r/BuyItForLifeIndiaThe mattress my grandfather used for 40 years vs what we get today. Are we being sold disposable sleep?

Cotton mattress is absolutely a nightmare for a hot and humid country like India. It would be a heaven for mold and mildew, and it sags (you sink into the matress), causing backpain. You also need thrashing and sunning on weekly basis PLUS a slatted bed (Never on a solid wood or ply bed) The one I use is an IKEA Pocket Spring 8-inch mattress with a Eurotop, which is absolutely nice. Latex mattress is nice too. Stay away from cotton for heaven's sake!!

Wakefit and sleepy cat are scammers, stay away from these fkrs. The best in my experience is IKEA, go wth their 8 inch pocket spring mattress. If you cant get that, go for Springtech in Amazon.

Ikea VESTERÖY. I never would have considered this bed at this price point but its results hit what I was looking for in a surprising way.

I’m in a temporary living situation so I didn’t want to spend a lot because I’ll have to get rid of my mattress in a year anyway so I got a cheap IKEA mattress (I think it’s VESTEROY?) that was about $150 topped with a tempur pedic topper that was $200. It’s the most comfortable bed ever and I’ll probably keep this set up for the rest of my life even when my situation becomes more permanent. It feels like a $2000 mattress. I think it’s because the VESTEROY is firm and stable but the topper is memory foam so it feels very supportive and firm but also soft and squishy at the same time.

Seconded! Have the same for about 5 years too and it's still very comfortable.

IKEA pocket Spring mattresses are the best. I've been sleeping on one for the guts of 5 years now (technically my second one, but that was because the first one was unsalvageable after a house fire). They're excellent, and half the price of a similar mattress from anywhere else.

Got one from Ikea with pocket springs. Never gonna go back to any other kind.
