"significantly worse object avoidance than than the Dreame x40 and L40 ... The best feature of the L40/X40/p10 pro ultra is that they have class leading object avoidance so you don't have to pick up your cat's toys or prep your house every time you want to run the robot meaning you can run it on a daily schedule which will keep your house cleaner. ... I run my X40s daily and they never get stuck on cables, cat toys and other random junk that ends up on the floor."

"The obstacle avoidance is also very good and I only have the pet in house setting on for pet messes and it recognizes my fake dog poop all the time and drive around it."

"The unit was an upgrade from a Roomba S9. That unit did a good job of vacuuming but was very prone to having problems with obstacles. For example, it would launch itself up onto the circular rod -like bases of several of my chairs and become stuck there. They Roborock 10R correctly recognized all of the bases as something to avoid. Some of them get labeled as chair bases and others simply as wires. It has avoided every obstacle."

"i have had the BlackVue DR970x Plus which proved bulletproof during the hottest Summer on record last year. my credit cards and ID’s all had to be replaced because they melted and warped, but the BlackVue keeps running without issues."

"With three they can just make it to a full week for emptying. ... Life changing."

"And it leaks. Consistently. It sometimes even manages to flood things."

"it seems to be failing on me entirely after only two years of ownership."

"at least half of its fails are because it gets stuck trying to get on its own docking station (which is in an easy to reach and clear spot) to charge. ... I've sat there and watched it back up, go back forward, miss, back up, spin around, miss again. It literally does this until it either manages to get itself stuck on the dock, or just runs its power down."

"I got about 8 months out of a roomba before the thing went feral. ... It would try to get out the backdoor and down the deck stairs. ... After awhile it would just come out of the dock, spin, and go back home."

"crappy software updates, constant errors and resets broke me. ... the software is absolute garbage ... a vacuum is completely useless if it can navigate correctly."

"it's roller would jam horribly with our husky hair to the point that I had to clean out the roller twice a day just to keep up"

"The Neato filled the entire, much larger, bin, the chute partially jammed with hair and the bristle brush was wrapped completely. ... The Neato by far has the best PICKUP - but it was TERRIBLE with tanglement. The Brush would literally be covered in 2-3 days and need to be cleaned.. it would often jam after a week if I didn't clean it out."

"because of the hair issue, I end up getting out my big vacuum and sucking up all the hairs before I send the 'bot out cleaning. ... However, it doesn't have any anti-tangle technology. I don't really see how it would be much better than my Neato."

"the brushes pull up some of the moisture from the mop and then dust will clump up along with pet hair and clog before getting into the bin."

"lost of navigation. ... When come out from the dock station, it somehow lost direction. ... Had to reset it and remap again. ... Almost do it 3 time a weeks. ... lost of connection"

"I spent more time clearing errors than I ever spent vacuuming. ... at least it isn't throwing me errors 3x a day like the roomba!"

"Stop half way while cleaning and didn't Return. ... Had to press return button from phone yourself. ... keep stuck and stop in middle of cleaning."

I’ve got this same one. Honestly, even at $150 it’s still overpriced. I got rid of a “lesser” Roborock and have regretted it ever since. With all the issues this Roomba has, it’s honestly more of a chore just troubleshooting the thing than it is to vacuum yourself.

I bought a Roomba when they first came out 2 decades ago. It did ok, but I bought it more for the novelty, as my 3 story loft was not conducive to robot vacuuming. I have a new place that should be perfect. Wide open spaces, flat floors, few obstructions. Saw $100 rebate for a J6+ at Costco, and bought one. And wow, it is terrible. In 2 weeks, it hasn't completed a single full house cleaning mission. It gets stuck in ridiculous spots that I think my 2 decade old "dumb" Roomba could have avoided. And at least half of its fails are because it gets stuck trying to get on its own docking station (which is in an easy to reach and clear spot) to charge. That should be a no brainer part of its operation. Almost all of the fails seem to be from low quality software. I guess because of brand recognition, I mistakenly thought Roomba was synonymous with quality. Is this a new thing, or has Roomba been a junk brand for awhile now?

I'm boxing mine up tomorrow and returning it too. Good thing for Costco's return policies. I'm just shocked how bad the software is. They've had 20 years to figure out how to get a robot to go into its own charging dock. I've sat there and watched it back up, go back forward, miss, back up, spin around, miss again. It literally does this until it either manages to get itself stuck on the dock, or just runs its power down. I'm just at a loss how Roomba could have become such a low quality product so quickly.

Do not buy this! The charging contact can be faulty and can melt, which is a potential fire hazard, too. This happened to ours in less than 3 months and it's a pretty common issue with reviews. Spend the extra dollar and go with Roborock instead.

With two labs and a cat our J6+ has been a valuable member of the family over the years. An absolute life changer, we love you Alfred, thank you for your service. (Sorry for trapping you in the bathroom)

I've returned roombas to Costco after years of ownership. It's not a TV. And yes my current one does the same shit, after a couple days of failed cleanings i go figure out what's up. It's usually stuff that the vacuum picked up that are too large to be pulled through the connection to the base, or the sensors are dirty. Is it annoying? Fuck yeah. But I don't want to vacuum so I put up with it.

Our German shepherd and American Eskimo leave a lot of hair, and while the robot doesn't get it all, it does a very very good job and makes it a lot easier on you for daily sweeping and whatnot. The hair will get stuck in the mechanical parts often. you basically have to flip it over every after cleaning and pull the hair out of the vacuums brush, you can remove the small wheel and pull the hair out of it. My American Eskimo sheds like no animal I have ever owned or seen anyone own, so it might not be as bad for you. I have this j6 robot and a Tikom robot. The j6 does a better job but the tikom did a fine job and it was super cheap.

My dog is a short hair, but I am myself a long-haired breed and I shed like crazy. I have a roomba J6+ which is not even close to being the newest model so you know they're getting better every generation.

I have the G30 and X8. G30 croaked within a year. They sent me a used replacement which is working fine after almost 4 years of usage. But battery life is whack. X8 sucked big time from the get go. It didn’t do a good job cleaning like the G30. And right after 1 year, the WiFi dropped all of a sudden. And I can’t get it to connect to my network. Tried everything. X8 is a POS! On another note, I tried the Roomba J6+ about 7 months ago. That shit was whack! Returned it after using it for about a week. Thank God for Costco!
