As IEM I use the LD Systems MEI 1000 G2. Very solid and never had any issues. For wireless, I use a Line6 G50 Paid around 300€ for the LD and 100€ for the used (pretty beaten up) G50. Using IEM for the first time is tricky, specially because you are probably expecting to have definition and dynamics in volume and it’s not quite perfect. Huge stages tend to give you better conditions for a nice EQ than small ones since you have much more space and the drums can be far. But overall is amazing to get home after a gig and not be deaf. Oh, and I use KZ in-ears. Z10 Pro S and Zar. Amazing value for the money.

I see so many differing opinions on the KZ ZAR, I also have Kefine Klean, QKZ x HBB and Tangzu Waner 2. No matter how much testing I do the ZAR beats them all for me. Any recommendations of what I should try next?

I’ve used/own KZ ZS10 Pro, ZS10 pro X, ZAR and ZAX. The KZ ZAX are by far the best but could easily use/have used any of those models as iem in a professional environment. I’ve been using these for over 5 years

I have the KZ AS16 Pro x, and for FPS battleroyale games, this IEMs gives me a great map awareness. The only reason I got this was because of the price. But now seen the ZAR at 50 bucks, I’d say…. GET THEM. Dont listen to anybody as people are really bias and closed minded, me personally, I give everything a chance before condemning lol and thanks god I bought this, as the as16 Pro x, gives me such a great map awareness, friends always says, “HOW THE HELL YOU HEARD HIM NAA YOU GOT WALLHACKS,” Lmao, mind you, the way I have this headsets tuned, I can hear the SMALLEST movements. I can hear the air in between spaces and the enemy, pin pointing them to their EXACT locations. With other headsets, I know the enemy is either left or right, but with this, I can hear, ok, bottom left corner, top right, over this wall etc. I am getting the As 24 pro, more drivers= better precision in sound(hopefully). I use the TRN redchain cable with the mic(linsoul has it for like 15 bucks), cable comes with silver and copper. And changes the sound drastically as the original wire, idk I hate the sound lol.

No, im using the new Kz Sonata, 28 drivers configuration. But the truth is, the zar was an upgrade coming from the AS 16 Pro x, and upgrading from the zar to the sonata, didnt see much uplift, using 28 drivers. But back to the As16 pro, they aren’t bad for the price and works really well when it comes to footsteps and locating the footsteps. But remember im using a silver/copper wire(TRN Red cable), to me drastically change the sound for me positively.

Oh ok, so yeah, go for the Kz Zar, you won’t be disappointed, I was amazed by the sound quality for the price. Really punches above its weight.

Some people might disagree - I just picked up a pair of KZ ZAR, they sound great, bass is intense, treble is quality. Right at $98.

r/iemsTruthear Hexa or Kefine Klean?

The kleans are okay for story games, definitely not my preference but the silver nozzle filter makes it really good compared to the black filter (preferably used for competitive gaming). For story games I rather have something more bassy for impact and wide soundstage for immersion. I’d give a 3.5 out of 5 to the kleans regarding story gaming. I think that with the klean you kinda feel some kind of “switch” from effects/voice to the soundtrack and it bothers me a bit cause it’s not so smooth, it feels like you have the soundtrack playing on Spotify while you play without music on the game if you get what I mean lol but I guess that’s a me thing. Even a KZ ZAR makes story games/movies more interesting than the klean (then again, that’s a me thing). But I mean it’s a great deal if you find it for lower than the original price tag (although I think it’s worth the 50$) About the hexa/pure: the hexas have quite an analytical sound, it’s pretty neutral to my ears. It doesn’t have the best imaging for music but it is surprisingly good for online gaming. The pure is basically an upgraded hexa, it takes everything people liked from the hexas and add some warmth to the sound, it just has more swag than the hexas. I’d say it’s a solid option, great all rounder.

I have the Kz zax but I believe it’s the Kz zar that are slightly better. Though their eq line is almost the same. I use the sucker punch or the headphone bass boost eq in game. With very little volume, maybe 35-40% of system volume and have any special effects from windows turned off

When I first ventured into this class of audio. I was very unsure of the specifics of brands, drivers, tuning, ect... I started with the FiiO JA3s. For the price I thought, how bad could these be. For me they were a good step above my airpods and I had already come to terms with the fact that good audio isn't going to come from a wireless headphone, at least not the level I was looking for. Now I be purchased 4 different pairs of IEMs since then, from $80-$300 and oddly enough I still go back to my second pair which was the KZ Zar. I love them, they're comfortable, the have amazing bass, they don't stick out of my ear, they are overall my favorite. Price, fit, finish, sound, its my favorite. For reference my other two IEMs are the Kiwi Ears Quintet and the Final Audio A5000, both heavily regarded and both sound amazing, but for almost triple the money over the Zars, KZ brings a fantastic value to sound ratio.
