"The roborock I have kicked and smashed with my foot so many times out of anger when it doesn't collaborate, and still he rocks 4-5 yrs later and no broken parts"
"they are extremely durable. ... I’ve got well over 1000 miles out of a pair and they still have grip and the uppers are in great shape"
"I've used them for 1500 miles of multi-day hiking with no issues!"

"Coming from an S7, which vacuums very well, you will be disappointed with the vacuuming performance of any newer robovac from any manufacturer with auto detangling rollers. This includes that Saros 10R. ... I was so unimpressed with the Saros 10R's vacuuming ability after our S8 that I bought a second $350 S8."
"I am always disappointed with the vacuuming ability on carpets. ... I need the vacuuming ability of these two little beasts! ... The S8 that went second almost always has four to five times as much hair and debris in it's dustbin than the test robovac. ... I have never tested a robovac that came back with more debris than my S8s. ... The only robovacs that come anywhere near the performance of our S8s are the S7s and robovacs that are essentially similar in design with solid, single, rubber rollers."
"There is a key difference that really has an impact on vacuuming performance, especially on rugs and carpets. The S8 has dual counter rotating rollers."

"I absolutely do not regret buying the robot vacuum. ... My room is a lot cleaner and dust-free now, and I can tell just by wiping my floor with a wet toilet paper and seeing barely anything picked up. ... I've been getting allergens a ton less, most of which not even in my room. ... All this for the commitment of a weekly emptying is miles more convenient than vacuuming traditionally, as opposed to making a few taps on my phone. ... looking back it was definitely worth the investment."
"My cat has very bad mite allergies, and this vacuum is a must have for us for keeping the floors clean of all dust, dander, and dirt."
"The second floor of my house is all carpeted, and I used to clean with a Dyson V8, but since I got the E28, I haven't vacuumed myself."

"I’ve seen on the camera the poor guy making multiple trips to self empty while in one room but it’s cut the hair buildup tenfold."
"With three they can just make it to a full week for emptying. ... Life changing."
"The roborock cleans the carpet so well I haven't seen or felt any litter anymore."

"splurge for the self emptying because if you have to empty it every time you're less likely to use it. We only have to empty ours like once a month and I have a 14mo and a 3yo who drop crumbs everywhere. ... we have a Shark with a large self emptying bin and that thing is great for the price point."

"The fan that circulates the air is so ridiculous it sounds like an airplane is idling inside my house, and it literally changes the air pressure in my kitchen and hurts my ears"
"I don't even want to be home when my roomba is running."
"Plus they were obnoxiously loud."

"doesnt always recharge reliably ... I've set it on the charger 12 hoursat a time after ensuring a connection andstill won't be charged. ... I think the connectors are overly sensitive"
"recently went into "standby" in the middle of a task before randomly resuming 4 hours later"
"this one errors saying the bin is full, it's not full I just saw and heard it empty out. ... The fix we are using is to force the unit to empty the bin via the app, once that happens it goes oh yeah we're good and starts vacuuming again. ... It turns a 2 hour job into a 6 hour job as we're not sitting here waiting to mash buttons that we shouldn't have to. ... There is nowhere in the app or web portal where you can force a firmware download, I think it's what this unit needs."

"I also have to be careful to pick everything up or it will get stuck after destroying my kids toys."
"Not only does it stop and turn every couple of minutes, but in almost every run through my flat, it missed something. ... sometimes it didn go underneath my table, sometimes it missed a corner, . this was actually the main point why I returned it eventually. ... You need to be able to trust your robot vac to clean everywhere. ... these were not impossible to reach places, and there was no feedback at all why it didn go there."
"The amount of times it got stuck on regular furniture is maddening. ... tries to go under furniture it is clearly too tall for and wedges itself stuck ... randomly ignores “no go” zones i set up in the app such as high pile carpet and gets stuck ... gets stuck pushing against an ottoman for no apparent reason?? ... tries to run over the thin metal horizontal base that connects the legs of the chairs of my bistro set and gets stuck ... The whole point of a robo vac is to be autonomous so having to move or fix it every time it runs is useless."

"or the rollers don’t load up with hair and melt the CHM."
"Good thing I had the spare chassis, because the thing also ate a string and it wrapped around the side of one roller and melted the roller and the holder into one fused piece."
"the roller hasn’t split in half like Roomba’s had a tendency of doing ... Compared to roomba where i’d spend 10 bucks per month on just rollers alone (my wifes hairs would split the middle of them)"

"or the rollers don’t load up with hair and melt the CHM."
"The S9 ended up in pieces."
"I got about 8 months out of a roomba before the thing went feral. ... It would try to get out the backdoor and down the deck stairs. ... After awhile it would just come out of the dock, spin, and go back home."
S9+ Roomba also. In theory any D-shaped bot
D-shaped robots are superior in some regards, but in most they are worse. From navigation to main brush pressure, to side brush placement. It's just very difficult to make it work. It makes sense why the round ones won. That's coming from someone who owned a Neato D5 and a Roomba S9+, on black friday I will finally switch to something more sensible, a Dreame Aqua 10 Roller (maybe the Mova Z60, I will see what deal is better I guess).
I have three shorthair cats and live in an apartment that is mostly medium pile carpet. In my experience vacuums that have rollers with combination rubber and bristles do better at combing pet hair out of carpet fibers than ones with all rubber rollers. A lot of reviewers do pet hair tests by scattering small clumps or individual strands of hair on top of carpet and that's not the whole story in real life. The hairs work their way down into the carpet and it takes aggressive agitation and strong suction to get them out. If carpet performance is paramount, get the Dyson Visnav or if you don't mind used, the Roomba S9+. Older Roombas that bounce around randomly and have the dual rollers with a separate rubber and bristle roller are also great at carpet combing. I keep a 690 around just for that reason even though I also have had newer vac and mop combo robots.
Hello, i have s9+ all that years from release. I readed many post about new robots and how it become better and better, but its really much better? Its worth to change or rather keep s9+ as long as it work?
yeah it works but i never was 100% happy about it, thats why i asked this question. Its really feel like completly new generation or just a little upgrade?
Mine is going strong!
S9+ I bought mine used and no problems in the two years that I have had it. I like the D shape and the features. No problems vacuuming my small area rugs.
Yes, I got mine on Black Friday deal as well for 50% off. I would never have bought it otherwise... a massive upgrade over my older trusty iRobot S9+. Speaking of the obstacle avoidance, that actually might push me to another Saros for upstairs in fhe bedroom areas where my kids rooms are, or I might move the Z70 upstairs since it has the arm and have a 10R on my main floor for mopping and vacuuming.
I bought mine in 2020 and it’s still going. Most of any issues I’ve had with it are usually dust accumulation. Simple cleaning usually takes care of it
yeah minus 1 for iRobot and pet hair...I had an S9+ (released before the model u/DuckyDoodleDandy is talking about to be fair) but while it initially was good it very quickly relegated itself to being a brick in my guest room. It did fine on my hard wood floors to be fair, but on a medium pile rug it basically just pushed my dog hair around (Husky and F1 Goldendoodle) that I got so annoyed with it I just stopped using it entirely. It also tangled hair like a motherfucker and it got bad enough that it broke multiple rollers. A newer roller style like the Narwahl, Roborock would likely work far better and is what I am currently looking for. The navigation was also atrocious since its only camera based at that time and got stuck on EVERYTHING. Similarly, looking for something with lidar to help solve that and allow it to run in low light...my S9+ without full lights on looked like a drunk college kid trying to find their way back to the dorms.
Every time I hear through Google Home that my S9+ has gotten stuck and needs help, it tempts me to buy one of the new lidar models.. Then I remember how horrible my Max 705 Combo performs in hardwoods, and it makes me thankful to still have my S9+ for my carpeted upstairs..
Agree completely. I've had the flagships from all the main brands, but none of them remotely clean carpet as well as the S9+. Been using it regularly for about 6 years without a single issue.
Yes. I pretty much only use my Miele canister for the stairs at this point. Most high end robots vacuum well enough on hard floors. On rugs or carpet the Roomba S9+ or Dyson are in a league of their own relative to other bots. They seem to be the only ones that can really get hair/fur/fuzz off of carpet.
Yes, agree. I'm deeply disappointed and frustrated how things are progressing (regressing) in this regard. They can generally do parallel lines well enough, as long as the "intelligent" modes are turned off. But I find they generally require two passes to clean up what my older robots did in one pass. Glass sliding doors, or patterns in the floor, can cause them to swerve and miss areas. The Ecovacs in particular avoided a whole area on the floor because of a shadow cast by my countertop there. The Narwal made a perfect map of my upstairs, but when I directed it to go to only clean my laundry room, it went to every other room first trying to find a back way in, finally it got to the edge of the laundry room, turned around and again went to every other room, then got to the laundry room a 2nd time, and then finally went in to clean it. This repeated every time. I had a Dreame that would get stuck in some sort of virtual box until I moved it out with my foot. My dining table has a round pedestal base. No robot in the last few years will vacuum tightly around it. They all leave about a 1" gap, which is exactly where the crumbs tend to collect. I still keep my Roomba J9+ in service to go clean up after the others once a week. Another thing that foils modern robots is cleaning close around chair legs. I do a test, sprinkling some oatmeal around a chair leg. Modern robots will get about 50%-75% of it, but my old Roombas would consistently get all of it. It may be an unpopular opinion, but the best navigation, edge/corner cleaning, and overall coverage I've ever seen was from my Roomba S9.
