"A good robovac is a life changer. Even a $350 basic S8. It is a great place to start. ... I promise you that you will not be disappointed by a basic S8. It will change your life even if it can't fit under every piece of furniture you own. ... My two S8s just finished vacuuming our entire house in about 46 minutes. ... While my floors were being cleaned, I sat comfortably on our patio in the cool shade with a slight breeze and composed my far too long response to you while sipping a diet soda and relaxing. ... I will have to spend about four minutes maintaining my two S8s. This will be my entire contribution to my home floor cleaning effort for today. Four minutes!"

"Like 500$ these robots are currently the steal of the century ... You can get a mova p10 pro ultra (cannot remove its mops), equivalent to the l40/x40 for 500$ after a discount code"

"For an open style earbud, these genuinely surprised me with their overall performance in sound at this price point. ... IMHO, these Soundpeats PearlClip Pro are probably the best I’ve heard in this under $50 price category when it comes to this style of earbuds. ... These are one of the best clip-on earbuds in this price category especially when it comes to price to performance in sound quality and feature set"

"This was a game changer for me. Each night before I ran the S7, I had to manually move and rearrange items on the floor so it didn’t get stuck. With a kid and a dog, it’s easy to have toys under the rug, spoons in random places on the floor etc. My S7 would always get stuck on those and fire away an SOS in the app and I’d have to get outta bed and reset the robot clean cycle. The Slim has made me truly appreciate the *set it and forget it* style I prefer. Yes, I still do move/check for randoms but it doesn’t get stuck up on the stuff I’d miss. 3/4 score in my ultra scientific yet real world test! It even manages to dodge when my dog is sitting on the rug and shows a ‘Pet’ notification in the app! ... Wires - not a problem! ... It did manage to 'touch' the flip flops but didnt mess up ... Nudged the ball but didn't get stuck on it like my S7 did"

"cleaned it just as quickly. ... It navigates far more efficiently and cleans rooms in a fraction of the time it took my Roomba."

"They're awesome- LiDAR room mapping ... Um roomba doesn't use Lidar which is why it doesn't do a good job mapping the rooms. Or figuring out what floor it's on."

"The AceClean dryboard (its mop pad cleaning tray) on these models is currently the best self cleaning mop tray that can clean its mops as the only maintenance required is to occasionally clean a removable palm-sized drainage filter and wipe down the flat dryboard (no nooks and crannies for dirt to hide)."

"I would WAY rather take the vacuum back to the dock once every few weeks than vacuum all the time. ... I am more than happy to pay $150/year to eliminate 99% of my vacuuming. I would happily pay double that."

"the new dreame robots (L40S ultra, L40S pro Ultra, and the X50 Ultra) in Australia cleans its own filter when it autoempties."

"With three they can just make it to a full week for emptying. ... Life changing."

"splurge for the self emptying because if you have to empty it every time you're less likely to use it. We only have to empty ours like once a month and I have a 14mo and a 3yo who drop crumbs everywhere. ... we have a Shark with a large self emptying bin and that thing is great for the price point."

"It gives up quickly and does not map well. ... For example, first time out, it was unable to leave the kitchen. ... So it mapped the kitchen and a space outside the kitchen that it could see was called a room. But it was only able to see 30% of the actual room. ... It did not update the map as the dreame would each run. ... Sent out for a remap. Got the center room and failed to get the hallway that did not have a threshold to cross, got 20% of another room it could't get in and didn't place a wall where there was a wall."

"my Qrevo Edge was not able to avoid some cables or other things like small pet toys my puppy would bring out at times. ... Once it even ran over a little log (of shit) my puppy left out for it which caused me to have to open it up and clean it out."

The amount of hair my roborock Q5 Pro+ Robot Vacuum picks up has completely taken over all our vaccuming minus stairs. 100% would recommend with the auto empty dock. The app is easy to use and setup rooms, the dual brush design also makes it super simple to clean.

These models should be under 500 in the US, please share your purchasing region (usually country). The Q5 Pro Plus is a good choice.

The roborock Q5 Pro+ is a popular model that seems to last rather long with proper care. The dual rubber brushes do best to pick up fur and hair, especially on carpets, and will best resist tangles.

Maybe a refurbished roomba for carpets but navigation is an option. A roborock would be better at navigation. The Q5 Pro with no autoempty station would be better at not disturbing people if it will autoempty during working hours but the Q8 Max+ or the Q5 Max+ can be considered if you’d like one with an autoempty station.

What’s your purchasing region? Perhaps the Roborock Q5 duoroller model with no self empty station or the Eufy L60 would be a good choice.

If I were you, I’d spend a bit more for a combo and look for a reliable and good vacuum only model for the top carpet only floor which is generally cheaper than a combo model. I’d also consider the dreame L40S Pro Ultra (£799) is going to be better for heavy fur shedders since it has the onboard fur compression feature which works when it’s vacuuming to best utilize the dustbin’s space that has a volume of 395mL. The dual brushes mean it’s better for fur pickup on carpets but won’t be as good for just vacuuming carpets compared to vacuum only models . The E25 will be better for raw mopping performance which is better suited for homes with more hard floors than carpet. The E25 will also be a good option for the bottom floor. I’d get something like a cheap second hand roomba or a roborock Q5 or Q8 with or without an autoempty station for the upper floor.

Vacuum only: roborock q5 or q8 max+ or the switchbot k10+ with a tangle resistant all rubber brush. Vacuum and mop combo: MOVA P10 Pro ultra at 399 (I think on Amazon US). This is a de facto last gen flagship and the antitangle TriCut brush (may ship in a bundle or needs to be bought separately from MOVA/dreame but AliExpress resellers can be cheaper) worked great with my long fur corgi’s fur and tumbleweeds. This one is least likely to get stuck compared to the previous options. Compared to other vacuum and mop combos under 400 which are solid budget robots, the p10 pro ultra blows them out of the water. As for the curved legs, I think the MOVA may at first try to ride up them then eventually learn how to properly avoid them. I have the MOVA V50 ultra and after it humped tripod legs on the first day, it was able to “learn” how to smoothly follow the tripod legs and avoid riding up on them on the third day (second day produced mixed results).

That’s fair! My home simply is fur mayhem so I love the autoemptying. Check out the roborock q5 or q8 without an autoempty dock.

My understanding is they are the exact same for carpets and dog hair. The Q5 is a bit cheaper with a bigger dustbin and no mopping. Q8 has the mopping. Where do you see the sale on Wayfair at?

r/RoborockWhat's Roborock's best vacuum-only model for long-term use?

Roborock S5 was such a low complexity model, going strong for many years. Now with more recent models, vacuum-only limits the search to Q5, Q7, Q8. Most of these claim to be "vac + mop combo" but that's just a passive cloth dragged behind. Not really worth discussing. They all have very good mapping and navigation in common. Roborock is famous for that and even the cheapest model does the job well. So depending on what you want, what you actually need, you might be perfectly satisfied with a Q7 M5+ or Q8 Pro+. One thing to note, Spending more money on a Roborock doesn't automatically mean the robot would be built with higher quality and last longer. It has just more features then. More motors, more moving parts, more wear and tear. Second note, Prices do not necessarily reflect the value. Roborock has some strange pricing strategy that no-one understands. For example, Q5 Pro+ is currently at $600 which is insanely expensive and cannot be recommended right now. I guess there's some tariff glitch included whatever.

r/RoborockFirst Robot Vacuum: Is a Q5 worth it?

Q5 is NOT an everyday mopper. The mop is completely passive, does no scrubbing, and you have to wash and mount/unmount it yourself all the time. I.e. cannot go over carpet while mop is attached. Really serious active mopping starts with Qrevo, which comes with a full automated washing dock and water management. Even much better than the standard S7+ was. You can make a good deal on this during Prime sales.

You are right. I didn't expect the Q5 still being available anywhere so I had Pro in mind.

r/RoborockFirst Robot Vacuum: Is a Q5 worth it?

Q5 / Q7 / Q8 aren't real combos. They have a mop add-on for occasional use. That's cheap, has no motors and consists of a plastic plate with a cloth. Worth $20 maybe, added manufacturing cost somewhat <$5. So almost all models have these add-ons so they can be sold as "combo". Real mopping starts with scrubbing robots like S8, Q10 S5 or Qrevo.

Forget the Pa numbers regarding the "as powerful as" comparisons. They are totally misleading regarding vacuuming performance. Q5 and Q8 series have DualRoller brushes, they are legendary for vacuuming performance. Vacuuming effect is 80% brushing, 20% sucking.

r/RoborockAnyone else wish there were high-end non-mop options?

Best one to fit your needs was Q8 Max+. DualRoller, obstacle avoidance (although not the best one), decent dustbin size. Sadly Roborock ditched the Q5 and Q8 for no better replacements. Q7 M5+ is a downgrade in every aspect. Brush roller, battery size, dustbin size...

If you go ahead with the replacement, here are three options -- two that are common recommendations, and one that's new as of this year, but may be worth a look. If you're wanting to change brands, look at the Roborock Q5 series. The Max+ has no mop, while the Pro+ has a mop. I only mention the Pro+ because a few of the sales seem to have the Pro+ cheaper than the Max+, and the only difference is the presence of the mop, so check which one is cheaper. Both have a dual-roller brush, which is reported to do better with hair tangles. If Eufy is still on your list, there are two interesting options. The L60 SES/Hybrid is a pretty good option. The Hybrid has a mop; same story as the Roborock. It has a blade in the base station that cuts hair tangles off the roller. If you're willing to take a little risk, Eufy just released the E20. It's a bit pricey, but is essentially a vacuum unit that can be used as a vacuum-only robot, a handheld cordless vac, or a cordless stick vac. You can switch back and forth pretty much at will. It's risky because it's new, and pretty much all the reviews available are sponsored, so of course the E20 is revolutionary and game-changing. :-) Independent reviews and real user reports are starting to come out, but it's still pretty slim pickings. Of your requested features, the one you might have to compromise on is the obstacle avoidance. For whatever reason, the manufacturers don't put the best obstacle avoidance on vacuum-only robots. All of the above have some level of obstacle avoidance, but your current X10 is going to be better than pretty much all of them (with the possible exception of the E20).

r/RobotVacuumsIs the Roborock Q5 MAx+ still the best mop-less robot vac?

Sort of. There's also the Eufy L50 and L60 models, which are almost the same except for less suction and a lower price for the L50. Also look at the new Roomba 105 and 705, many Shark models, and the Dyson 360 Vis Nav. As always, check reviews; the Roombas in particular haven't reviewed well. What's more common is a vacuum-only robot with a stationary mop pad that's just stuck on the bottom. Technically, it's a combo with mopping, but the mop is just an add-on, and can be ignored. An example of this is the Roborock Q5 Pro and Pro+, which is the Q5 Max and Max+ with a mop tacked on and a few cosmetic changes. Sometimes, the Pro is even cheaper than the Max, which makes the Pro the smart buy. Just throw the mop plate in a drawer or in the trash. Be careful, though, that you're not sacrificing dustbin space for the water tank. The very similar Roborock Q7 M5 does this, while the Pro has the water tank as part of the mop plate. The most notable model that technically supports mopping, but only as an add-on, is the SwitchBot K10+. It comes with little disposable mopping cloths that attach to hooks on the back of the robot. Ignore the cloths, and you have a very good small robot that can get into lots of tight spaces and which has been reviewed to vacuum well.

I'll add to the vote for the Roborock Q5 Max, but there are other alternatives: many Shark robots, plus the Eufy L50, L60, C10, and E20 models. A few models put the water tank into the mop plate, and thus do not sacrifice any dustbin space for water storage. An example would be the Roborock Q5 Pro, which is basically the Q5 Max with some cosmetic changes and a mop pad. I've seen the Pro cheaper than the Max, which means you're paying more money just for the privilege of not getting a mop; ditto for the L60 SES vs. Hybrid. So that's something to consider.

Q5 Pro+ (or Q5 Max might be equivalent for you). The Q-series is fantastic for vacuuming. Ignore any Q-series mops since they're worthless. The Q5 one is, from what I can tell, the last Q-series without a full camera or mic for Roborock to spy on you with.

I recently went from a s5 Max to a q5 pro+ and im super happy. It gets alot more from the corners and general dust/debree. The old struggled to pick up the small litterbox grains that the cats drag out with them, no problem for the q5 pro+. Its relatively reasonable priced in my country atleast. You can get the same model without the dust collector station for cheaper aswell.

For a first robot vacuum under $500 that’s strong on pet hair, compact, and easy to maintain, I’d consider the [Roborock Q5 Pro](https://www.amazon.com/roborock-Q5-Pro-Self-Emptying-Hands-Free/dp/B0C7VN9NWK?crid=26W8YI94Q4OZK&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.CXgchYqIJ4FYSTC49eMOlCuRIaDRZvYbxcAF8H7gC4gMiQDqr2Y9zwh99PiYyDjg4DIOjGuOjWMG_HzvjnJKVBv0iuKixHgiJ3M6ITWTOLz2WR1m37yiYPq7baZFtvoBK4b_PXcULjGLzZy5JWnyku5ikK9Wsb-MQK9EYa0Gx8khMh3hlU-6fhzvM-l_tnHYYO51jwcMgxyipcCpbcnLqbPAQ8pSZqQVXFUYUuNlCOA.b0yLZIIU6zhiO6mfEpRKxgftYzWAx4NQXgdnGhryhqs&dib_tag=se&keywords=Roborock%2BQ5%2BPro&qid=1761754112&sprefix=roborock%2Bq5%2Bpro%2Caps%2C212&sr=8-3&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=drxth-20&linkId=42a57cf33084a4e87781b966f25cfc81&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl). It has powerful suction that handles pet hair well, a slim design to navigate under furniture, and a dustbin and filter that are simple to remove and clean, making it a low-maintenance option for keeping your floors consistently clean.

It's the same product, only the pro has the mop feature (which is useless anyway), so if you don't need the mop and the products are the same price, you can keep your q5 pro+ and just use it as a vacuum.
