The best mattress I have ever had, and still have, is my IKEA Sultan Elsfjord. It was their synthetic latex. 5.5” thick and no other support, no springs, just laying on wood slats. It’s still great and feels good. Firm. No weird sagging spots. Problem is, IKEA doesn’t make anything like it any more. I want nothing to do with toxic memory foam. I’m looking for a latex mattress maker that’s not scammy. Latex For Less gets horrible reviews, and it seems there are websites that are basically the same seller just selling and marketing the same mattresses at different price points. What is the best, non-scammy latex mattress seller? Or should I just buy custom a cut latex slab from a company like FoamSource?
I should add, this mattress is 20 years old now.
I'm just comparing it to my last Ikea mattress that had latex and felt like I was sleeping on rocks sometimes. I don't know about a firmness scale. Sorry...I feel supported and we have a queen size. Feels like we might roll into the middle of the bed. I tend to sleep on the edge and we currently have the mattress on the floor and waiting for our bed platform to arrive.
Try ikea. 3.6k you can get a latex mattress. The rest for me is fine. Better to try it yourself so that you can be satisfied
I love my current setup, sleep is so important. Latex mattress (pricey so I use a good quality mattress protector), 100% cotton sheets, and an organic wool duvet. And an air purifier right next to the bed. All from IKEA except the duvet, I got that for cheap second hand.
There are literally thousands upon thousands of different matresses. Sleep is a huge business now. In the last 12 years I had two quite good matresses though. The first was from IKEA, it was a Sultan, which I think is discontinued. Under the matress we had those adjustable IKEA frames where you can elevate either the head or the legs or both. And the second which we still use is a totally random memory foam matress, quite firm, and quite thin, and it works just right with the IKEA frames. I sleep on my back, my wife is a side sleeper. I'm 200 pounds, she is around 135.
Ikea's Sultan. I dont think they make that anymore but they do have equivalents. I've had it for 10 years. I got the Malm bed with their highest priced bed base and I never had a problem. Mind you, I have sciatica and I still able to sleep comfortably on it and the heights of that extrene pain (I've since recovered).
