"Both have a roller brush that does not clog. Over a year later and no hair tangles. ... No. They use a circular pattern of airflow. That pulls the hair to the side of the roller brush that is not mounted. The X Ultra has been in use for over a year now and has yet to have a clog."

"I've never once had the roller clog with hair. ... It's got a tapered roller and apparently this is successful in keeping hair from getting tangled."

"Narwals are great and their antitag brush is amazing for dog hair."

"And the quietness is a bonus."

"Of my robots, the Narwal maintains the cleanest base station and mop pads. ... That's their trademark (because using lots of water to wash works!) and I suspect the Flow will continue that trend."

"the Narwal will have the best smart cleaning mode and mopping ... Z50 is going to be a much better mopping robot than the ecovacs and eufy robots with a roller mop"

"Een van betere dweil apparaat vergeleken met andere merken."

"The time saved alone from not sweeping daily is huge for me, totally worth it."

"the narwal can sense if the area isnt clean yet and go back and clean it ... if it goes back to finish and leaves a cleaner surface than a single pass during a typical mop session from a different vac, the end result is the narwal will leave the area cleaner."

"I do about ten minutes of maintenance a month, that the app tells me to do, like emptying the bin or replacing the pads."

"Its a mostly fine robot but not a fan of their mapping software. ... The basic and simple and frustrating issues with the Narwal software have been there now for well over a year. ... Issues like mapping open concept spaces and having easy to use and manipulate split and merge lines have been solved years ago by other companies like Roborock and by Dreame. ... There is no excuse that Narwal - who has most definately been made aware of these issues long ago - has either chosen to ignore fixing 'merge/split' options (and more) or the current team is incapable of doing so. ... As a homeowner with a large open concept layout their mapping software is crap and pretty much renders using their robot useless unless I want to compromise how I use a Narwal. ... Something that is not an issue with Roborock or Dreame or Mova (and probably others also). ... So if a home has basically traditiona wall spaces.Sure. Narwal is great. If the layout is open concept. Then....Narwal no."

"I have had some issues with the vac and hard to do a warranty repair"

"Narwal needs to fire their UI people and redesign their app from the ground up."

"I don't trust it 100% not to suck up a hairball or vomit. That's asking for trouble."

"While I had it, it would ram full force into things in a way that was almost comical."

"It also occasionally tangles itself in stuff like string on the ground"

r/RobotVacuumsBest robot vacuum + mop for dog, toddler, rugs & hardwood (~1500 sq ft)?

I just bought the narwhal freo x ultra on sale at Costco. I watched the review on vacuum wars and I think it’s exactly what we need. I’m not worried about obstacle avoidance (I always pick everything up before I send our current robot out) and I’m excited that it’s a high rated mop (2 boys under 5). The only disappointment is that I have to empty the vacuum canister manually, but for the price I’m not that upset!

They are cheaper. It used to be 2k, but the older versions are like under 400, for the versions that were 2k before. Look especially around black Friday. I have the narwal freo x ultra, used to have the original narwal freo The dreame L10S ultra was coming out at the same time as that, and now that's under 300. Idk how reliable it is a I never got it and decided not to after some research and clogging. I went and stayed with the narwal freo and got the automatic water exchange system so I don't have to empty or fill the water again. The original lasted years, and the new one is running even better than that one. You'll have to look at features and pricing. Don't get the best and newest version if price is an issue. The older versions used to be top of the line and those work really well still. Do research and look at the prices and see if they're what you're willing to spend.

I just bought this in Costco too. I actually think the obstacle avoidance on this is incredible. And the canister empties on its own once it senses that it’s very full. You can even have it empty itself on the app if you like. I would rather empty it manually to avoid filling up the dust bag too fast.

We have a Narwal Freo X Ultra and absolutely love it. It’s been the best robot we have ever owned and we have owned quite a few brands in the past 10 years.

r/RobotVacuumsThe Absolute Best Robot Vacuum and Mop?

i know you're asking people to do the research for you rather than doing any research yourself but you need to at least consider whether you want a mop with spinny pads or rollers as they both have pros and cons. Spinny pads is older tech, it's a pair of spinning pads that wipe the surface of the floor. Not great for any substantial wet mess on the floor because it'll smear it everywhere but some models will do several trips back to the dock and clean their pads to clean up the mess. Rollers have a roller inside that picks up messes and captures the debris in a separate tank inside the robot. Fresh water is constantly sprayed down onto the rollers and the dirty water scraped off, same style as full size mops like tineco. It's newer tech in robot mops and is still getting the bugs worked out, lots of people are reporting their robots leaving drops or lines of water all over the floor. I opted for the older tech, i have a narwal freo x ultra. spinning pads will probably never clean the floor to the same level as a roller but i just don't really ever get bulky wet messes on the floor, and if i did i would just quickly pick it up with my hands and some paper towel. my main messes are drips of food while i'm cooking which then dries on the floor and spinning pads do just fine with that kind of mess. Trading off older tech for not having to clean an extra cannister inside the robot was fine with me. You may make a different choice. edit: oh and as for obstacle avoidance. older models tend to use lidar while newer models have cameras and use AI to detect obstacles. cameras are obviously better but cameras are also obviously more of a potential privacy issue. make your choice based on whether you prioritise privacy or better performance avoiding obstacles. For me, there's zero shot i'd ever put a moving camera inside my house.

r/RobotVacuumsWhat is the best vacuum robot?

As someone who's spent the past 2 days reading and watching basically nothing except robot vacmop reviews, I can't understand how you can expect one single model to be "the best" for every person on the face of this earth? There is no one model that does everything brilliantly, and part of me feels like that's a deliberate design choice which annoys me no end. They saturate the market with machines with subtle differences between them. They'll put a desirable feature in one model but not in the other, but that other model will also have a feature you need that the first doesn't have, making you choose from two features you actually need. IMPO they do it on purpose to increase their market share. There's no one model that has it ALL. After all the hours I've spent looking at this crap, I've settled on an old model that doesn't even have a camera for better obstacle detection, nor does it have self-emptying vacuum features, nor a roller for the best mopping. It is by most accounts, a sub-par model with outdated tech. .... and yet it seems to be the best for my use case. It's an old, blind, spinny-mop narwal freo x ultra and I'm hoping to go buy it tomorrow unless someone tells me about a dealbreaker it has. How you are expecting someone to say one is "the best" I have no idea. What features would validate one particular model as being the best?

r/BuyItForLifeMy vacuum died... What's the actual best budget robot vacuum under $300 right now? (US)

I have a Narwal Freo X Ultra that works pretty well and with minimal human intervention. I got it from Costco for about $700. I have used the cheaper ones in the past and they are garbage, constantly getting stuck. I had one get stuck in the square of my rug pattern… the cheap ones are cheap for a reason… get a decent upright vac instead

I have a Narwal and it's really not that bad noise wise. I had a Switchbot before that was quite noisy.

I have a Narwal Freo X Ultra. It navigates pretty well with lidar and lazers and doesn't have the privacy concerns of a camera. The roller is attached on a single side and never gets clogged with hair or fur, and there are several animals living in the house. The mopping is really nice. It doesn't empty dust into its base. I feel like Narwal does a better job of engineering solutions into the robot than other companies, but I'll note that they are upgraded and changed so quickly maybe someone else is putting out something better. The maintenance is pretty easy, fill and empty the clean and dirty water respectively every week or so, empty the dust every couple of weeks. There's a bit more maintenance beyond that, but none of it is too bad. I've really been blown away with it. I previously had a vacuum only robot that navigated with just lidar, and it would get stuck on things constantly (I am not the absolute best at keeping the floors robot ready with the pets).

Have the Narwal Freo X Ultra. Really like the actual robot, does a really great job cleaning but ive not been impressed by their user support. Sent a suggestion to them about adding an "empty bin" mode (it autofills/emptys the mopping water, but doesn't have auto empty for the vacuum bin) where you could set the location of your trash bin and the robot would just go there and wait until you emptied it and sent it back home. They replied with "You should buy our Freo Z Ultra that has auto bin emptying"...
