"significantly worse object avoidance than than the Dreame x40 and L40 ... The best feature of the L40/X40/p10 pro ultra is that they have class leading object avoidance so you don't have to pick up your cat's toys or prep your house every time you want to run the robot meaning you can run it on a daily schedule which will keep your house cleaner. ... I run my X40s daily and they never get stuck on cables, cat toys and other random junk that ends up on the floor."

"It hasn’t gotten stuck once ... no wires eaten ... the robot runs without hallucinating and stopping halfway through a vacuum cycle. ... After 15 cycles i’ve seen it go under metal chairs and in tight crevices in my house that would consistently make the roomba throw error codes and stop at least every other day. ... It’s never gotten stuck and on the highest settings in intensive cleaning modes i’m able to vacuum and mop 1800 sq ft in 3 hours, the roomba it’d take 3-4 hours just to vacuum alone, if it didn’t get stuck and shut down after 90 minutes."

"one of the best features is probably the obstacle avoidance. In the 300 hours that I've run the robots, they have practically never gotten stuck on cords, cat toys or other common household obstacles, maybe 1-2% of the time. ... This means I can run the robot every night reliably and wake up to the robot sitting in its dock and have a clean floor to start the day."

"Twin rollers are a bit nicer if you’ve got pets that shed a ton ... Twin rollers are genuinely helpful for pets. They grab more hair and are less prone to tangles compared to the single roller, so that’s the biggest dog-owner benefit."

"My X40 picks up everything on the carpet and even leaves it decently combed"

"It also has enough power on turbo to suck up a half size paper towel."

"I have an X40 Master and would not want to go back to filling and emptying water tanks. ... I have a lot of floor area so depending on how much water I set my earlier model robot to use, it could run out before the clean is finished. The X40 Master solves that problem completely."

"I definitely do not have a floor drain. Just added it to my drain. ... It’s really not. I uses a 3/8 water tee which I got at Home Depot that you typically use to plumb an ice machine for the water inlet. Then for the exit they make adapters that will get it to your sewer tap T also at Home Depot. I think all in all it cost me less than $20. The only thing I had to order was a 3:8 to 1:4 inch adapter for the Compression line on the dirty water. You could get a plumber to do this for you, but they’re gonna charge an arm and leg. It took me all of 20 minutes once I had the right parts."

"excellent hair tangle resistance since you can run the tricut brush. ... I have 2x Dreame x40s and they have the same brush system as the l40 and I have one running the tricut and one without it. Both have been excellent with resisting hair wrap with the tricut having zero hair tangled on it and the regular brush having a small amount on the ends."

"Im running the regulator rubber roller even though I ended up with 2 hair cutting rollers, and have had no hair tangling or balling up issues."

"Have the Dreame with the Trucut brush and never had any issues. ... Previous canister vacuums were always getting tangled with my wife's hair so I would say it works well"

"stopped doing edges ... each week it got worse at navigation, essentially only doing half rooms ... stopped sweeping and mopping anywhere it transitioned from rug to floor ... It would leave 2 ft circumference around every rug unswept which was horrible near dog doors and the rug in front of them (main reason I got vacuum!) ... But was not willing to deal with it stopping sweeping the entire floor. ... It was glitching out around edges"

"I had to replace roller twice because object detection was lacking and roller tore."

"The x40 that I bought was refurbished and had wonky navigation so I sent it back"

r/RoborockDid anyone Upgrade from roborock S7 MaxV Ultra to newer models flagship models? Did you notice improvements? if so what was is? if I upgrade I plan to get next model with direct water and drain plumbing.

Upgraded from s7 maxv ultra with the heater attachment and self plumbing / drain kit. I loved the s7 but i dread washing the filter and brushes because of the amount of gunk and the smell. I think i have very hard water so all of this congeals on the filter. The water tank above the mop also develops a bunch of black gunk as its very hard to wash the inside. Ive tried vinegar, alcohol, bleach, etc etc. You will see much less and limited models if youre in the US for direct drain and plumbing as it is not typically code to drain water here vs asia or europe. Anyway, i think only the x40 master from dreame or there is a saros one that comes with a complete plumbing kit. I chose the x40 master and although performance is on par, i see a few noticable improvements such as navigation, much quieter, flexible arms and mop for edge cleaning, and most importantly automatic hot water washing. No more stinky filters to clean and the entire pan can be easily removed and everything is accessible to clean. There is no more deattachable water tank on the x40. I think there is an internal one but it gets drained out and much smaller? I no longer smell dirty water when mopping also. I dont think i get much performance gains except for the edge cleaning . The rest are quality of life upgrades.

Agreed that its quite loud. Much better on the new one. The stinky mop i believe is derived from the water source and duration that it stays. Unfortunately not much i can do about that. I do have to say the obstacle avoidance is also much better. The s7 caught everything and got intangled everywhere. The x40 does a much better job. It got tangled once or twice but i blame my messy kids for leaving their mess everywhere...

Dreame X40 master and never have to refill water or dump dirty water ever again. Really minimizes maintenance compared to my previous Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra with add on mop dryer.

Dreame X40 master is on sale. After a more complicated install the maintenance is the least out of any robot. Currently on sale for $699.

The Dreame X40 Master is on the supported list, it's in the top 20 ranking on RobotWars and seems to support all modern robot vacuum features like vacuum/mop, auto empty station, vision and LIDAR navigation. If it were me, that's the one I'd pick.

r/RobotVacuumsBest robot vacuum with no mop pad washing dock?

Do you have the cash to buy the master series from Dreame? Base it’s more compact but you need to connect it to water and plumbing. Have you considered building a cabinet to hide the base? For a small home and a pretty clean one a mop exchange might work. But for a bigger home I would say it just smears the dirt from place a to the whole house. That’s why the base is needed. Even the rotary mops are not the best solution. I see the roller mop system better because it cleans the mop while washing the floors. Personally I would totally recommend a full base system even with water and plumbing connections. It gives you total freedom. Hide everything in a closet and leave it do its job.

r/RobotVacuumsWhich robot vacuum is worth the money?

Look into roller mop devices. Also do care about things that are dropped on the floor. I have the Dreame X40, cleaning is overall good but stains are a hit and miss. Candy or other sticky stuff is no go, like 0 chance of proper cleaning. You should be better with a roller mop because it cleans the mop constantly. Obstacle avoidance is critical for things like pens, crayons, toys. Here Dreame is good but not perfect. I had several pencils caught in the inlet. Family with 2 kids 8 and 4 + cat living in rural area. Additional advice, take the time to educate your kid, accidents happen but a jerky attitude sticks forever…

r/RobotVacuumsHow often do you still use your robot vacuum?

Set it and forget it. 1x vac 1xmop&vac daily. And from time to time manual cleans. Daily water emptying and replenishing. 1 year Dreame x40

r/RobotVacuumsRobot vacuum and mop recommendations please

😂😂😂 you need a real robot, not a robot vacuum. Those chairs make it hard for a robot vacuum to pass. My suggestion is to seek for something that can first pass through that narrow space and then a robot that can be easily scheduled to do cleaning. Of course good navigation is a must. I’d first suggest new chairs or cleaning only when you can move the chairs. I have the Dreame X40 and I still move the chairs because it takes ages to clean around 6x4 legs+ table legs. Overall cleaning is good if sidebrush is used to pull dirt from nearby legs.

X40 owner. I have a cat that sheds like crazy. No hair on floors but I do find on couch bed and any other item that is not for the robot. I also have my wife and daughter with long hair. Except the ends of the brush I have no tangles, or close to 0. Or maybe when brush is worn out, har tends to pile up in the cut area. If you have a dog with long fur than having a proper brush is mandatory. Dreame has the tricut brush - seems to be less preferable for tiles due to noise.

Obstacle avoidance is a hit and miss. My x40 will sometimes get over cords, try to eat toys (lego most of the time). For sure it's better to have it than to miss it but there is no clear advantage in real world i think [Robot vacuum and mop comparison – Dreame](https://www.dreametech.com/pages/robot-vacuum-and-mop-comparison)

r/RobotVacuumsAnyone have a robovac they'd recommend for elderly users?

The new Dreame X50 autowash dock has had great praise, with people saying it effectively cleans itself and you will never have to maintain it outside of emptying the tray that catches larger debris. The x50 also can clear the thresholds supposedly. There is also the master version or even the ultra with the pipe hookups, then the only real maintenance will be the dust bag and the cleaning solution bottle. Then a weekly maybe even a monthly maintenance on it will likely suffice. I have a robovac that was released 3 years ago, and has voice commands, alongside scheduling, remote operation through the app, over the internet live video feed and control, voice calling through the robovac itself. Plenty of tools and features to help OP in their situation, and that is a much older model at this point

Dreame x40 master here, it’s been nearly flawless for us after one year

r/Dreame_TechDo you love your plumbed mopping robot setup?

On the x40 the sink basin easily slides out and the detergent draw should remain accessible. So I would design it such that you can easily get to the whole front of the machine. My setup has that front exposed fully, but others have not had a problem leaving a narrow slot for just the robot to travel through

My golden will track a ton of mud during the spring. My Dreame 40 Master does a great job of keeping it under control, but not perfect. I usually just have it mop every night. May add a day shift for just the entrance that will probably get it near flawless.

Not discounting your experience with them, since all companies have issues, but wanted to add my experience to the mix. I bought an X40 master last November, and an L40 ultra just recently and they've been fine. Though, I should note that I installed Valetudo on both of them before even connecting to the internet.

I've got a Dreame X40 specifically because it's supported by Valetudo. (Local only cloud replacement so you can use most of the features of the robot without needing any cloud services.
