Brandi_yyc 1.0I have 4 dogs and have a J9+ vacuum only version and am extremely happy with it. Just keep up on maintenance and cleaning it and it will do a great job.
I have 4 dogs so feel your pain, also 3 Women in our house so hair is a problem. I don't have the eufy S1 yet, but I think the Eufy X10 Pro is great but it doesn't get much love here. Also the Roomba J9+ vacuum only robot is fantastic.
You can never have too many dogs 😉 Your advice is solid though. My J9+ vacuum only keeps our home clean with our dogs. 🐶
Hiya, we have Bernese mountain dogs, a Westie and just lost our Corgie recently 😔 Our house knows a thing or two about dog hair. Our J9+ Vacuum only device is amazing at keeping our floors and air clean. It runs daily, sometimes the master bedroom needs twice because all it takes is one Bernese wrestling match to leave hair everywhere 😂. My settings are 2 passes and high suction. Maintenance is key, especially with pets! I remove hair from rollers daily, and each weekend I do a more thorough cleaning like blowing out the filter with an electric air blower, removing the front wheel and clearing the hair, removing the plastic caps from the end of the rollers to clean the hair from there, wiping down the charging contacts, which takes less than 5 mins. This will keep your device, and you, happy 🙂
I have dogs so vacuum daily. My J9+ vacuum only does a great job with my hardwood/tile flooring, plus the two carpeted bedrooms. I just make sure to clean the rollers after each run and then do a 5 minute deep clean on the weekends where I blow out the filter outside and clean the hair from the end caps of the rollers and the front wheel. There are a bunch of new models since this version so others might have good advice on those.
roombadude 1.0I can’t blame you. When the Max 10 or Combo j9+ work as they should,…….they are really great products. I run two Combo j9’s and a plain j9+……in a 1700 square foot rancher. I’m OCD. Love em. Love em.

The combo has a mop, but you can buy the non combo version that is just a vacuum.
CleaningBotAddict 0.2I think the Roomba J9+ is the best fit for this scenario. Object avoidance is on par with the best of them, although none are perfect. Note that object avoidance is meant to avoid things that can get robot jammed up or make a worse mess, like cords or pet waste. Larger objects, like bags and chair legs, it will bump into but do no harm.
I believe the J-series all have the same object avoidance, but don't get confused with the "Combo" versions. Those have mops and are much more expensive. The J9+ (non-combo) is currently the only J sold that is vacuum-only. It's currently $500 US, which really isn't that much more than what you can get a used J7+ for, but you'd miss the 2x suction power, the 2x battery life, and the warranty.
I don't know about the new lineup, but nothing beats a Roomba 9-series on carpet, though. Even on hard floors, my Saros 10 misses a lot of spots that my J9 never did.
Yes, agree. I'm deeply disappointed and frustrated how things are progressing (regressing) in this regard. They can generally do parallel lines well enough, as long as the "intelligent" modes are turned off. But I find they generally require two passes to clean up what my older robots did in one pass. Glass sliding doors, or patterns in the floor, can cause them to swerve and miss areas. The Ecovacs in particular avoided a whole area on the floor because of a shadow cast by my countertop there. The Narwal made a perfect map of my upstairs, but when I directed it to go to only clean my laundry room, it went to every other room first trying to find a back way in, finally it got to the edge of the laundry room, turned around and again went to every other room, then got to the laundry room a 2nd time, and then finally went in to clean it. This repeated every time. I had a Dreame that would get stuck in some sort of virtual box until I moved it out with my foot. My dining table has a round pedestal base. No robot in the last few years will vacuum tightly around it. They all leave about a 1" gap, which is exactly where the crumbs tend to collect. I still keep my Roomba J9+ in service to go clean up after the others once a week. Another thing that foils modern robots is cleaning close around chair legs. I do a test, sprinkling some oatmeal around a chair leg. Modern robots will get about 50%-75% of it, but my old Roombas would consistently get all of it. It may be an unpopular opinion, but the best navigation, edge/corner cleaning, and overall coverage I've ever seen was from my Roomba S9.

Technically the Roomba j9+ I have avoids items in the ground but still I prefer to clean up the floor before it goes off to vacuum and mop. I do still need to mop weekly or so for a good cleanup but definitely vacuum is done.
I’m thinking of getting the 707 next month (if it stays at 899) have the j9+ and not happy with the mopping . How do you like the roller versus the circular ones on the others?
Costco has it and I’ve been thinking about it as my j9 doesn’t do a great job mopping

Dry-Unit-9323 0.2I have the Roomba j9+ and the Braava since before combo robots became mainstream when it was the only real mopping option. Then it stopped working so well (for what it could do). So needed a new combo option for the mopping even though j9+ is suitable for what it does. Had planned on getting rid of it knowing wouldn’t get that much for it really. Then decided to keep it as upstairs only robot where not much mopping to do and I do that myself, rather than dragging combo robot and base upstairs.
Due-Stuff-4394 0.2The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is a beast insane suction, rubber brushes that don’t tangle with fur, and it mops too (if you’re into that). For a cheaper but still effective option, the Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid gets the job done with dual brushes and strong suction. If you’ve got a heavy shedder, the iRobot Roomba j9+ is pricey but worth itself-emptying, avoids pet messes like a pro, and handles carpets like a champ. Avoid anything with bristle rollers
