Dreame - L40S Ultra

Yeah, my observations are identical. We recently started looking at robot vacuums, after we returned our Eufy X10 Pro Omni, and it seemed as if every single model has issues, yes, plural :D We ended up getting the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and albeit it's doing a pretty good job, it suffers from the issue where it randomly drops its mop pads and I have to re-attach them manually. We worked around this by having the robot not leave them at the station while vacuuming. Oh well.

I had the X10 Pro Omni and it was great, but it’s software went downhill after a certain version and the robot became pretty much unusable. I ended up swapping it for a Dreame L40s Pro Ultra and never looked back. Granted, the Dreame was €200 more, but it’s money well spent.

Our L40s Pro Ultra suffers from the "mop pads random detachment issue". Otherwise, it's a pretty solid choice. Do your research before getting it, though, as you may have to deal with returns / replacements. Contrary to what most people are saying, dealing with Dreame's support has been great - fast and adequate responses.

Yup, I feel you. L40s Pro Ultra is a great value for money and the mop pads issue is the only one I’ve encountered so far.

If you don’t care about possible returns / exchanges, go for it. I just find it super annoying to have to send back both the robot and the station, even if only one of them is problematic, but oh well…

We got a Dreame L40s Pro Ultra for 749 EUR and it's been awesome. I was also looking at the Mova V50 (Pro / Ultra / Whatever), but it was about 200 EUR more, so I decided against it. Roborock Saros 10r also seems to get good reviews, but it too is on the more expensive side. P.S. We used to have the Eufy X10 Pro Omni, but their firmware turned out to be complete garbage and we returned it for a full refund.

If you are willing to spend, get the Mova V50 Pro Ultra Complete. If not - the Dreame L40s Pro Ultra (brilliant value for money, got ours for about €750).

Hey, I am as excited as you are to test a DJI robot, but that's all. Test it. I can't see any reason to wait, because it could (and likely will) have quirks that need to be worked out. And I like DJI. There are a lot of brands, but I agree with the Roborock sentiment for this reason: they are consistently putting out good machines, whereas most other companies are hit and miss for me, and some are just consistent misses. If your dad is getting these clean via Swiffer, almost anything is going to be better or atleast the same, EXCEPT for the "edges" of rooms. He may still Swiffer, but atleast it'll only be toekicks, corners, under the stove/fridge, etc. I don't have numbers on the Saros downward force... they may well be out there. But just think of it this way, that lifting chassis brings up the front of the robot to go over thresholds. The back is forced downward, where the mop is. What I can say is that I think you can't go wrong here and you're probably making yourself more nuts than you have to. Both were GREAT machines and honestly, I had a very hard time saying one was better. They're mildly different, that's all. Based on what you're saying, if you trust me, go with a 10R.

The J15 Ultra, with the razor cutters on the roller, is still the right vacuum. Buy it off the Eureka site, where its $550, if you can comfortably stretch. Don't get the Mova. The Dreame L40 Ultra is very good and would be a GREAT buy-remember reviewers bought it at 3x the price and like me, were reviewing it as a premium robot against other premium robots. For under $500? No brainer, its fantastic. Does that make sense? I think you have 2 great options. the L40 ultra or the J15 Ultra (through the Eureka website).

sure. If you are willing to spend $100 more, get the Dreame L40 Ultra. it's on clearance, so its $474, but this was a VERY popular model, and you're getting a premium, $1500 robot at 1/3 of the price. It's such a good deal it's hard to argue for anything else at that price point. Don't get another Eufy. This will be better.

Almost all robots have sensors so that they're not going to fall off your stairs, and the vast majority have multi-floor mapping. If you can score an l40 ultra for under $500 I would grab it as soon as you can.

The curve and edge are the same model. Personally, I happen to enjoy the look of the curve more because I'm sick of square towers. It's a personal preference. But, you don't really need to have that conversation. Because the l40 ultra is such a good deal. I would grab it.

I would get the l40 ultra, I would get it today while it's on Prime sale and I would get it from Amazon. Mostly because it's a very easy return situation if you need it, while you get all of the customer support from the original brand.

I'd get the L40 Ultra. too good a deal to pass up, even though I'm a roborock loyalist.

As a fellow spoonie, I get you. OK. so some reality checks. Those shredded pet toys and cardboard are an issue. You've got to get those off the floor or any 700 robot is going to get stuck on them. If they're big enough toy floof clouds, the robot will avoid them because it perceives them as poop, but they have to be pretty big for that. We can solve that some different ways. Similar issue in kitchen (i experience this as well). Stains from the splatters are hard for robots to get. You need that pressure that manual mops have. But we can work around that too. You could run the robot ON the mat, but getting the robot onto the map is gonna be tough. if you could find a spot to add a tiny ramp (a piece of foam or triangle of wood) that'd help. Folding it up would suck. the dust, floor types, etc.. none of those are an issue. So... at 700$, you've got a few options. The J15 Ultra, purchased on Eureka, for $550. its out of stock at Amazon, but its a very good buy. The Pro Ultra will be on sale tomorrow, with a coupon that'll bring it down to 750, if you can swing it. This would be a great buy, good mop, etc but its not going to solve the above problems, we have to get around those. It will get the center of your rooms clean, and does as good a job on the edges as you can hope for. There's the L40 Ultra, as you mentioned. A great premium robot, but its' gonna get caught on debris, and my gut, since I know precisely the debris you're talking about in the kitchen/dog, is that the debris is often bigger than a cheerio. Dropped receipts, hair ties, (looking around my floor rn for reference), rando bits. But its an undeniable good deal. I liked the Qrevo MaxV... the Pro is a lesser vacuum but not terrible (haven't tested it, just reading the featureset differences https://www.rtings.com/robot-vacuum/tools/compare/roborock-s8-maxv-ultra-vs-roborock-qrevo-pro/49691/60895) The Curv is a legit better robot than these, but $$$$. I would encourage you to consider the 3i P10. I've just started playing with it, but since i'd REALLY like it if you could swing the 3i S10 which is kind of the total problem solver, this is a good backup at 599$ (and someone gave me a promo code good for 10% off it you buy it today). OK. so again... short of the s10, you're going to need to mitigate some stuff. The fluff/cardboard. if bending over and cleaning is rough, get a standing rake and collection bin. to help grab all of that, and your kitchen debris that's too large. Hold onto the dustmop (it can use wet mops, I assume?) and use that when there's a stain the robot can't touch, or once in a while around the "edges" of the room. I literally just had this convo in a PM w someone from rtings. I do. I thought the L40 was a better robot than most Dreame models, and while I didn't find it worth the value at the original price, I do think its worth it on sale. The P10 doesn't have longevity, IMO, because I think they skimp on hardware to keep the costs down. That's my hot take, and I totally get that I'm an island (I also dislike Eufy, and people in this sub love them) but I use a different testing method than most other testers (I test in an actual home setting), and I stand by it. The thing is, in that band, the L40 is my last pick. I'd get either the J15 or 3i before I got the L40. In the end, the model you pick is likely going to be fine, regardless. you haven't tested 100 robovacs, so like a virgin on your wedding night, it's all probably gonna seem great. if you feel strongly about the P10, go for it.

I prefer the other two models in that price band, but the L40 is still a great machine and its a fantastic price.

Yes the L40S or even called L40 PRO in some regions has additional features compared to the L40 ultra. And yes dreame's product marketing team gotta be high all the time 🤣

Thanks for the update! And the explanation on the L40S Ultra. After I realized it had bad obstacle avoidance I returned it on Amazon without opening it. Still waiting on the reviews for the Aqua 10, Z60 and Flow. On the one star reviews, I notice a lot of the Amazon reviews are bundled together for different robots. For instance the MOVA Z60 reviews are mostly MOVA V50 reviews. How is that handled?

Hey mate. I’m in Australia too and doing the same research. My shortlist for this price range is eufy x10 pro Omni at Harvey Norman for $999 or Dreame l10s pro ultra heat $1199 at Amazon. I’m currently determining if it’s worth stepping up to mova p50 pro ultra ($1750) or Dreame L40s pro ultra ($1799) as I have two messy young children and full size single story house for it to look after.

I think I have landed on the Dreame L40s pro ultra on sale at JB currently. Seems to have all the features. If you are dead set on cutting roller the mova seems a goer.

I have ADHD and cleaning is not one of my passion. I also live by myself so if I don't clean, no one will. Usually I'd clean every weekend or at least I try to lol which means no vacuuming/mopping during the week or over a week. I have 2 cats so their shedded fur, little pieces of litter and the food crumbs were always on the floor. they'll accumulate again after a day so I kinda closed one eye (or both 😂) and ignored them.... so y'all can understand why I really wanted one Coming to a messy home is frustrating and having messy living space doesn't help with my psyche. It was just so difficult to make a decision as every big brands have x variations of the same "model" and they all seem to have similar features.... and most of the official websites don't really offer customer friendly comparison tool. so honestly I didn't know what to buy. After weeks of watching review/test videos on YT, lurking on this subreddit & Vacuum Wars. I decided to get mid-range robot vacuum while there is end of financial year sale (I'm in Australia) and the only way to get over analysis paralysis is to compare directly. My initial budget was around $1200AUD so I shortlisted vacs around that price range and also included ones up to $1500ish if it was highly recommended by the reviewers (that didn't have "paid promotions"). Once I listed all the key features and specs, I highlighted the ones that stands out (top 2-3) and according to this analysis Dreame was the winner. I pondered buying L30 but really liked the extending side brush. I put it to the test as soon as I set it up, and it vacuumed and mopped almost perfectly! The floor hasn't been mopped over 3 weeks so there were some parts that were still not clean after initial vacuum&mop cycle so I ran it again for areas that still needed more rub. The floor is a section of the living room where I had the most foot traffic so I ran 2 cycles.. I really cannot complain how well it did. One thing I didn't realise was that it only has the extending brush on the right side and there's none on the left and it still vacuumed just fine. I've set up 2 daily cycles: vacuum only in the morning and vacuum+mop in the afternoon so the house would always be clean when I come home after work or when I finish wfh. I haven't tried cleaning on the carpet as I'll need to pick things up from the bedroom floor, I'll post an update when I run them in the bedrooms tomorrow or this weekend. I'm so happy that I finally bought one and it's doing a great job!

I have an l40S ultra (got it on sale for $850 on amazon), and I had to put a piece of acrylic under the base because it’s on carpet and the vacuum completely fails to dock if the dock is on carpet…

This must be something else, as I used to have this weekly for years on my 6 year old Roborock S50. Recently I got myself the Dreame L40S with the same duo brushes, and it's amazing 😍 NEVER has this problem anymore.

Yeah it sucks (no pun intended) on carpet, I have to manually hand vacuum carpets myself, luckily I only have a few. Aside from that, everything else is solid.

Just got the L40s Pro Ultra for 650€ and super happy with it.
