I just bought the snow for 1700 and so far I love it. I’d just recommend going to a store and seeing what fits your vibe. Foam vs traditional (or hybrid) and soft vs firm
I just purchased the Casper snow, because I was looking for a very plush mattress and I'm hating it. I'll probably return it because I find it to firm. What is the absolute most plush mattress in your opinion? I mean, sink right in, soft, sleeping on a cloud plush. Thanks
Hey there! Here with another option you might like to consider. If you're looking for something that should do a good job in keeping your spine neutral and giving your wife enough pressure relief on their hips, you should take a look at the Casper Snow. Based on our testing the Casper Snow would make a great choice for someone in your weight category, who is also a mixed sleeper. Whether you're sleeping on your back, side or stomach the mattress does a great job supporting the areas that need it most. Heavier parts of your body won't sink in any further than the rest, making it a fantastic option as it keeps your hips in line with the rest of your body, which helps prevent strain on your back. It also offers excellent body conformity for average people and fantastic body conformity for heavier people, so it'll do an even better job of relieving pressure for people in those weight categories.
I'd do Casper snow much better quality imho.
You keep believing that at about CR. Lol... Yes I laid on three models of Casper....didn't like any of them. It could be that the ones I laid on had memory foam as the predominant foams, not sure...but I hate memory foam. OP was asking about longevity and the Elite Sealy has a really good coil system. I would skip the Pillow top myself and do a quilt top on the elite but the support system is top notch. When I was trying to decide, I went to no less than 7 stores and spent ridiculous amounts of time laying on mattresses and then formulated a top 5 list and laid on them several more times for extended periods (salespeople all knew me by then). Sealy Elite made our top 5 list but ultimately did not win out. My finalists were (remember we wanted firm and hate MF): 1. Diamond Mattress Black Diamond Vail 2. Helix Twilight Elite 3. King Koil Natural Cascade 4. Sealy Elite Albany II 5. BR World Class Level Three (Budget Option) All of these were firm feel quilt top mattresses which is what our preference was as we hate the MF Hybrid Top ones. So I standby by my comment and my thoughts about CR. :) The most important thing to remember is mattresses are subjective and you will hear love/hate for every brand out there. I don't hate any of them and many have not been out long enough to really gauge longevity. (For instance Helix completely redesigned their mattresses in 2025). Lastly, one point of reference I always looked at was warranty or satisfaction return rates. Most dealers that sold the elite series Sealy had a non existent return rate. Shockingly one of the most returned ones was the BR Black series (Their top of the line). Also they had the highest warranty repair/replace due to manufacturing issues with their triple stranded coils that were tearing into the comfort materials. These things you don't hear about much unless you dig.
Yes, for example the snow is a memory foam hybrid. When the layers they use are predominantly memory foam I am out...lol Also you can't really judge reliability on something that was released in 2023 and updated in 2024. Either way, if you love Casper then that is awesome for you. I tried them, they didn't make my top 5 or even top 15 list as I hate sinking into MF.
Same here but with a Beautyrest I purchased at Costco for $200. I sleep so much better on that than my $2,000 Casper Snow. And it sleeps just as cool as the “Snow” too (which was a couple hundred dollars EXTRA for the Snow add-on alone)
Yes. My $200 Costco Beautyrest was 1000x better than my overpriced $3,000 Casper. The Casper was fine for the first year or 2. Despite always having a weird plastic cat-urine odor. Don’t think I’ll do a boxed mattress again. My boxed Novaform (Costco brand) is great but still off-gassing. Good thing about Costco is you can return for a full refund whenever you want
Yes. I got this exact mattress for my guest room 1 year ago and have been using it instead of my main full size Casper. It was 1/3 the price of my Caper and is so much better. The firm is indeed very *firm* but the pillow top does soften up after a few months. Some guests love it, some hate it. If you prefer something firm, you’ll like it. Might still add a softer mattress topper eventually, if I have guests over again. For me though, I like it. Also thinking about buying another to replace my Casper mattress-in-a-box.
I don’t know. We got a Saatva latex hybrid and I keep reading that I should hate it. But we’ve had it for 2 months now and so far so good. It replaced a Casper snow that we *hated*. Fingers crossed. Edit: I wouldn’t mind a little more edge support but that’s my only (mild) complaint. My husband actually likes it the way it is.
The highest ranked Sealy is 75, most are in the 60s Have you tried the Casper Snow / Dream, was shocked how comfortable they were in the store On Consumer Report reviews being bought and paid for: Consumer Reports operates as a nonprofit and does not accept any corporate money that could influence its evaluations. *Self-Funded Testing: CR spends more than $30 million annually to purchase the products it tests. *Secret Shoppers: To avoid receiving "hand-picked" or superior versions of products from manufacturers, CR uses secret shoppers to buy items at full retail price, just like a regular consumer. *No Free Samples: The organization strictly refuses free test samples or sponsorships from brands. Seems you’re 0 for 3, hope you’re at least getting good sleep
My partner and I recently bought a Casper Snow Hybrid and find it pretty comfortable for side-sleeping. The comfort layer is really nice IMO. I also find the cooling features work pretty well, although with a king size it's not as much of an issue because there's always a cool spot somewhere. I didn't try the others you mentioned - our top three were the Casper, the Nectar Ultra, and a Tempur-Pedic hybrid.
In my opinion, the hybrid mattresses are more firm than memory foam mattresses. Of course, it all comes down to personal preference. We prefer a firmer mattress so we went with the Casper Hybrid (we own four of these).
