We tried the ProAdapt firm and also loved it but were scared off by the price tag. We ended up with the TempurPedic Supreme Firm from Costco and love it. We think it feels similar and it was almost half the price, plus the Costco backing and right now they have a $300 gift card promotion too.
This may not sound like the answer you're looking for - but my girlfriend, who has hip issues, and I, who have low back issues and have had crazy bad sciatica, found that the Tempurpedic ProAdapt Firm really worked for us. My cousin had one in his guest room - when we first sat on it, we both thought it was going to be way too firm - but once we laid on it for a while, it turned out to have enough cushioning while remaining very supportive. We both woke up amazed at how good it was. (And I'm a side sleeper.) So we ended up buying one. That said, I did try out the $5000 Williams Co. St. James Firm in a store and if money was no object, that would be my first choice.
My wife and I got a Tempurpedic California King split that has finished dimensions 84 X 36 X 12.2 IN So 7' long. I'm 6' 11" 230 pounds. I like a firm mattress and this is "proadapt firm" and is first mattress that hasn't eventually slumped for me (2.5 years in at this point). Also because the bed frame comes with remote for adjustments (raise head or legs) it also has ability to raise lumbar support, but haven't needed that yet. Previously tried Saatva Firm and was good initially but eventually had enough dip for my lower back to notice. LPT: Get a prescription from your doctor saying you need a special mattress, to buy tax free (at least in Texas). Also wait for holiday sales to buy (memorial day etc).
I agree. I would start with the pro adapt firm and also try the luxe adapt firm. Those are going to be the closest to the contour series. Start there.
Tempur rep here, so I’m biased but I can speak on the warranty. The 10 year warranty covers 3/4th of an inch of Visible sag. Not felt sag, visible. Almost every company does this though as feel sag is almost impossible to quantify. Most mattresses are 1-1.5 inches of sag before you can make a warranty claim. As the other poster mentioned, yes, if you want your former mattress removed you need to do get a mattress, it’s 1 for 1, one base for one base etc. As a heads up, the ProAdapt Firm is the firmest mattress for us, and is probably the most returned mattress because fresh out of delivery they are all much more firm. Another person here described it as concrete and I’m not disagreeing. The one you felt was a floor model that is what the PAF will feel like in 2-4 months. If you’d be so kind to shoot me a dm as I have a question about the prices you’re looking at and your location. Thank you.
So remember I can only speak in broad strokes regarding things like this. That said, I’d lean towards no but not by a lot. If you lay on your stomach you may want to go with a firmer mattress in general. The LuxeAdapt firm would probably still not be firm enough (possibly) and the ProAdapt firm is too hard. If you were considering it though, still go with the Med Hybrid over the medium as I tell my customers it feels more like laying on the bed vs laying in bed. Again my suggestion is for everyone to go try one out at a store for as long as you can, multiple times.
This. It sucks but the best thing to do is go spend an hour at least trying out different beds in person. If you go off only bad reviews you will never find a new bed. Find a store that has good reviews about the salespeople there, and let them guide you. They are there to help. Helping you helps them make money, so it’s in their best interests to get it right the first time. Understand certain bed’s quirks, like tempur-pedics take time to break in, Beauty Rest Black have been get lots of returns etc.
Tempurpedic proadapt firm is pretty damn firm, if you’re worried about sleeping hot you can do the luxebreeze firm. Great for motion transfer concerns as well. Even their medium is still pretty firm if you’re unable to stand the actual firm
Hi, I have had my "Euro-Tempurpedic" for almost 20years now. It is still firm and wonderful. But I need to replace it. It was sold in the "Rhapsody" days for those that have that model. It was very very firm. It still looks like new and almost as firm as the day I bought it. But it's a king and we can't lift it anymore or even rotate it. So I need to buy split king size. My problem is I was going to get a Adapt-Pro Firm Tempurpedic but I see all the things about not making them like they used to. I can't have a mattress sagging in a few years. I will have an adjustable base under it (now I have the Tempurpedic Foundation which is still also in great shape). Any suggestions on something that will stay as firm in a few years? My current Euro Tempurpedic was my best investment! I appreciate any advice.
we have been doing ok with our pro adapt, firm. but since we got the adjustable base at the same time, it's all be a lot to get used to. And, yes, I miss my old Euro TempurPedic and they are NOT the same company they used to be. But I am not in any pain, so the new mattress is ok so far. I would recommend, as long as you don't expect it to be like the older ones.
Can confirm. Even with a firm pro adapt I have a notable depression at 5 years (and probably have noticed it for at least 1-2 years). Just ordered a Leesa since the firm was not a good choice for me so even trying to warranty the tempurpedic wouldn’t be helpful.
I tried the Costco Casper hybrid because it was the best-rated Costco mattress on NapLab. After 3 weeks, my neck and shoulders couldn't take it anymore, so I wandered into a Mattress Firm in desperation. Purchased a Tempurpedic Pro Adapt Firm, and the pain is gone. It was $4k, but I was able to finance it at 0% over 2 years. Friends told me you should invest in things that sit between you and the ground (mattresses, tires, and shoes).
You don't know until you try them. The Luxe Adapts are some of the most supportive mattresses on the market, even in the soft. The Luxe Adapt Firm might be most similar to the older style Tempurs. The Pro Adapt Firm is great for making people realize they don't actually want (or need) the firmest mattress available.
Can confirm, Pro Adapt Firm is a literal brick. Especially if the room isn't 72f or higher.
