Consider an Avocado Green Mattress in a Pillow-top, a GOTS-certified organic latex hybrid mattress. It's well-suited to your side and back sleeping preferences, fits your budget, and because it uses natural materials, it breathes well and retains little heat (sleeps cool).
It's not cheap but I like my Avocado Green. I've also been getting ads for Saatva and heard good things about Purple.
Haven't tried the Birch Natural matress but I have the Avocado Green Mattress and I love it! It’s made with natural latex, organic wool, and cotton, has good edge support. Soft but has a good form. There was a light scent when it first arrived but I hardly noticed it after a couple hours
Get a latex mattress. Natural, cooler than memory foam, lasts forever. Avocado or PlushBeds are solid choices.
I have an Avocado Green that I received late October. I was going to send it back in December because I was waking up every day with a sore neck and back. When I called to return it, they offered to send me a topper for free, which I accepted. I chose the 2" plush to maintain some firmness, but I am still having soreness in the mornings, though it's better than it was before. I wish the customer service rep had explained that the 3" plush is what they recommend for side sleepers. I have been thinking of just returning it all and finding something else entirely. Actually, though, reading that yours did eventually break in makes me think I could give it more time. Is it comfortable for you now? I honestly just don't want to deal with returning it and finding a new mattress.
Avocado Green - not available at Costco and worth the effort and money
We have the Avocado from Costco. I know it has mixed reviews, but it’s been perfect for us! It’s a nice medium firmness that’s comfortable for my husband who sleeps on his side and myself, stomach sleeper. It’s the first mattress I’ve gotten that doesn’t smell at all when you first open it up! We would recommend. It was on a decent Black Friday sale last year too!
Costco avocado is working well for me. I think that’s a good value for your dollar mattress.
I've been curious about latex hybrid for a while and currently Costco Avocado mattress is cheaper than usual (the queen size goes for $999) so I just pulled the trigger! Latex is supposed to be cooling, supportive, and more durable than foam and that's why I'm looking at it since I'm tired of my current memory foam set up. I'm really not sure if I'll like it or not but at least with the return policy I can give it a try.
I second Avacado. We've had ours for around 4 years and I remember being nervous about buying a mattress without trying it, but it's one of the most comfortable beds for me and my husband. I feel like he did need to adjust at first, but they had a good return program so it wasn't to big of a risk. Now we both love it.
