UPerfect brand has been fairly reliable for me. That said, a 4k monitor under 17in provides little visible benefit especially for movies, and may be troublesome for you because of how sensitive almost all monitors are to cable quality and signal dropout -- most will drop down to 30hz at 4k unless you also drop 50 bucks on a very good cable and treat it with utmost care. After going through about a dozen different portable screens, the ones I find most useful are FHD with a built-in stand (not a floppy cover, just slide it in facing your laptop for travel) and vesa mount holes. For work, I found this dual-screen one ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D45LM2S7 ) to be a true game-changer, with the effective total screen size of a 21in monitor, and it works on windows and linux without a driver or any hassle. For an ultra-compact alternative have a look at this one ( https://www.amazon.com/JoyReal-Portable-Touchscreen-Extender-Temperature/dp/B0C776ZZBH/ ) with a smaller screen but built-in speakers and stand, great for streaming movies and good sound. Lastly, the largest single screen that would still fit in a normal-ish laptop bag is this one ( https://www.amazon.com/UPERFECT-Adjustable-Ultra-Slim-Lightweight-Frameless/dp/B08L5SRCZJ/ ) also with a great built-in stand that protects ports while not in use, but the price jumps from ~150 for FHD to 350-500 for the 4k version.

Uperfect is fine. If its really is 125% srgb, that is more than enough to show you all the colours. 2000:1 contrast is also above average compared to the usual 1000:1 for screens that sized. It loses massively to any normal monitor its size, but is good for a portable one.

I tried to use an ipad as a second monitor and just couldn't do it. Being smaller than my laptop, it just wasn't helping at all other than being at eye level (which I can just do with the laptop). I ended up buying the UPERFECT 18 inch portable monitor. It's just the right size not too heavy and big enough to not lose productivity against my usual monitor. As for stands, so the UPERFECT portable monitor has an in built stand. But what I do is I prop it up on my Roost Laptop stand. So it's almost exactly eye level. And the roost stand is super light so amazing for travel. Highly recommend using a laptop stand. I considered a specifically "portable monitor stand" but they looked pricey and heavy. So glad I did this instead If you want I can take a photo tomorrow to show what I do. Also as someone else was saying, you really have to just try it yourself. I taped paper on my monitor to test if I could work with a 13 inch screen. Spoke to friends. The solution I ended with (and am super happy with) was not at all what I thought I'd do when I started thinking about it

I used a uperfect usb c monitor for about a minute and it worked. I don't know more than that as the monitor had a fault and I'm waiting on a replacement. I'd choose on Ali express, the 16inch 120hz portable OLED or the 13 inch 1080p 60hz OLED at around Β£200 and Β£100.

I recommend the UPEFECT. I use mine for my ROG Ally and Samsung Dex setups.
