"I regret not buying a robot with true mopping (I use Roborock Q8 with fake mopping). ... Yes 😂 I bought more mop attachments to see if that helps"

"It has a mop attachment but it’s not a roller or spin and I feel like it’s just wiping dirt all over the floor after the first room."

I love my roborock. Its a q8 max, had it 6 months with a golden retriever and 2 cats and has been working really good. I've never had less hair in my house. Its my first robot vacuum tho so not much to compare it to. I chose roborock both because it was on sale and people online said the mapping is really easy (which it seems to be).

I just got a roborock q8 and it's awesome. I'm in Canada. Pretty simple to set up too.

I’d argue there’s no such thing as buy it for life vacuum robot because it’s tech. However, we did recently get a Roborock Q8 Max to replace our Neato Botvac D3 and have been very happy so far. It’s well within your budget and has been great for our 1 dog 1 cat household.

We have one from Roborock Q8 max and it's the best I've ever had (for vacuuming). It recognizes obstacles very well (toys from my dog and kids) and it avoids them. Would recommend it dearly!

sounds like the [Roborock Q8 Max](https://www.reddit.com/r/VacuumsTips/comments/1qweaz2/top_robot_vacuums_that_work_well_without_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (non auto-empty) would fit what you want. LiDAR mapping fixes the whole “crash into everything and miss rooms” problem, it’s solid on carpet and long hair, and the dock is low enough to hide under a cabinet. You just have to empty the bin yourself every few runs.

I've got a Roborock Q8 max that I picked up for around $200 last year and I really like how well it deals with my cat's fur. However, it sucks for mopping (basically just a Swiffer wet jet). I'm thinking about picking up one of the ones with spinning mops (probably the CurvX) on a Black Friday deal.

I have the cheaper Q10 S5 and Q8 Max models and both are very good.

Yeah I have them options available, but I can't be bothered most of the time as I know it will either get it later or I just send it round again (at most it takes 10 mins for the largest room). I have a Roborock q10 S5 and Q8 Max. My house has never been so well vacuumed :)

Mine doesnt do that. But higher end models do. If you have a larger house or lots of hard floor it's probably worth looking at models like that. Mine are the basic mop pad that rises up on carpet. I have the Roborock Q10 S5 and older Q8 Max. Vacuum wars YouTube channel will be able to help if you are looking for a robo vac.

I have 3 vacuums I got 2nd hand or cheaper from eBay. I have x2 Roborock Q8 Max and 1 Roborock Q10 S5 (newer model). I highly recommend getting one with a dock, as I have to empty the bins quite a bit. Whereas the one with a dock I just check it occasionally. You can normally get the Q10 S5 on offer at Amazon fairly regularly. Generally what I find is that if you run them at least daily (im in a family house), they keep the dust and dirt down and my carpet and floors look freshly cleaned every day. My cat flicks litter out the tray, so I normally do an early morning run to get that up just before I get up.

I can tell so many people in this comment section have no idea about robot vacuums and get their views from Roomba's that are years old now. I have 3 cheaper models I got 2nd hand, and they are probably the best purchase I have ever got. My floors have never been so clean before. Even the basic mopping surprised me how good it is, and mine are just microfiber clothes that just vibrate. The worst thing about them is I have to change the cloths and empty the dust bins (I recommend a full dock if you can). Plus, it will suck up a sock on occasion. The kitchen gets bits, juice, mud on the floor all the time as I have kids and a messy house and even my cheaper models do really well, saved me so much time.

Love my Q8 Max. Works great with HA. Only complaint is that I have to sporadically (read: every few months) reload the integration to reauth.

The roborock Q8 max is on sale right now for a good deal, it has no multifunction dock and just the basic charge station. Also has basic obstacle avoidance though not camera based. Good vacuuming performance in general. Has a sizeable bin capacity too. And a big benefit over other non-self emptying models, the dust container is at the back and the charge points are at the front. So you can pull out the bin without having to pull the whole robot off the dock. Second choice would be the Q10 S5, though the bin is smaller and cant be accessed unless you pull the entire robot off the dock and turn it around. Though it claims higher suction than the Q8 I wouldn't put much weight on suction claims. The Q8 vacuums quite well too. If you are mainly vacuuming hard floors, the narwal freo x plus could also be a good choice. Large bin capacity and good anti tangle system on the roller, but I found carpet vacuuming performance is lacking. I believe it's on sale now too. Unfortunately a lot of the no-dock models now share the design with self emptying units, which means often the bin is harder to access because it was designed with self empty in mind.

I think the Q8 is your choice. It's a slightly older model now which is why the price is so low (but it's still a fine machine imo). Works well on carpet and hard floors.

I think for your needs and expectations it's a good choice. It'll vacuum hard floors well and the bin is decently sized so you might not even need to empty it each use depending. And it'll have the software features you need to keep it away from the rug. I would say the mop is where it falls down, it's a very basic system and IMO not worth bothering with. But you can just not attach the mop and not put water in the tank. It's easy to specify vacuum only in the app. Just wanted to make sure you didn't have 5 dogs and expected it to vacuum a house full of deep pile carpet without needing to be emptied is all! It's a good deal for what it is I think. And I prefer the Q8 to their other low price machines like the Q7 L5 etc.

It'll handle that threshold just fine. But yes cat toys might get stuck! I find a quick 5 minute walk through before running the bot to pick up toys and other items is enough. It becomes routine.

r/RoborockBetween the Q5 DuoRoller+ and the Q8 Max which is better for cleaning with a husky?

My understanding is they are the exact same for carpets and dog hair. The Q5 is a bit cheaper with a bigger dustbin and no mopping. Q8 has the mopping. Where do you see the sale on Wayfair at?
