Enlightened Equipment - Enigma

Enlightened Equipment Enigma 20F, Tremarest NeoAir XLite (go for XTherm if you want warmer, but XLite is enough). Wouldn't use a 30F bag if temps can get low enough. I basically use this kit in PNW in those temps you listed. I just wear a puffy and fleece leggings on sub-freezing days if I need a bit more warmth, and it's nice to anyway since climbing out of the bag does not feel cold if you are not naked.

I use 20F quilt in summer in PNW, in June I would take it up to 6000 feet. Enlightened Equipment Enigma 20F would have you covered for $256 right now. Get 10F model and a draft collar if you want a bit of extra warmth security.

192cm here. Long versions of Feathered Friends, Western Mountaineering, or Enlightened Equipment bags. For your temp range I use 20F EE quilt. For a tent, you can also get something longer. I use Tarptent Rainbow which leaves me with almost 30 cm to spare length wise.

Enlightened equipment. Chose your temperature, fill and size. They make wuits but the convert is awuilt with a zipper. My 20 deg bag weights 18 oz. I got the regular wide so it airy in the summer and i can wear a poofy wirth a hood when its ccols as i i like climbing mountains and backcountry skiing. I couldnt imagine a better bag. Been sleeping outside since 95.

I use a summer quilt for warm nights and an Enlightened Equipment Enigma 20°F (950 fill power) quilt for colder ones. And my pad is thermarest neoair nxt r4.5.

Everyone should avoid EE like the plague. Shure, they work fine enough, but their quilts have the most basic design possible (no differential cut, no edge tension control and super long U-shaped baffles that promote down migration and cold spots), are limit rated and quite expensive for what you get. They also own a tactical gear company which may or may not matter to you. My 20F EE quilt is a straight up piece of trash next to my 20F WM Alpinlite. I estimate that to get the same performance from EE I would have to go with a 0F bag and dedicated head insulation, at which point t somehow WM is both lighter and cheaper while also being light years ahead in terms of design and quality.

When you need more warmth you can layer a second quilt on top. I have an Enlightened Equipment 20 degree quilt and I add a summer Big Agnes synthetic quilt when I winter camp. I can also use the synthetic quilt when it’s over 60 degrees as a standalone.

My SO sleeps cold. Thermarest Trail Pro - they used to make a women's specific one. I may upgrade this to the Nemo Tensor All Season for a holiday gift. Another thing to consider is that enlightened equipment quilts are known to be a little optimistic in their temperature ratings. Their vertical baffles are also prone to down shifting and leaving dead zones. I love my enigma 20 deg but below 30 i need to start layering up or sleeping cold. The switchback is great down to about 35 for me, but most of the time if I expect colder nights I bring a pad with a higher r value. It makes a huge difference, both with a sleeping bag and a quilt, since the down underneath your body does not insulate you in a sleeping bag. My experience with sleeping bags is that if I ever roll over the bag rolls with me and the crushed down is now on top letting me get cold. I sleep much warmer in a quilt, due to tossing and turning and the quilt not moving with me, you just have to learn how to set up your pad straps properly. If you’re in the market for a new bag, you may consider Timmermade’s hybrid bags. They are a quilt with an actual bottom like a sleeping bag that just isn’t full of down. So you get the weight savings of a quilt but the draft protection of a sleeping bag. Downside is dealing with the Timmermade monthly lottery to order, but the temp ratings are also really bomber!

I did just that same thing. Had an EE 20° down quilt and eventually got an EE 40° synthetic wide quilt. Wide so that in really cold temps it can go over my 20°. Tested it out this past winter and the combo kept me warm at -3°F, and that's probably approaching my comfort threshold.

I’ve got a regular length/wide Enlightened Equipment 20F with 950 fill down I’m ready to part with if you’re interested. I wanted it to save space while bikepacking but that phase of my life seems to be over for now. Probably only has 10 nights to it.

I prefer down sleeping bags with a correct r-rated sleeping pad for the right season. REI makes really good down bags. In the summer I use an enlightened equipment 20 degree quilt. I can take the quilt from near freezing to ambient temperature
