I have to think the tuft and needle comments are all paid - I've NEVER heard about them outside of reddit, and the comments made me purchase one - it is without a doubt the worst mattress I've ever owned and gave me back problems, because the entire bed would sink in for my partner and I was on a diagonal all night. Genuinely my most regrettable purchase - please buy elsewhere
Hi Derek, appreciate you doing this. my wife is a side sleeper, 125 pounds. we have a nice talalay latex topper of 2 inches that we got a few years ago to soften the previous mattress (which was a Sealy latex one from years ago) so now she tried using the tuft and needle from costco with it, but it was too cushy. was thinking if something durable and not too soft, (as the 2 inch topper rated soft ILD - will soften it somewhat) price is also a factor. any ideas ? we’d like to take advantage of the topper we already have , thanks
I've had a Tuft & Needle Cali King hold up quite nicely! Coming up on 10 years, so I'll be in the market soon.
We’ve had a king size Leesa (Classic, I think) for seven years and it’s maybe the best mattress I’ve ever had. I think we paid $1200. We also have a king Tuft and Needle from Amazon for about $600. It’s been good, albeit on the firm side so we put a 2” gel pad and it’s really nice. We have had mattresses from Puffy (not bad) and IKEA (way too firm). All of these are bed-in-a-box type mattresses.
Get a solid wood or steel platform frame and spend your money on a good midrange mattress (Costco, Sleep On Latex, Purple, Casper, Tuft & Needle) and a latex mattress topper if needed. I would estimate $200 frame, $500-$1000 mattress, $150 topper.
tuft and needle is fine for the price but nothing special
stay away from Purple. They have a powder in the mattress eggshell thing that some consumers dont like. I have a mattress from tuft and needle that I bought over a decade ago 750 for a king. They sold to a larger mattress maker so I have no idea current quality is. Im 215, sleep all over the bed but generally side sleeper
Do you have any input on Tuft and Needle? Ive had a king size mattress from them for about 4 years now and no complaints so far. Just wondered if you had any pros and cons
LOVE our Tuft and Needle. 7 years in.
i think the lowest end mattresses at ikea will be your limited options. they can deliver. but, as someone who got a $200 mattress for college thinking i’d upgrade sooner, PHEW did i not upgrade soon enough. i didn’t realize so much of my body pain and aches in my early twenties was a result of a bad mattress. if you have to go cheap for now, i get it. but it’s also SO worth saving up for a quality mattress you can keep for a decade plus. quality sleep will improve all other aspects of life. after saving up i personally use a tuft and needle for my own and guest bed. my parents loved it so much they got one of their own.
