"Got the dream a few weeks ago. It's a game changer. I had a Neato and a few iRobots over the years. With those units, I spent more time pulling out dog hair and untangling rollers than actually using the product."

Don't pick the Q7 M5 because it doesn't have ANY obstacle avoidance, the Q10 S5 has obstacle avoidance but only for large objects not toys, no Roborock robot for 250€ will give you the obstacle avoidance system that you need. I would personally look at a Dreame robot with obstacle avoidance like the Dreame D10s Pro
Just get the top level dreamebot or roborock (same company owns both). Their robots do an excellent job, and the app works really well!
Looks like you’re right, they are technically not both currently owned by xiaomi, but they share a ton of similarities. My coworker has a dreamebot and his app, replacement parts, features are nearly identical to my roborocks.
# TLDR: Get the **L10s Pro** if it's within budget. If not, **D10 Plus** is the best bang for the buck **with a base**. Auto-empty is a game-changer in a dusty home. # Model Rundown: # ✅ L10s Pro * **Best cleaning performance** of the group (top-tier suction + obstacle avoidance) * **Does wet mopping well** with rotating pads * No base, but solid overall * **Best for large apartments** if you don’t mind emptying it manually # ✅ L10s (non-Pro) * Older, still solid * Has AI navigation and **comes with an auto-empty base** * Slightly weaker suction than Pro, less smart avoidance # ✅ D10s Pro * Decent suction and basic lidar nav * **No base** * Good for smaller or simpler homes — not ideal for large, dusty spaces unless you’re OK emptying it often # ✅ D10 Plus * Similar to D10s Pro but **comes with a base** * Very basic navigation (bumps into stuff sometimes), but **great value** for the price # Why the Base Matters (especially with dust): If your place gets dusty and you’re busy (or just hate emptying bins daily), the base makes life *so* much easier. You can go a couple of weeks without touching the robot. Totally worth it if that’s a pain point. # 🏆 Recommendation Based on Budget Priorities: * **Top pick overall**: L10s Pro (best clean + navigation, even without base) * **Best value with base**: D10 Plus * **All-around balance**: L10s (base + decent mopping) Let me know your price ceiling and I can tell you exactly what to grab and what to skip.
I'm on my 3rd generation device now, started with a Roomba, then Eufy, now a Dreambot - each is obviously better than the last, but i had attributed that mostly to it simply being a new product space and so advancements are regular and large. The roomba barely did any mapping, and the app was bare bones...seems like it's only made a tiny bit of progress in the last 9 years. Definitely spent more time babysitting/maintaining the Roomba than i saved by using it to vacuum lol, but i like tech so thats ok
I mean they are German data privacy certified to not store or stream images (unless you're watching it). So beyond lying about that (which is possible 🤷🏾♂️), on paper their camera-based systems are processing live data, not storing & analyzing (like Gmail or iOS or whatever). I'm personally more skeptical of the ubiquity of voice assistants (thus always on mics) but I do also like the aspect that a robot with onboard voice control, can remain disconnected from the network after first provisioning it. I already have the Google assistant always on, so I personally would rather have only 1 always on mics scenario... But that's already a bust bc i use Sonos voice too 🥴 I'm glad it works well for you! A good rule of thumb would be to assume that the product probably has a very strict cyber security profile (and it does) coming from a country that faces a lot of scrutiny for their data propriety and the product being an ultra-prestige brand, not an unlabeled knockoff. Now if you think they're lying then 🤷🏾♂️ I'm personally most concerned if/when landlords or insurance agencies use these robots' data. In that regard, I think I'm pretty safe with a dreamebot 😅
A lot of complaints, in my opinion, are with vacs that are either super-cheap, lack actual mapping capabilities, and/or lack dirt detection & suction levels. We've had Roomba (overpriced, sluggish innovation), Neato (defunct), Roborock, and now the Dreametech D10s, bought December 2023. It's great. However, we have hard surface flooring, so your mileage may vary on carpeted spaces. We have 2 housecats who shed incessantly. There are some idiosyncrasies with the app, but it is good overall. Easy to maintain, does a great job navigating without "ping-ponging", and has \*\*never\*\* gotten stuck someplace, unless a door gets closed on it. It also allows for multiple floors and/or maps, and you can easily switch between them. Brushroll is a rubber roll, so hair does not impede cleaning. I have absolutely no use for the mopping function, and wish that would get dropped from robovacs.
We’ve been running a Dreame D10s for 2yrs now, it’s been excellent, haven’t had a single issue with it, navigation round a quite complex downstairs map is great and it is able to detect rugs / carpets and hard floors correctly. Consumables are readily available from aliexpress. I was slightly sceptical of buying a random Chinese brand but even if I died tomorrow I’d quite happily buy the new version of it.
I started with a dumb bump around Eufy 11s refurb years ago. Ran it for years, replaced one wheel and a battery (super easy, love the support parts). Just got a refurb Dreame 10s which adds mapping and mopping. I’m sure the latest models does more, but there are so many models and updates, I’m perfectly happy to be behind the curve, save the money, and still have a clean house.
- Dreame robo vacuum flashed with valetudo: cheap, private and clean - Automatic blinds with HA control to automatically close/open on sunny side on hot days: always cool and no need to think about - esp-devices like wemos d1 Mini with esphome: super cheap all-round devices, generic base software with crazy variability and perfect HA integration
The Dream app is pretty good actually in my opinion. I just bought a D10 for $200 and I’m very satisfied.
