r/MattressSealy Posturepedic Elite Brenham 2 vs Highpoint 2. Lots of questions
6 months ago

So when I had the soft hybrid high point it was so soft and squishy it was miserable and I love soft beds. I lasted as long as I could with it but hated it and gave it to my mom because she loved it. I went out and bought the Brenham medium pillow too because my salesman told me they didn’t make it in soft, that had been a fight on its own because they do make it soft but won’t take the responsibility for not telling me the truth. Anyways my question is, do you think the soft pillow top instead of the medium will give me that cloud feeling unlike the high point did because that one made me feel like I was drowning lol

I was in mattress buying hell. I bought a sealy posturepedic elite high point ii hybrid medium and it absolutely killed my lower back. I was coming from the firm model which I liked okay but spending that much money I wanted perfect. I Returned it the medium As a rotating sleeper, I need support on the shoulder and hips. It wasn’t until I went to a mattress store and happen to lay on the king koil intimate latex hybrid that I found my mattress. Everything online is memory foam or memory foam hybrid. I didn’t even think about latex. But this thing is amazing. I highly recommend rotating sleepers to check one out in a store.

Latex is very cool! I find it cooler than my sealy with all of Swamy’s cooking technology. No complaints yet and I’m also a hot sleeper. It’s one con I can see is motion transfer is higher

We just got the High Point II yesterday and so far, so good. High Point II is the new model that came out around a year ago or so. The new model is apparently 40% cooler. Do with that what you will. However/whatever, it is a popular model that is sold at a number of retailers as opposed to a one off for a specific chain of stores. I would personally check out Bloomingdale’s as they have some Aireloom’s for 50-60% off. These are roughly twice as expensive or more than the High Point. We live in Hawaii or definitely would have checked out the Airedale otherwise. There are a number of other brands outside those that seem well regarded depending on your appetite for going down the rabbit hole.

Would doubt there are any major issues per se and it is a really well regarded model. Would hope it would be discounted since it has been discontinued. Guessing that Mattress Warehouse is no longer a Sealy dealer owing to Sealy/Tempur or whatever they are called now owning Mattress Firm.

Sealy Posturepedic Elite Hybrid High Point II Medium king We are both 195 lbs, 6 ft and 5 ft 1. Both primary side sleepers. My wife and I are coming from the waterbed world and settled on the Sealy High Point because of how it felt in the store and the salesperson praising it's cooling capabilities for hot sleepers. It was cool and felt great when we laid on it in the store. We are pretty much side sleepers, but do change throughout the night to back or stomach too.  We have slept on the mattress for 2 weeks now and tried everything to help sleep without waking up hot or sweating. We have the set the ac to 74 (Florida), have a directional fan and ceiling fan, we bought 2 different cooling mattress covers, new Mattress Firm's Sleepys cooling sheets, cooling blankets and cooling pillows.  So when climbing into bed, the mattress is almost uncomfortably cold, the blanket is cold and the room is cool with fans running on high. This is not something I look forward to, when instinct is to grab a warm blanket to feel comfortable when the bed and room is so chilly.   After a few minutes, the bed starts to adjust to our body temperature and becomes pretty comfortable and we fall asleep fairly easily. Then like clockwork 1.5 hours later I wake up hot and usually sweating and my wife usually has already thrown her blanket off. From then on, the bed remains miserably warm until we get up for the day. I haven’t slept through the night yet on this mattress. I’ve noticed that touching any part of the bed after sleeping on it, it's quite warm. Basically that nice cooling gel sensation is temporary.  We also tried the Casper “cooling” mattress from Costco and that was even hotter than the Sealy.  After making my brain hurt from reading all the reviews and people’s recommendations only to then find threads that completely contradict the positive reviews, I'm left clueless as to what to get that is comfortable but doesn’t turn into a heater after the “cooling gel effect” disappears? I think the consensus on here is that if you sleep hot, avoid memory foam.  I am leaning towards some kind of latex hybrid. I now have to wait 2 more weeks to hit the 30 day mark and pay Mattress Firm $250 to take this mattress back and find something else.

Update: So we tried the Bedjet with their recommended cloud sheets, and that made sleeping on the Sealy Posturepedic tolerable. If you don't move around in your sleep, it works pretty well to keep the air flowing under the blanket, and you stay very comfortable. If you DO move around, and the top sheet doesn't stay put, or the air escapes, you'll wake up hot, or just your feet will get uncomfortably cold. To be clear, when it works, it is quite nice. But at $1300, (nearly the price of a new mattress), we decided it was not a very good value for it to only work some of the time, so we returned it. If it were $4-500, we probably would have kept it. We ordered the Nolah Evolution in Luxury Firm, which the company claims uses special non-memory foam material that breathes exceptionally. But after trying it out, it was actually pretty similar as far as getting hot. Just more claims of "cooling" that last 20 minutes, then turn into a heater. We then ordered the Engineered Sleep Duo Latex mattress, and found that it is the best we have tried, and we no longer wake up in a pool of sweat. The split design should allow it to last longer than a conventional one-piece mattress. We have finally gotten restful sleep after the nightmare of mattress shopping and are very happy with our purchase. Additionally, the bedroom temperature remains 72-74, and we are quite comfortable. We also ordered a set of 100% cotton sheets and blankets, which also made a difference. The breathability is quite obvious. Mattress Firm sold us $170 "cooling sheets" when they sold us the Sealy mattress, but apparently, they also hold the heat and didn't help the issue.

What are your thoughts on sealy posterpedic elite hybrid highpoint 2 14" the medium vs the soft mattress queen size How do they hold up long term? Worried with the soft version it will get indents/sagging. Best matress recommendation that holds up the best over time thats a hybrid How is the warranty on them? Recommendations for a mattress under 4k - preferably under 3k. I don't like the feel of actual temperpedica because of the odd feeling of it being firm but slowly molding to you. I also layed on a purple at matress firm but not sure I like the grid feeling. My favorite I've tried so far are the sealy posterpedic elite hybrid highpoint 2 14" mattresses I sleep on my back and side my fiance sleeps on his side.

we just got the Sealy Posturepedic® Elite Hybrid High Point II 14" Medium Mattress, around 2k (for a king) but they took money off at mattress firm because we got a previously used one, ended up being like 1200. it’s so great! i’m a side sleeper and my partner is a big dude (6’3, 200+lbs) and I can’t feel him move at all. I have back and neck problems and I haven’t had any since this one.

High point has more pressure relieving material and phase change material which makes it better at cooling. The brenham the EPT quilted top medium is just a phenomenal feeling bed and has done fantastic with us and although the High point outsells it I would say listen to your body and if you like the medium pillow top I doubt you are going to be blown away by the firm high point. I haven’t seen any Brenham Medium Pillowtops come back on happiness exchange which tells me the in home experience matches the in store pretty well of course you still have break in to get through. As far as long term it’s far to early to tell but I never had long term issues with previous models of similar Sealy mattress

No they are not the same the brenham pillowtop is designed to feel more like a traditional bed vs the high point is designed to feel like a foam bed they have completely different feels you shouldn’t experience the same slow sinking in contouring feeling

The albany is the direct step down and the entry level to the posterpedic elite line it goes ashurst, norman, lacey, albany, brenham, high point in order of quality. The pressure smart line up is a much older line. I like the sealys as the elite lineup (High Point, Brenham, and Albany) and the Lacey reinforces the center third with additional coils they call it their max support technology. The beautyrest pressuresmarts reinforce the center third with foam instead of steel, have a foam encasement instead of edge to edge coils making the center softer then the edges, and have lower quality covers. If you want best quality in a traditional innerspring Sterns and Foster is the answer. They will have 500 more coils then any of the beds listed, foams designed by tempurpedic and much tighter quality control then the other two. The estate line up is close to the same price as well. Stay away from the studio it's a sealy that has carved the face off a sterns and stapled it on.

I just bought the Highpoint two in soft. Also a side sleeper and my old mattress gave me lots of hip pain. So far, I love it! No pain and sleep much cooler.
