I'm a side sleeper and I sent back a Nectar so I could buy a Purple Restore Plus hybrid. It's got 2 in of their trademark honeycomb grid on top. I really like it. The Premier has 3 inches, It feels great. And I could have got it cheaper, but It didn't come in full and I was determined to get that size. So glad it doesn't have that memory foam on top. It might be in there somewhere but not not to lie on directly.
Took the plunge on purple restore plus in firm and so far love it. It's helped my back pain and posture, I always grew up with super hard mattresses so this was supportive but soft. Granted I have it on plywood on the floor for even support! I'm convinced slats and bed frames and bad boxsprings are what leads to sagging/ loss of support
This struggle is very real and I’m going through this right now. I am 6 foot four 230 pound side sleeper. I started on a water bed with baffles. Then had latex hand tied, medium firm, tufted bed that lasted 20 years….medium firm, buoyant, responsive, amazing comfort. It needed to be replaced because there was a dip in the center from me sleeping in the middle all of the time. I then went with a purple restore plus, which had an ergo alignment layer… after 30 days there was not enough pressure relief for my shoulders and my ribs were hurting. I could feel that alignment layer on my body (below my ribs). Next I tried the purple restore premiere because I ❤️ the grid…. this did not have the ergo alignment support layer. It was amazing for the first 30 days…. slept for many many hours comfortably because It was the very familiar buoyant feel & was supportive but shortly after a month, it started to dip in my torso area, throwing me out of alignment. I next went to the winked luxury firm which I thought was amazing. However, there was not enough pressure relief. The mattress was 13 inches tall and in my opinion did not have enough comfort layers. …and probably because of my weight it rolled me onto my back in the middle of the night. I am currently on the helix elite series. The midnight did not have enough support, and I sunk in too deep due to the memory foam; tried the plus elite layers and the same thing too much sinkage throwing me out of alignment. I’m learning that when you’re older and have lower back pain or back issues, you need to be very cautious of memory foam because it can easily throw you out of alignment and I believe the OP is correct in which a medium firm to slightly firmer is the key firmness depending on your weight. I was able to try the helix Dawn elite in a showroom yesterday and my back felt like heaven. It was somewhat buoyant and very supportive yet this line mattress had very little memory foam and more support forward foams. It is very important to remember that if you’re looking for pressure relief you need either latex or any buoyant foam! If the Dawn elite doesn’t work, I am gonna go back to a latex hybrid. I bumped into engineered sleep mattress company which incorporates latex in many of their models: https://engineeredsleep.com/products/duo-latex-mattress I am intrigued with the design with the comfort layers right on top with a cling technology that holds it in place …very cool… this is my next adventure. I really need to find a comfortable bed soon my back is killing me!
I am a heavier side sleeper and just bought a Purple restore premiere firm mattress...completely in love. You definately need to try it out in a showroom before buying. If you have back issues you may like the Purple restore plus soft mattress being a side sleeper. Unfortunately it will be more than 2k.
Have you ever tried a purple mattress with the grid? That was the most coolest neutral temperature sleeping bed I ever tried. It didn’t work out for me because the model I chose didn’t have enough lumbar support, but you may love it!
Purple is like sleeping on a cloud. Zero regrets from me- 110lb side sleeper with low back pain
I ended up going into a Purple store and purchasing it direct from them after I laid on all their models. I got the Purple Restore Plus Hybrid. It was the nicest mattress I tried that came in a Full size. Also, the Purple store I went into had a better deal to offer than what Purple online offered.
Happy to help! It comes in 2 firmness levels, Soft or Firm. I got the softest one because I want to feel like I’m floating on a cloud. Hey, if you do end up getting anything from Purple, they have a refer a friend program where we both get free Purple pillows if you give them my referral link. And it can be used with any other discounts or promos you’re able to get. Here’s my link if you’re so inclined. https://share.purple.com/by/hewsmeg I just really love my Purple mattress. I tried so many from several places and I finally found what I was looking for in this Purple. I sleep all night like a baby and wake up feeling great. It’s unbelievable.
3 weeks of pure bliss and the best sleep I’ve ever had. I have low back pain (disc bulge) and it’s been amazing for me. I wake up feeling great
Check out the purple restoreplus soft. It's more of a medium. My wife and I love it.
I swear by the purple bed. I just got a purple restore plus firm (with is a medium firm it feels soft though but supportive). I sleep on my side and was using a sleep number iLE. From the first night no side or back pain. I bought the pillow too. They have a more expensive one the rejuvenate but I couldn’t bring myself to pay that price it does sleep cooler per the store but wasn’t worth the 2x price tag. My husband is a stomach sleeper so he got the restore premier soft(it’s a little firmer than mine). He also slept first night with no pain.
Mine is 2 years old and I love it. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat. I think I have the RestorePlus Hybrid.
We use a firm purple mattress. It’s awesome.
I've had a purple premier hybrid firm for 3 years and I wake up with neck and back pain daily now, my partner often does too.. What do you recommend for side sleepers 240-260lbs, 6'4". Price isn't a consideration, so any price point. Sleep hot, I'm a hot area of Texas too.
It feels very firm at least, I would like something more plush I think since I constantly have neck and upper back/shoulder pain waking up. We both sleep on our sides the majority of the time. Me 95%, partner 80% side the rest stomach. I looked it up, it's actually the "Purple Restore Plus Firm", sorry I thought it was the premiere. Their support folks are terrible and have no desire to help us out since we are out of the in-home trial period.
Love my purple+ as a side sleeper who runs hot at night. We got it through one of those mattress store chains so they delivered it inside our room and offered to remove old bed (we sold ours so we didn’t use this service). I think it’s $1700
