It is! Also if you are near an ikea you can test them out before buying, thats what we did. They have various models. They have a return policy if you arent happy with it too.
I have an IKEA Vagstranda firm, and it’s thankfully actually firm (it took me a journey through a lot of much more expensive mattresses to get here). I’m mostly a back sleeper who needs significant low back support, but I wouldn’t suggest firm for a side sleeper. It’s good now, but it took a few good months to get comfortable on the side. I would suggest however trying out the medium and the plush in-store, because IMO the medium was more a plush than a medium, and I would be concerned that the Vagstranda plush will have no support at all.
Anneland has memory foam, and all memory foam sinks. If you have the budget, go for a latex mattress which won’t sink and yet provide cushioning for a big person (but get the comfort right from the get go, because latex mattresses do not really break in, and there are various firmnesses of latex). If you don’t have the budget, go for a firm spring mattress. I have the firm IKEA Vangstranda and it is actually what I will call firm (I was surprised how soft most supposedly firm mattresses were, when I went mattress shopping). It probably won’t be the most comfortable at the get go but it does break in. I don’t know how long it will last for him though because I’m light, but for me it didn’t budge much. As an option, you can get the Vangstranda and add a 2in latex topper for cushioning.
I was about to recommend this!
IKEA Vagstranda. We've had ours about 5 years. It's brilliant.
Pretty heavy, it's proper sprung mattress not just foam. Dunno if that's what you want or not.
The IKEA Vagstranda is decent for the money. Lasts years. Firm is the way to go.
Your post has nothing to do with r/SaaS Anyway, the solution is a double pocket spring mattress. I have a Vågstranda mattress from IKEA. Even when I weighed \~120kg and my wife \~41kg, she didn't feel me turning over at night, etc.
You should really think about IKEA mattresses. I bought vagstranda with a thick topper and it’s really good. Buy a soft mattress and just buy a topper later if you need one.
Valevag from Ikea is the only option in this price range that I would recommend. We’ve got Hovags on the spare beds in our house and everyone remarks on how good they are - valevag is the new name for them (and packaged differently with a little less cushioning on the top from what I understand) Edit: from taking a look, the vagstranda is on sale for new year so that would also be worth a look. For that much you can absolutely get a quality pocket sprung mattress - don’t let others tell you otherwise!
Seconded! Have the same for about 5 years too and it's still very comfortable.
IKEA pocket Spring mattresses are the best. I've been sleeping on one for the guts of 5 years now (technically my second one, but that was because the first one was unsalvageable after a house fire). They're excellent, and half the price of a similar mattress from anywhere else.
