I have M14 as well. Useful in a pinch while travelling. Which ThinkPad do you have? P14s gen 5/6? The hinge is likely give away.
I have a different Acer portable monitor and it’s great. When I used to travel for work it was a life savior. No negative comments to report, survived 3 years of being on the road every day. Train rides, airports, hotels, random client offices… survived it all. Not sure if that matters to you, but I actually just picked up a Lenovo M14 portable monitor to be a second screen for my desktop for misc applications like discord etc when I game with friends on the weekends. That one is amazing as well.
My Acer is powered by the USB. The Lenovo has a separate power plug
This has been so long ago I can barely remember, but I think I tried the lenovo M14 and was really unimpressed with it, so I returned it. IIRC correctly, the main issues were that it was really wobbly and the pen experience was not great, but don't remember exactly what it was about the pen that I didn't like. I didn't try any other touchscreen monitors after this.
Had a Lenovo M14 for years now and it’s a perfect companion.
I do have a second portable Lenovo M14 screen for travel with the laptop, which is a major boon for the occasional "work from someone else's home" (family during the holidays). I can't take meetings on one screen anymore--screenshare _and_ notes _and_ my own tests require at least four windows. I'm mostly desk-bound due to hardware requirements, though I can SSH into my desktop from anywhere to use it's horsepower. I kinda like being in one "workspace" for most tasks. I take reading to my armchair sometimes, when I have an hour to do nothing but go over a new standard or something.
I have the Lenovo M14 (1920x1080; there is also the M14d which is 16x10 aspect ratio). USB-C for both video and power. It has a sturdy flip stand, which I would take over a kick stand, and which includes 2 USB-C connectors, one on either side (one reviewer wished that there was a connector on the back - oh, well). Just tried it with my Lenovo Duet and it just worked. It came with a foam sleeve that would provide excellent protection, albeit it is a bit bulky.
If you want to go all Lenovo, get a ThinkVision M14. The regular model is pretty cheap now. The 14t has touchscreen and pen support, the 14d has a 16:10 ratio and higher pixel density. I've used the M14 and M14t with a T14s and other newer laptops with no issues.
The M14 series are great little screens. I'm wishing they made a 14" 2.8k IPS version to match the pixel density of an X1 Carbon screen.
Depending on your laptop something to watch out for is some of the screens with batteries can require more power than your USB C port can deliver. I used to use a 14” Lenovo screen with no battery and power pass through, now I use a 13” iPad Pro with duet display to reduce the number of devices I need to carry. They can make difference depending on your workflow, I’m a fan.
I had a M14 until a few weeks ago when I put it in a grocery bag and cracked the screen. If they release an updated one with a 16:10 ratio I might buy again.
