It's about the value you get for the price you pay. There is hardly anything worth buying in that price range to compete. If it wasn't for my KZ ZS10s, I don't think I would have bothered with high end headphones after my Shure SE530s fell to pieces and the bastards wouldn't warranty them. I stopped using KZ after they tried to pay for positive reviews, but I wouldn't still be an audiophile if it wasn't for them. They have a place in the market, and make a positive impact, even if it a stepping stone to 'better' brands.
