_Cinema_2150.htm) NOW: If you want 'smart' features, just plug in a smart device like the Amazon Fire TV Stick for $30. It has integrated Bluetooth and can stream from all the major services.
r/projectors • Super old Epson or Elephas W1K? ->I'm still rocking my Epson 2150. I'm on my second bulb so far. One of the reasons I chose this type of projector is the relatively easy and affordable bulb replacement.
r/projectors • Anything better than the Epson home 1080? ->If you’re sensitive to rainbow effect of DLP projectors then I’d recommend Epson 2150 refurbed from eBay - roughly $400. Great picture, brightness, HD, and flexibility when placing around the room.
r/projectors • Best projector for 500 new or used? ->Scored an epson 2150 on the epson refurbished store on ebay for 500$ a couple months ago. Im really happy with the results for the price. Colors are vivid and its plenty bright for a dark room. Black levels are decent but for the price i cant complain. https://preview.redd.it/7wsbx4qxn3kf1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce2ad7438ce6c770ff8e8f22b6d4db0d04ad7366
r/projectors • Anything better than the Epson home 1080? ->It really feels like Epson is happy to ceed the sub 2k price range to BenQ, JMGO & all the other Chinese crap. Im located in the mid. West, and during the winter months we put 6+ hrs a day on the weekend on our Epson HC 2150. Its still throwing a great Pic, but i have desire to upgrade to at least faux 4k and if I want to upgrade visual wise it's pretty much 5050 or bust, which sucks. 5050s look good but they are really yesterday's tech. I'd like to upgrade to laser for some future proofing, but I guess I ll wait another year.
r/projectors • Best projector under 1,500$ - The Hook Up comparison ->Epson 2150. 1080 super bright, and looks great gaming and you only spend $400/$500.
r/projectors • Epson 2030 finally died after 10 years. Looking for something new. ->Someone just upgraded from their epson 2150, an amazing projector of which i use everyday. You might be able to buy it from them or find one for cheap. Mine sees 10 hour a day use. Owned for 5 years. Average 6-7k hours per bulb. I run on eco most times.
r/projectors • Recommendation for a home projector under $200 ->I bought the $60 dollar one and it was reasonable for watching low stakes entertainment. It crapped out 3 days into it. I bought a used $200 Epson 1080p 3D capable one and haven’t regretted it. (dont remember the model)
r/projectors • PSA for anyone thinking of buying a $100 Chinese projector off Amazon… ->Im still on a 1080p Epson home cinema. OG bulb. Never spend more than you need to for your application. Most hate is people trying to justify the insane price they paid for that extra 10% performance.
r/projectors • PSA for anyone thinking of buying a $100 Chinese projector off Amazon… ->Man, still got 1080p Epson home cinema on a 140 inch screen. It really isn't that big a deal. Get a 4k unscaler and save yourself 1000s and/or put more in the sound.
r/projectors • Does buying a 4k HDR projector really make sense today? ->with cheap 100" 4k LED's available (walmart has a 98" Samsung for 1997 right now, costco has 98" TCL for 1599), maybe look at those before spending over $2k for a projector. Unless your screen is bigger than that, then a projector still the way to go since budget TV's max out at 100" right now (another couple years and you'll probably see 120" for $2k). Redoing my basement this is my dilemma - will stick with my 1080p Epson until the price comes down for 120"
r/hometheater • Bought a house with a home theater with theater seating and screen. Seller is taking all of the audio gear and projector. Never had a theater and don’t know anything about projectors. Any recommendations? ->I second this. Check Facebook marketplace for used name brand. Whatever you find research the model to avoid the conference room and multimedia model fluff. Literally Google the model number or check projector central website. You want to look for 720p or 1080p home theater models. You won't find anything more than that in your budget. Saw a Marantz VP-12S4 720p projector for $110. Here's an Epson 1080p that retails for $800 for $150. Make sure they test it for you. Ask if the bulb has been replaced. Unfortunately some people know how to reset lamp hours but check that anyways as well in case they haven't. Disregard the 4k advertising from Knock off models, it's a sham. Those are paperweights and just know they won't last long at all. https://preview.redd.it/e2orfdenxwbf1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=307cee1847275b626efaf631982de2e8ca291c5a
