"tplink just works ... I follow up with my customers each month and they say everything is much better and working great. I only hardwire nodes, never wireless, and I buy the wifi6e versions- I’m not saying tplink is better than Unifi, just saying a hardwired network and wifi where you need it is the recipe."

"I have a TP link Deco with all nodes hardwired it works brilliantly."

"this model will do you very well. ... i would always use ethernet for the backhaul for the performance and stability"

"I 'upgraded' to a deco system months ago, unaware that this is meant for the average user and advanced features are crippled, e.g. browser config is minimal as they want you to use the app. ... No luck querying the DHCP reservations from a script."

"some features on the BE65 can't be found on the XE75/XE75Pro like adjusting the channel width for the 2.4Ghz band or channel selection ... This is one feature I'm hoping comes to the XE75Pro (possibly the X50-Outdoor) since my Nest cameras would be better off utilizing the 2.4GHz connection at 20MHz channel width (they experience constant dropouts since the 2.4GHz band is being utilized at 40MHz channel width)."

"My UniFi system is far more stable than my TP-link AXE5400 ever was (I had that system previously too) but I think a large part of that is that when I got this new fancy UniFi system it was the kick in the butt I needed to get a hard wired backhaul."

I was running 3 Tp-Link Deco xe75's at our house for the past year and was not happy with the performance. Over the weekend I installed a new UniFi system consisting of a Cloud Gateway Ultra and 3 AP's, installation was easy and the performance has been excellent. I recommend taking a hard look at the Cloud Gateway's for a homeowner wants something better than what's offered off the shelf.

I have my own tp link axe75 and TP-Link deco x20 connected to the my.t shit router. My brother uses the deco since we use the 3 units to extend the network to his house next to mine. I use my own axe75. On 100mbps my.t broadband.

I bought a set of 2 used XE75 Decos for $110 shipped. They're fine for my smaller house & detached garage. The website claims the 2-pack covers up to 5,500 sq. ft. Realistically I'd say it's half that unless you have a giant open floorplan. I do like them alot. I can't speak about any of the other systems because I haven't used them. Triband will help, but alot of walls really limits the 6ghz signal. I can easily get 500-700mbps on most of my property. My fiber is only 300/300 so this is just fine for me. Gigabit speed really only works on the 6E if there are no walls between you and the Deco. It's limited to 940mbps or so due to the gigabit ethernet port.

They make a version of this with 2.5gb port - the XE75 pro. I have 2 of the XE75 gigabit models and yes transfer speeds from ethernet port are limited to about 940mbps. I'm underwhelmed by Wifi 6E in general due to range, but it still does really decent backhaul speeds. I'm considering buying 1 XE75 Pro to use as the main node and keep the XE75s as satellites. But I don't have gigabit fiber currently and it would be way overkill for my setup.

You said that you get pretty good coverage with your current router, but how are the speeds? I would go on a limb and say you're only getting 2.4ghz reception in large areas of the house and low throughput (<30mbps) Have you done any type signal testing in your house? Properly placed mesh nodes can effectively extend your 5ghz range to a much higher speed throughout the house while eliminating your dead zone. You should have no issues getting 300mbps with either of those options you mentioned. Getting too much above that you will begin to see the limitations of wireless backhaul, but realistically you should be able to see 500-700mbps in many parts of your home. I have 2 of the the XE75s (not pro) and I do think the 6ghz is a poor performer for backhaul with walls, but performance is still surprisingly good. If I could redo I'd probably go with a non-6ghz triband. Here is a comparison of the different Eero 6 devices [https://powermoves.blog/wifi/eero-review/](https://powermoves.blog/wifi/eero-review/)

And even if you enable 6ghz, it will still use it. Xe75 uses 2,4/5/6ghz same time for backhaul. You can see this if you look from deco app the second xe75. I confirmed this, I can get almost full bandwith from my 1000/1000 connection from second xe75 wireless backhaul.

Wifi 5 is 12 years old, don't buy it. Wifi 6 is the minimum you should buy. Wifi 6E adds 6GHz support, Wifi 7 adds some features for higher efficiency. Tri-band operation isfairly important for good mesh performance, that leaves the 6GHz band open for your clients and 5GHz can be used for the connection between units. A 3 pack of Deco XE75 are 226 euro, I would go that route. Should be comparable to the Eero Pro 6E units. https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Deco-XE75-Tri-Band-Comprehensive-Protection/dp/B09ZRY9YHB If your house has coaxial cable purchase some Moca 2.5 adapters. Using them to create wired links for the mesh network will substantially improve performance.

Was doing research on deco mesh systems and one thing i noticed is that there’s a lot of complaints about hardware revisions and firmware. I was interested in the ability to select preferred connection between decos and device preferred connection. That way i could set the mesh topology as i wanted while steering non mobile devices to specific decos where signals are strong from multiple decos to the correct one. Simple right? Nope. The updated firmware for this feature only applied to specific versions of hw. So a v1 xe75 got it but not a v2 at the time. Then an xe200 didnt have it at all and it some older popular models never got it at all. It just seemed like a mess and the model i ordered didnt have it but amazon lost the pkg so i got an asus instead that feature is just naturally in their firmware… Their wifi7 models all support it but it’s like they just stop supporting previous popular hardware and move on so quickly

I used to hear them non-stop and then they stopped keeping up, charged more, I heard less. 6e took a bit, but 7 took a WHILE. Stuck at 1gbps unless you wanted 20 for a bit too. I think they got a bit neglectful of prosumer. Why am I spending $400-500 for WiFi? They seem to be refocusing now. Fingers crossed. I just want the 2.5gbps to connect to my M4 MacBook air upstair at 0.25-1 gbps (6GHz, 5GHz, CAT 5e in the walls). Only CAT6 is crimped. 2 TP Link Deco XE75 (2022) \+ 3 TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro (2023) In a 1600-1700 sq ft condo is insane. I Tried 1 XE75 Pro in the basement and my wife and daughter have issues, in their room and in and kid's room. Wife comes to bed, Wifi is ok. I will be curious with my wife switching laptops to my current one) what happens.

I'd probably go with the BE65 for 'future proofing' and possibly better performance. If your budget is tight, then the Deco XE75 is a good option (keep in mind it only has gigabit ports, so you'll be limited to gigabit speeds). Both options should offer good range. It's best to hardwire each unit if possible but should still work relatively well if meshing wirelessly. Currently using 2 Deco XE75Pro and a Deco X50-Outdoor (all hardwired to a 2.5Gb network switch) in AP mode (only way I can utilize the 2.5Gb connection at the secondary Deco XE75Pro). Setup has been holding up pretty well for our needs.

What do you mean by this? I have 1 gig fiber and 3 deco mesh routers. There is one main router, and 2 that are connected by Ethernet. It’s never gone out or been flaky at all. Once a node goes out (say a firmware update) and the others pick up the slack. Literally never had an outage. It’s not flaky at all. One of the best $150 I’ve spent! There are a lot of settings and I can tweak them all, but I do like the simplicity and think it can handle the large number of streaming devices in my house really well. I work from home as a data consultant, so need to move gigs of data around without any interruption and it’s perfectly fine when I’m not plugged into the router.

Ha! It was pretty good before I wired them. I know this is a home networking sub and you are providing the most accurate and helpful answer. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the mesh for one of my co workers or family members who didn’t want to put a lot of time or money into their home network. Obviously, this is not the forum for that.
