"I’ve never experienced the kind of value per dollar that I am getting out of this set, and I think the industry just got a little shake up. ... Other manufacturers are going to be upset with Juzear pricing the DEFIANT at $100 as they could just as easily priced it at $200+ and no one would bat an eye. ... Most importantly, it’s putting a taste of Hi-Fi sound within reach of lots more people. ... I haven’t heard a better warm-neutral for $100 or less yet out of the 125 IEMs in my collection."

"The Defiant quite simply is a better IEM than the CK-D41. ... Instead I was expecting to being able to say that the Defiant is s very nice IEM given its price. I was wrong. The truth is that the Defiant generally performs better than its price."

"truly sound much more expensive than they are"

"Smooth signature, nice dynamic balance, nicely tuned for $99 ... Really just a pleasant sounding iem across the board ... The Defiant specializes in drawing the emotion from music. Like a wave in the sea it's fluid, rhythmic, and Juzear did a great job of covering every area in the mix (bass, mids, treble) and creating a warm dynamic balance. No area is left out. Really it's a very fun, very melodic, and honestly just a pleasant sounding set. No offense, no fatigue, no odd timbral issues, nothing metallic, no sibilance. The Defiant has just enough dynamism and it's clean across the board. ... Couldn't agree more. Well said. Ya the Defiant is a special set if you simply like to enjoy music."

"The high end of the defiant is my favorite in this price range for a few reasons. First, it’s extremely well controlled without ever becoming splashy or siblilant. ... I have a dedicated test track for sibilance “Plasticities“ by Andrew Bird. The Defiant passes with flying colors despite all the extra “T”, “S”, and cymbal sounds throughout that track. ... I’m personally very treble sensitive so it’s important for me to have comfortable Trouble that maintains extension into the highest frequencies. ... The defiance is just a touch smooth in this regard, but the way the set transmits the treble presentation directly into your brain makes it stand out all the more. ... The acoustic tuning of the Defiant allows the set to give you all the treble that you need without making it too loud or peaky. ... The layering allows the high end to make its own statement without having to yell over the bass. ... This balance is the core of what makes the Defiant so special to me, and they've even managed to improve the balance over the 61T here, adding just a touch more treble energy to give the set a more exciting presentation."

"Defiant is more balanced and punchy, and less bass-bloated. ... More full of life even on lower volume, better separation of instruments, more resolution on guitar, groove is present, scales worse, bass is more natural and clangy."

"Punchy, fun, engaging signature with good contrast between bass and treble ... The Defiant are fun thanks to their punchy and full bodied low-end, a soft recession in the midrange and a lively treble. ... Yes, yes, yes. I like the tuning, I like the fact that the low-end is punchy and very tight and I love the energetic sound that these reproduce. ... It ’s a complete package that features a healthy and fun-sounding low-end along with a nice balance between all the other frequencies. ... It ’s a keeper for me. ... The Defiant are punchier, warmer, more U-shaped and with a more contrasty sound, resulting in a more engaging and exciting approach ... Overall, I find the Defiant more fun and engaging to listen to ... I like the overall balance that Juzear and Zeos managed to strike, with a very tight and impactful low-end yet, vivid upper-mids and treble and a softly recessed midrange that doesn’t really impact the overall listening experience, giving just a bit more space to the low-end and upper-end to push a bit more forward and providing for a very engaging and contrasty signature."

"Great bass + mids, treble is unoffensive and overall it is very detailed for its price."

"Hot damn the bass quality and texture of these are fantastic"

planar usually have that wow factor when people listen to them, kiwi ears aether would be a nice choice otherwise juzear defiant are also very good i'd probably stay away from supermix for your genres as male vocals are not great on them + lack of midbass for stuff like rock, funk where the above sets would generally suit those much better

SGOR Luna is worth a consideration. Can be had for well under US$30 easily as of late and is a very noticeable step up compared to the Chu, Zero2 class of $20 earphones in terms of technical performance. Non fatiguing sound sig as well IMO, but ymmv with that FWIW, owning both, I prefer the SGOR Luna to the Juzear Defiant which costs 3x as much (better punch, resolution, speed) Another in that category worth considering, if they've never made any further modifications to it, is the KZ PRX, which can easily be had for well under US$25

I have a standard H4, and I enjoy the Artti T10, JUZEAR x Z Reviews Defiant (highly recommend), and Truthear Hexa. They're all distinct in their own ways, and wonderful to explore music with paired to the H4.

The Defiant is indeed pretty amazing for the price. It's not my personal favorite (I prefer the Pure and Hexa because of my bias for mids), but it's probably the one I would most easily recommend to people if they don't know their tuning preference. Really fun sound signature, but still pretty safe at the same time. Like you mentioned, I was also quite surprised that the midrange is still pretty solid on its own.

Didn't stop me from getting the Defiants though 😆. Fits really well to my collection as I tend to rotate sound signatures quite a bit. My main rotation of Hexa (Brighter Neutral), Pure (Warmer Neutral), Blue:2 (Hard V-shape), and Defiant (Soft V-shape) satisfies my cravings well (for now).

Yeah, the Blue:2 has a very forward treble, and a lot of sub-bass. It doesn't really have the problem you mentioned of being "muddy" in busy tracks like the Defiants, but at the same time it sounds a bit thin/artificial in more organic/vocal-focused tracks. The Red has a much milder treble when I tried them compared to the Blue:2s.

Pure's a good pick, especially since you want neutral but with a bit more body. Bass is also more present compared to the Hexa. Haven't heard of magicone myself, but graph suggestes the treble may be a bit spicy? Explorer is also pretty good when I listened to them, though I went with the Pure between the two for my warm-leaning set. I'd probably wait a bit to see what the Moondrop LAN II brings, since apparently there's going to be 2 versions (reference and pop). If you found the Hexa to be thin, the Zero Blue:2 is probably not for you (I have and enjoy it, but it's not really what I'd call neutral and the mids are pretty thin). One more set that I would recommend is the Juzear Defiant. It's not neutral, but it's fun and balanced. From my main 4 sets (Juzear Defiant, Truthear Pure, Hexa, Zero Blue 2), it's the set that's easiest to recommend to someone that doesn't know their preference (though my favorite is still the Pure/Hexa).

as the title says, i love my defiants, they sound so rich, perfect for me, i like "musical" music, like instrumentals, soundtracks, edm. but i also like the highend instruments. i also own the fatfreq decue, while amazing rumble on them, i use them to listen to EDM and while bike riding (for their fit). i prefer the balance of the defiants. i boosted the bass to my preference, almost basshead levels. while retaining the clarity. i love the bass texture of the defiants. the imaging is also very good. SO what should i buy in the next 6-9 months. under 500$ only. i need to save up to buy. The Martillo is a recommendation i get a lot.

Even though the Defiant uses 0.78mm cables, the cable sockets on the Defiant actually are QDC connectors which have been recessed to be flush with the shells. QDC connectors have a history of cracking. I like the build quality of the EW300. I have never seen the Hexa or the T10 or the S08.

I received my pair of Defiant IEMs earlier today! I purchased the Defiant (rainbow color) with my own money from the HiFiGo store on Aliexpress. Easilygreat's review of the Defiant totally hits the nail on the head. You can see his review here if you haven't already: [https://www.reddit.com/r/iems/comments/1kvw9l8/the\_juzear\_x\_z\_reviews\_defiant\_taste\_the\_hifi/](https://www.reddit.com/r/iems/comments/1kvw9l8/the_juzear_x_z_reviews_defiant_taste_the_hifi/) The Defiant easily passed my five minute initial listening test. Passing the five minute test means that I could not resist further evaluating these IEMs. I listened to the Defiant using around two dozen test tracks from different genres in addition to listening to specific portions of these test tracks to evaluate specific aspects of the IEMs. I also perform listening comparisons to my other IEMs which have similar overall sound signatures. The bass and sub bass are clean yet also are textured and layered. The Defiant has more sub bass than bass. The sub bass rumble is pretty clean and powerful. People who love sub bass will be delighted since the sub bass is very nice given the Defiant's price. I personally like the sub bass intensity to be similar to the bass intensity. Switching to JVC Spiral Dot eartips somewhat reduced the sub bass intensity such that it not much more than the bass intensity. I then switched to the Tangzu Tang Sancai Wide Bore eartips which are slightly better for my needs, yet note that I had to use o-rings in order to prevent these Tangzu eartips from sliding a bit back and forth on the nozzles. The lower midrange and the upper midrange and the treble have very good instrument separation with very clean sounding macro and micro details. The quality of the details and especially the micro details is very surprising. You are right that the Defiant is a very cohesive IEM. The Defiant's tuning is very similar to the more expensive Myer Audio CKLVX CK-D41. The Defiant has better dynamic drivers which deliver cleaner and more textured bass. The Defiant's BA drivers also sound slightly cleaner. The Defiant has slightly less of a dip around 6 kHz to control any harsh "t" and "s" and "sh" sounds in female vocals. These sounds do not sound harsh on the Defiant if the female artist has been trained about how to articulate these sounds. Artist training is something that I had never thought about. Vocals and in particular female vocals sound outstanding on the Defiant. The Defiant quite simply is a better IEM than the CK-D41. I wasn't expecting this result since the Defiant is less expensive. Instead I was expecting to being able to say that the Defiant is s very nice IEM given its price. I was wrong. The truth is that the Defiant generally performs better than its price. Like the CK-D41, the Defiant also has a slightly early rise for the simulated pinna gain for a bit more presence. This makes female vocals sound totally delicious. Its only fault is that the Defiant might have slightly too much presence for some genres, yet this is easily fixed by pulling 1 kHz down by 1 dB. Yep, just one dB. I appreciate the light weight of the IEMs and the included lightweight rainbow colored cable. Both are very comfortable. Congratulations to Zeos for actually creating a very nice collaboration. Thank you to everyone who enjoyed reading my review.

You are welcome. I was on the fence about purchasing another lower mid tier IEM, yet one reviewer mentioned that the bass is pretty clear and clean. This was something that I was looking to hear since everyone agreed that this IEM performs very well in all other aspects. This convinced me to purchase the Defiant. I purchased the Defiant and instantly regretted doing so, since I figured that the Defiant would not perform any better than the CKLVX CK-D41 which I already own. I am glad that I was wrong.

My Defiants have a vent hole in each shell. The Sony Spiral Dot eartips fit nicely on the Defiant and provide a very tight seal with no venting issues. Maybe they added a tiny internal vent tube from the front of the driver to the back of the driver?

This is becoming interesting. I am pretty sure that my Defiants are not from the initial production batch since I very recently ordered them from HiFiGo. I wonder if there is an internal modification which is preventing pressure buildup even though there are no front vents. I tried a variety of eartips on the Defiant by pressing them in further after I got a good seal. I didn't encounter inner ear pressure issues whereas I encounter pressure issues by barely moving the MagicOne in or out after getting a good seal.

Your intro has a not recommended suggestion of flipping off a cop. I get it that you are simply joking a bit since our world is far less than sane. Everyone, do you see easilygreat's desk which has a striking texture in the wood grain? I love his desk which I instantly recognize his desk as meaning that the post is from easilygreat. I think that he has named his desk Greta. Easilygreat describes the bass as fairly quick and tactile. I recall that another reviewer, who I really trust, recently and similarly described the Defiant's bass as being a bit powerful yet clean, and also described the clarity of details in the midrange and upper midrange and treble regions as being somewhat yet noticeably above average at the Defiant's price point. The review by another reviewer who I really trust prompted me to purchase the Defiant which now is on a jet plane from China as of today. I am looking forward to listening to this IEM since the tuning appears to be right up my alley and since the technicalities throughout the entire frequency response should be satisfying, especially given the Defiant's price. I am hoping that the micro details will be pretty clear even though I expect that the macro details will be very clear. You forgot to mention that the upper midrange appears to be meta tuned since there is a dip at around 6 kHz in order to make the upper midrange sound more relaxing. Anyway, just some thoughts since I am excited about receiving this IEM fairly soon.

About me: I’m musician with 14 year experience - couple instruments, some concerts and homerecording. I listen to almost everything genre-wise, so the IEMs weaknesess and strenghts are tested on different grounds. I don’t care about collabs. I care about the sound. In reviews I want to focus purely on the experience and comparisons to give you something tangible in this non-tangible hobby. Graphs never tell the whole story and can easly misguide non-professionals, there is hrtf or ear-canal variance and the fitment can make or brake any IEM. I try to enjoy the sets as intended by creators, without EQ if possible. IEMs bought with my own money. Opinions are my own. With this outta the way...   **Let's Define the Defiant** \[insert Jordan Peterson meme here\] **Music:** About their character and colour: They got this cocky, slightly nasal sound (if you know what I mean https://youtu.be/Y9bvj4t1oc8?si=AqQpV0Dq-nIFcbGt) which is responsible for making them less boring than flat presentation but rather give „hey handsome, wanna have some fun?” experience. And oh boy, do I caught the bait. Leviosaaaaah! **Make the snare your** **best friend!** – The drums (especially snare) and bass work together in a fantastic tandem to rock your boat. If I’m not the basshead, than I am groove-head for sure, and they are grooovin’. You’ve got enough bass to enjoy the music without overpowering anything, when the song calls for it, there it goes. There is a pinch of colouration on top to keep you interested and engaged without music sounding artificial or overproduced. There are enough details to make you appreciate the recording without feeling like they will poke your eyes out with their crispiness and sharpness, or that you have to make pauses every 3 songs because of fatigue. Their highs are „safe”. **Do they scale well?** It’s a mid-volume set. You’ve got everything you need from the bottom to mid volume. I appreciate that. Don’t destroy your hearing, guys. **Do they have any** **flaws** **then?** Sometimes you could want more from the mids. They *could* benefit from a little warming up or pushing forward. It also could mud-up the presentation \[shrugs\], which is vibrant and is bright point of this set. But I’ve noticed any shortcomings only in very „airy” songs with natural instruments like *„The Chain” from Fleetwood Mac*. Second thing is not a flaw, but rather a wish from me – they could benefit from more opennes or wider soundstage and it would make them sound even richer, but surely it would impact their immediacy with delivering the sound. But don’t get me wrong, they are not sounding claustrophobic or in-your-head. Just could be a lil better.   **Build, fit and finish:** \- interchangeable connectors, great addition in this price range. \- very nice Flare cable – it’s not flimsy nor too heavy. No memory issues. Nice design, matching the faceplates. \- Faceplates – they are just beautiful. If you are afraid of the „rainbow” you can choose jade green version (but you now need to buy matching green cable to make them super-cool!) \- Nice leather(like?) case that will fit your dongle (or even something like TRN Blackpearl). \- no pressure buildup problem in my case \- I recommend Dunu SS tips. You are getting some silicons and foam in the set, but I didn’t bother trying them, lol. \- IEM case is Midsized. Nozzle lip measures 6.2mm, I would say average. They are gripping the tips good, but the tip-changing is easy enough not to make you insane. **Comparisons:** **vs Aful Explorer:** My take: I tried to love Explorers, but in comparison to Defiant they can be a snoozfest and can tranquilize even your most groovy songs. The vocals on the Explorers are often misplaced - in the second row or  unnaturally forward. Not the most universal set. They are great for relaxing, or all-day listening, ultra-comfortable and they are special. A lot of bass, but it’s there to hug you, not hurt you. When sometimes I need my music to slap me and get me on my feet, Explorers would just kiss me goodnight - unless you crank them, they scale great but it’s too much volume until they sound good enough. Defiant is more balanced and punchy, and less bass-bloated. Example songs: *Tidal Wave – Tom Misch* Defiant : Warm, vibrant guitars. Pronounced drums (snare has nice impact) with better resolution: you can hear the stick on the snare rim better and you feel more groove, nice details on ghost notes, overall more dynamic sound, balanced tight bass, more natural sound. Vocals are 97% in line with music. Explorer: More sparkly cymbals, less forward vocal, hiding just under the music, more (quantity) bass, warmer low end. *Limp Bizkit - Gold Cobra* Explorer: Comes out somewhat flat musically with unnaturally forward vocals, drums are vibrant only on louder settings, groove is lost here, more sparkly cymbals. Defiant: More full of life even on lower volume, better separation of instruments, more resolution on guitar, groove is present, scales worse, bass is more natural and clangy. **vs Kefine Klean:** My take: Kleans on the sale are young audiophiles dream. Apparently they’ve got everything you want – clear, quite balanced presentation, warmness, some details. They are good for the price but if you can save up to get Defiants, get Defiants and skip Kleans. Richer, more detailed sound without obvious flaws like highs that can and will hurt you. Even more bang for your buck and fun factor.   **vs KBear Rosefinch:** I like Rosefinch, especially for the price. But Defiants are more versatile, unmudded and rich presentation. Defiants have obviously less bass, but for me they kick harder, which is more important for me than bass-blanket.   **The End:** Are you looking for fun set under $100? Do you want to vibe with your music, bang your head a little or tap your foot with just enough bass and without making the music unnecessary artificial? THIS IS IT. Don’t look further. But they got a little special sauce to achieve it, so if you are against ANY colour (most folks won’t even notice that lil bit) in your music or you are snare-hater, that’s not it. Very nicely implemented tuning with fun in mind. Are they overhyped? The hypetrain is here, but taking into consideration that this is under $100 set, I think it’s justified. Check them yourself and make your mind! Worth trying.   If you want more reviews like this, consider upvoting. **Recommended Defiant tracks:** *Hyper – Spoiler* *Sleep Token – Emergence* *Q-Tip – Breathe and stop* Deftones – Passenger (Mike *Shinoda remix)* FKJ, Tom Misch – Losing My *Way* **Used tech:** Fosi audio SK02, TRN Blackpearl, jcally jm6 pro.
