"I absolutely do not regret buying the robot vacuum. ... My room is a lot cleaner and dust-free now, and I can tell just by wiping my floor with a wet toilet paper and seeing barely anything picked up. ... I've been getting allergens a ton less, most of which not even in my room. ... All this for the commitment of a weekly emptying is miles more convenient than vacuuming traditionally, as opposed to making a few taps on my phone. ... looking back it was definitely worth the investment."
"My cat has very bad mite allergies, and this vacuum is a must have for us for keeping the floors clean of all dust, dander, and dirt."
"The second floor of my house is all carpeted, and I used to clean with a Dyson V8, but since I got the E28, I haven't vacuumed myself."

"I’ve seen on the camera the poor guy making multiple trips to self empty while in one room but it’s cut the hair buildup tenfold."
"With three they can just make it to a full week for emptying. ... Life changing."
"The roborock cleans the carpet so well I haven't seen or felt any litter anymore."

"splurge for the self emptying because if you have to empty it every time you're less likely to use it. We only have to empty ours like once a month and I have a 14mo and a 3yo who drop crumbs everywhere. ... we have a Shark with a large self emptying bin and that thing is great for the price point."

"it has obstacle avoidance ... I was susprised how good it is even compared to much more expensive S8."
"watching it move right up to furniture but not quite touch it"
"Roborock has the best navigation software of any robot vacuum in my experience (we've also had Eufy and a Roomba)."

"Love their app too, very simple and intuitive ... great app on the phone ... Rove app much more seamless and intuitive."
"Last month got rear ended by person on the phone. ... I downloaded the event clip from the mobile app and was able to show the video to the police on the spot. ... The other driver got a ticket for using the phone."
"and the app works well. ... No, it’s free to use. ... The app just allows you to view and share the video from your phone."

"The object avoidance is pretty horrendous."

I love my roborock. Its a q8 max, had it 6 months with a golden retriever and 2 cats and has been working really good. I've never had less hair in my house. Its my first robot vacuum tho so not much to compare it to. I chose roborock both because it was on sale and people online said the mapping is really easy (which it seems to be).
I just got a roborock q8 and it's awesome. I'm in Canada. Pretty simple to set up too.
I’d argue there’s no such thing as buy it for life vacuum robot because it’s tech. However, we did recently get a Roborock Q8 Max to replace our Neato Botvac D3 and have been very happy so far. It’s well within your budget and has been great for our 1 dog 1 cat household.
We have one from Roborock Q8 max and it's the best I've ever had (for vacuuming). It recognizes obstacles very well (toys from my dog and kids) and it avoids them. Would recommend it dearly!
I've got a Roborock Q8 max that I picked up for around $200 last year and I really like how well it deals with my cat's fur. However, it sucks for mopping (basically just a Swiffer wet jet). I'm thinking about picking up one of the ones with spinning mops (probably the CurvX) on a Black Friday deal.
I have the cheaper Q10 S5 and Q8 Max models and both are very good.
Yeah I have them options available, but I can't be bothered most of the time as I know it will either get it later or I just send it round again (at most it takes 10 mins for the largest room). I have a Roborock q10 S5 and Q8 Max. My house has never been so well vacuumed :)
Mine doesnt do that. But higher end models do. If you have a larger house or lots of hard floor it's probably worth looking at models like that. Mine are the basic mop pad that rises up on carpet. I have the Roborock Q10 S5 and older Q8 Max. Vacuum wars YouTube channel will be able to help if you are looking for a robo vac.
I have 3 vacuums I got 2nd hand or cheaper from eBay. I have x2 Roborock Q8 Max and 1 Roborock Q10 S5 (newer model). I highly recommend getting one with a dock, as I have to empty the bins quite a bit. Whereas the one with a dock I just check it occasionally. You can normally get the Q10 S5 on offer at Amazon fairly regularly. Generally what I find is that if you run them at least daily (im in a family house), they keep the dust and dirt down and my carpet and floors look freshly cleaned every day. My cat flicks litter out the tray, so I normally do an early morning run to get that up just before I get up.
I can tell so many people in this comment section have no idea about robot vacuums and get their views from Roomba's that are years old now. I have 3 cheaper models I got 2nd hand, and they are probably the best purchase I have ever got. My floors have never been so clean before. Even the basic mopping surprised me how good it is, and mine are just microfiber clothes that just vibrate. The worst thing about them is I have to change the cloths and empty the dust bins (I recommend a full dock if you can). Plus, it will suck up a sock on occasion. The kitchen gets bits, juice, mud on the floor all the time as I have kids and a messy house and even my cheaper models do really well, saved me so much time.
I just purchased a Roborock vacuum a cpl months ago, and it is an amazing piece of equipment. Not only does it vacuum, but it also has a water tank attachment and mop pad to mop floors. Haven't used the mop yet though, but the vacuum works very very well.
Love my Q8 Max. Works great with HA. Only complaint is that I have to sporadically (read: every few months) reload the integration to reauth.
For just vacuuming, the Q8 Max will be better. For a combo robot, I’d choose the Xiaomi x20+. Please run your x20+ on the vacuuming first before mopping mode to protect the vacuum fan motor~
The roborock q8 will be a better choice for hair and navigation.
If I were you, I’d spend a bit more for a combo and look for a reliable and good vacuum only model for the top carpet only floor which is generally cheaper than a combo model. I’d also consider the dreame L40S Pro Ultra (£799) is going to be better for heavy fur shedders since it has the onboard fur compression feature which works when it’s vacuuming to best utilize the dustbin’s space that has a volume of 395mL. The dual brushes mean it’s better for fur pickup on carpets but won’t be as good for just vacuuming carpets compared to vacuum only models . The E25 will be better for raw mopping performance which is better suited for homes with more hard floors than carpet. The E25 will also be a good option for the bottom floor. I’d get something like a cheap second hand roomba or a roborock Q5 or Q8 with or without an autoempty station for the upper floor.
That’s fair! My home simply is fur mayhem so I love the autoemptying. Check out the roborock q5 or q8 without an autoempty dock.
It’s 379 on their website. I do still see the q8 max at 179 so I’d go for the q8 max if an autoempty base station isn’t needed.
What’s your purchasing region? Perhaps the Roborock Q5 duoroller model with no self empty station or the Eufy L60 would be a good choice.
My understanding is they are the exact same for carpets and dog hair. The Q5 is a bit cheaper with a bigger dustbin and no mopping. Q8 has the mopping. Where do you see the sale on Wayfair at?
Q8 Max wasn't really made for mopping. Since it cannot lift the passive mop, you have to detach the mop everytime you want vacuuming. Make the no mop zones a little wider, even when risking a small strip remaining not mopped. Serious multi-mode cleaning with active mop and lift for combined hard floor / carpet rooms starts with S8 or Q10 S5.
Then also consider Q8 Max. This is mechanically almost the same as Q5 Pro/Max, but has additional obstacle avoidance sensor. There's also a very new model "Q7 M5", which has the strongest suction of all baseline vacuum-only robots.
Q5 / Q7 / Q8 aren't real combos. They have a mop add-on for occasional use. That's cheap, has no motors and consists of a plastic plate with a cloth. Worth $20 maybe, added manufacturing cost somewhat <$5. So almost all models have these add-ons so they can be sold as "combo". Real mopping starts with scrubbing robots like S8, Q10 S5 or Qrevo.
Q8 Pro would be a suitable replacement, comes with DuoRoller brushes and optical obstacle avoidance. It bumps much less on furniture and obstacles. US price $200. Great vacuum. If you would like to upgrade towards a "+" model with auto empty dock (I recommend it), consider Q7 M5+ for US $250. Q8 Max was a little older and the + variant is already discontinued. What a bummer. All Q7 models are however single rollers without the obstacle avoidance. Much more like the legendary S4.
Forget the Pa numbers regarding the "as powerful as" comparisons. They are totally misleading regarding vacuuming performance. Q5 and Q8 series have DualRoller brushes, they are legendary for vacuuming performance. Vacuuming effect is 80% brushing, 20% sucking.
Q8 is like Q5 but with obstacle avoidance sensor. Vacuuming is the same.
