I bought the Polaroid Hi-Print 2nd Gen to print photos for my bullet journal and to give to friends/family. The printer itself doesn’t come with a cartridge included (I got mine from Fantasy Toys), so I had to order paper separately. I ended up buying the 60-photo pack on Amazon for $44. I later found out that Xcite (online) sells the 20-photo pack for 6 KWD. Still, I preferred the Amazon option since it gave me more than double the prints at a better price compared to Xcite. Just something to keep in mind if you get the Polaroid Hi-Print 2nd Gen be surprised like I was jaja.

They don't stick much though. Source: I have the usb-c model of this hi-print printer. Apart from that, very fun to use.

I have the canon selphy 1500 and that is 6x4 photos and the quality is excellent. I recently bought the Polaroid hi print gen2 for portability and I really like it so far. Quality is not as good as the selphy but it's more good enough for my little travel/personal journal. I didn't buy the selphy qx20 as the hi print was on sale near me and about $100 cheaper. Otherwise I'd probably would have went with the qx20. I plan on taking the hi print with me to Korea in 2 weeks time so I can journal during my down time.

The hi print cartridges and the retro cartridges are interchangeable. I have the retro cartridges but have not used them yet. Yes, the sticky back aren't that good on the hi print cartridges but I don't mind as I prefer to use glue tape. For the small form factor of these printers, I am not expecting amazing quality. For me, the hi print is good for the portable size and what I am using it for. I think just give one a go, they're fun regardless.

I was the same! I thought it looked blurry and not very vibrant but weirdly I used it again after a long break and it's def alot better and I even looked back at old photos incase I was imagining it. I can't imagine how, but perhaps the app got better and so the printer could print better

Agreed! The quality on the hi-print is much way better than the canon ivy!

Hello everyone! Not too long ago I made a post on asking for portable printer recommendations and many of you offered great options! I had previously bought the canon ivy but did not like the picture quality. I decided to go with the Polaroid hi-print! The one on the left is the Polaroid and the one on the right is the canon. The Polaroid definitely beats the canon. It also offers sticky pack prints! Just what I was looking for ☺️ and as you can see it’s slightly bigger. If you’re wondering, the canon ivy does weigh less than the Polaroid. The Polaroid has a little bit more weight to it but it’s nothing to worry about when traveling with it. I’ll be returning the canon ivy and keeping the Polaroid hi-print. Thank you all for your help and recommendations!

It definitely is closer to the original image. But I mainly picked the Polaroid for clarity. The canon looks too blurry to me and the colors look like it won’t last long on the sticky paper. Like the quality of the photo looks faded. I’m not sure how the pictures would look with really dark colors. I have a cat myself but I don’t think this pic will give you a good idea how a void will look like 😆 lololol. https://preview.redd.it/b1da5yclusie1.jpeg?width=1576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=afd7cfad7e6e5c92f586aa7080e478b7d009a95e

Unfortunately, it does not. I don’t see options to decorate or even do collages. But I think I’ll just use a separate app to make collages and then print it on the Polaroid.

I recently got the Polaroid Hi-Print 2x3 photo printer and really like it! I have an Android and use Google Photos. The only issue I've had is that it seems like I have to "forget" the Bluetooth connection and reconnect it each time I want to use it. I don't have that problem with the mini Link that prints photos in the old polaroid style, though, so it seems to just be a quirk. I like both of them!

I disliked the instax for the reasons OP mentioned. Here’s a hamsa and a print from the Polaroid. Great clarity, even with detail and not much light. The white band at the bottom is where you hold it if you want the photo as a sticker - peels off easily and adheres well. Or you can keep it as a photo. I can only attach one photo per reply - I’ll post one more to show you how it looks on a TN page.

I have both and a normal printer. I will admit my favorite way is just a regular printer with sticker/label paper, it’s the thinnest option for me (creating less bulk) and the stickers stick well. I have a blade with a rotating tip so I can get the ‘kiss-cut’ and don’t have to cut with scissors. I travel light so my instant camera (instax sq6) barely sees the light of day so it depends how much you’ll carry it, the film is also quite thick. I’m also a bit eh on the photos and wasted quite some film but i think I just haven’t practiced taking instant photos. Photo printer (I have the Polaroid Hi-Print) is really nice to have so it is the first option when I need a quick pic or 2. They don’t stick very well though in my experience but thats easy to fix and it’s fine after a few days between the pages.
