Wow. Beautiful and easy to digest chart. Just picked up a disco 30 for my set up. Much more comfy and pack able than my old synthetic mummy bag. Love the wiggle room
The 30 is the -1C right? Slept in that in -3C naked and was perfectly comfortable. Sure you had a pad that was warm enough?
Nemo Disco 30 is perfect. I always bring thermals to sleep in and if you get cold just put your jacket on but give never had to. You’ll be good.
Another reccomendation for the disco 15. I have a 30 and I can't wait to get into it every time I use it but you will get cold with a 30 unless you pad up and bundle up. Most comfortable bag I've slept in as a side sleeper/restless sleeper.
I researched for similar needs (seve gearlab site for comparative sleeping bag reviews). I decided on a Nemo Disco 30, on sale now at Amazon $196 (US). Hydrophobic down, roomy for side sleepers, under 2.5 lbs, has ventilating zippered gills for higher temp venting. Lifetime warranty. Also considered RAB neutrino 400. These are also down bags. Synthetic fill better in wet conditions at penalty of heavier and will not compress as small.
Went camping last night and it got down to 41°. I wouldn’t say I was cold, but you could feel the cold on the inside of the bag. I have a Nemo Disco 30. Thinking it may get colder, I took my fire belly 30° quilt out and stuffed it in my sleeping bag. Slept super toasty the rest of the night. I know how the ratings work and know it’s a very subjective question, but how far have you pushed your bags without adding something else? On another topic, vented my fly to keep condensation down but I suspect it also didn’t help to keep the warmth in. Are yall closing the fly in colder temps and just dealing with the condensation on the inside of the fly? It wasn’t an issue because the fly stays off the tent and it wasn’t dripping. Just wondering if it would’ve been warmer
I opted for the Nemo bag because it has the wider foot box and it’s spooned shaped. Lets me turn from side to side pretty easy
I have a disco 30, M44. I went camping in May (65°F low) and September (60°F low) and was too hot, had to unzip and use like a blanket. I also went further North in October (45°F low) and was comfortable. My daughter has a Sea to Summit (30°F) and she was cold. Liners are an option but a royal PITA if you have to pee at night. In hindsight, I'd have gotten a lightweight quilt for warmer months and a 15°F for her.
The Nemo Disco 30 and Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Venture Large give me plenty of comfort and space to sleep on my side.
I have had a mummy bag in the past and recently purchased the NEMO Disco 30. It is so much more comfortable and I LOVE it. If you like to move around and are a side sleeper I highly recommend the spoon-shaped bags, they are much easier to settle into in my opinion. Another benefit is if you have a partner you can zip it together with the men's version of this same model. I don't know how useful it would really be in practice but its a fun feature to get a larger quilt/bag imo.
Omg I love Nemo bags too. I have the 30F Disco and want the 15F one.
