Sony - SRS-XB100

A couple of the sony xb100 sounds superb. Connect it to a tv and it gives a good stereo sound for movies too. If you get even more, can use its wireless party chain function

I have one too, and can confirm the call quality is excellent. This is not a party speaker, but the audio quality for music is fantastic for such a small speaker. I have the Tribit Stormbox 2 and prefer the look and the sound of the Sony at low volumes. The Tribit blows it away if you need higher volume however.

For mini BTs, I went for (2) Sony XB100s (L & R) mainly for the driver size.

If you need something that portable, it's about as good as it gets. There are a few competing models of a similar size that make slightly different tradeoffs, like the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2, the Soundcore Select 4 Go, or the JLab Pop Party, but ultimately nothing that's fundamentally better, especially in areas that small speakers always struggle with, like bass response or volume.  If you're tight on budget, but flexible on size, you've got some interesting options like the Sony SRS-XB100, the Soundcore 3, or the JLab Go Party. Although the Go 4 is still a credible choice, especially if clear sound is more important to your than big sound.

I’d fully recommend the Sony XB100 for your use case. It has low latency (good for video) and detailed mids, which makes listening to vocals clear. It also has a very good strap and is waterproof, the bass and battery life for the size is impressive. But, if available in your country, the Xiaomi Sound Pocket is the best price/performance small speaker at the moment and is only around $15

Because if you want stereo that badly you buy 2 mono speakers that can L/R pair and call it a day. Sony SRS-XB100, are my choice. Not overly expensive for a pair either.

It's terrible vshape tuned. Stormbox micro 2 wipes the floor with it.

a pair of sony xb100. possibly the best mini speakers that have AAC and SBC audio codecs. super easy to pack 2 small speakers vs 1 bigger speaker imo.

i still use my XB30 which is already +5 years old but still great battery life.  just bought a pair of xb100 bc i wanted portable mini speakers.

i dont think a +$200 boutique speaker is a good choice for a travel speaker imo. i would rather have something cheaper i dont mind losing/damaging bc thats going to happen during a trip. idk how you travel but i prioritize weight-savings and convenience (ie packing instant coffee vs aeropress). in OP's context something small with good bluetooth connection is better. the minirig only truly shines via aux IMO. however its only *splash resistant* and not fully IP68 that a travel speaker should be. even a sony xb100 ticks all the right boxes and is 400% cheaper and fully dust and water proof.

Sony xb100 and ult 1 have pretty good range, i guess like 30ft in stereo pairing mode usually, it depends on circunstances a bit. Not sure how far the new auracast generation of jbl reaches.
