I went Roborock as the reliability is meant to be better than Eufy when I done reading into it (Alot of Eufys dying in only 2 years of use) Got a Roborock Qrevo Curv S5X for £450 in black Friday and it's been great. Washes the mops in hot water too which is handy. Routing and collision avoidance is good and it hasn't attempted to throw itself down the stairs. It's normal enemy are cables lying on the floor though which it doesn't recognise then gets confuse4d. Dreame were a close second for me as they're meant to be solid units too.
I have a Roborock QRevo Curv S5X, it does all of that. Our house is 3600 sq ft, 4 humans, one dog, and I have hand-scraped hardwoods. The floors look great every day. Vacuum daily, mop every other day…
Good question. My one dog is small & doesn’t shed. My sister has 4 pugs and it handles her floors (she has same model). Not sure whether the amount of shedding is similar or not.
I have had it since August. The vac can me loud if on the turbo setting, but I rarely use that. Mopping is very quiet. Our bedroom is not near the kitchen/dining/pantry, so it does those at 2am vac then mop (has never woke me up, just have to remember to leave pantry door open before bed). It does my hall/bathroom/bedroom/guest bath/laundry at 10am, then our offices (2) at 5:30pm. Basically it works where we aren’t.
I have never had mine fall downstairs, and there is also the ability to set the “no go” zone there. I will say that I have seen on Reddit that some people got a dud and had to get it replaced, but I (and my sister) have had zero issues and the floors are spotless 🤷🏻♀️
Qrevo Curv S5X downstairs and Qrevo Edge S5A upstairs. Main difference is the docking station shape/color. Otherwise equivalent.
Same. Got ours in November and the floors are spotless. Complete gamechanger
Agree. Does my hardwood floors and tile floors perfectly, and raises the mops for rugs
Nvm found it, Yeah I see the Curve S5X only negative thing is that it has Reactive Tech and that obstacle avoidance is even worse than my older S8 :/
Exactly what I was looking for. I chose the QRevo Curv S5x. It’s basically the QRevo Curv without chassis lift and camera. It comes with extendable brush and hot mop washing.
I am happy with it, there are two people with long hair in our household and we have zero issues with the divided brush. I don’t miss the lift, we do not have door steps, only a 1cm height difference between bathroom and hallway wich is no problem.
Mapping went super well, edge cleaning is ok. Obstacles avoidance works for me but we usually clear the floor so we do not provide a good test environment. It won’t run over my crawling baby though :D
It works well with regular corners / edges but I think it should get closer to some cabinets oder out bedframe. I think it’s way better than an robot without extendable brush though.
Probably the qx revo arc because its the only one with roborocks duo divide brush, which basically makes it have zero tangles at all. Which you will probably need because your dog is a heavy shedder. Just be warned that all those models have pretty bad obstacle avoidance, so you will need to tidy up before you run it. Sadly it seems like the qx revo ultra isnt in stock or isnt there all the time, which is basically the best option from costco.
Im pretty sure its good with carpets, the whole curv line in general is really good with carpets
The Arc is the same as the curv s5x [https://makerworld.com/en/models/1251457-roborock-qrevo-curv-s5x-x-dustbin#profileId-1274103](https://makerworld.com/en/models/1251457-roborock-qrevo-curv-s5x-x-dustbin#profileId-1274103)
Probably waiting for the curvx to go on sale for 899 ish on Amazon, because it usually does. You could also have a look at the dreame l50 ultra. I think it does better with pet hair, but dreame has slightly worse build quality and customer service. You can’t really go wrong with either of them tho. Depending on how long your cat hair is, if you think it could cause tangles make sure you get a robovac that has some sort of anti tangle, like roborocks duo divide or dreame/mova dual anti tangle brushes. You can see some basic vacuuming tests and stuff at vacuumwars.com for a lot of robot vacuums.
Yeah went for the curv yesterday for £550 in the end. Got fed up if going round in circles. Just hope my dog doesn't eat it not for that money. Should have maybe got a cheap one for him to get used to first.
For the parents it's hard to beat the roborock app for ease of use. The s5x is currently on sale for 800cad or you can get the Costco equivalent for the same price (the arc model). It's got the anti tangle rollers which will help with all the hair. Only downside is no camera so it'll be more prone to bumping pet toys or poop. The mova p10 pro ultra is 550cad if you want something better at avoiding obstacles but the app isn't quite as stable. It also is more prone to hair tangles. Overall really great value though
If you’re getting roborock and want to be budget conscious, I’d get the Curv S5X
It seems to be so. It’ll be worse on the S5X model. There is the MOVA P50 Pro Ultra for €749 and that could be worth checking out.
> -It should automatically clean the pads in the charging station with hot water and automatically refill the robot with cleaning solution and water. I don’t believe the Curv has a dedicated detergent tank for this so you’d manually have to add some detergent to the clean water tanks -I want as little effort as possible, except for filling and emptying the tanks. You still should tap the dust out of the filter once every few cleaning runs, and give the robot and its home a good clean once every two to three weeks if run daily.
Most robots should do well with chair legs and clean more closely to surfaces. The LDS only curv s5x will basically eat every cord and sock as LDS-only systems aren't great at identifying small objects, so please tidy your home up before it runs. Only the Ecovacs T80 Omni and the Mova P50 Pro Ultra have an RGB camera. The t80 omni requires ambient light because it lacks a flashlight, whereas the p50 pro ultra has one and performs better with smaller obstacles like cords and socks (ecovacs’ obstacle avoidance is pretty poor compared to other brands). MOVA/Dreame has the best corner and toekick cleaning algorithms for its extendable side brush and mop, but the extended mop can ride up against wall moldings when extended. If you have wall moldings, I’d recommend the Curv S5X to avoid this. I heard of P50 Pro Ultras having their front caster wheels break, but MOVA has stated that the production issue has been fixed. If you want this model, I’d buy it from a retailer with a generous return policy so you can return it if you get the older, defective batch.
Many good options exist! Very happy to report that my robot can battle my long haired corgi’s fur and drool. 3rd party consumables are easily accessible on other platforms like AliExpress/taobao Will say that the eufy e25 has been noted by some owners to be loud when autoemptying. Other than that it should work fine in your home :) I’d really go for a robot with a larger dustbin (300-500mL) and can fully make use of its dustbin space. Models would include something like the dreame 20 pro plus/mova e30 pro plus for a cheaper vacuum focused robot but higher end robots like the roborock QRevo Curv S5X (I’ve seen several cat owners put cat ears on their robot’s base station) or the dreame x50 (found for 699 at their US physical store which ships for free and the higher than average battery consumption should be fine since you live in an apartment)
If you need it to under furniture with much lower clearance (like about 9cm) and automatic detergent adding is a non negotiable, get the Saros 10. If not, the Curv itself is a good choice. Are there any sales soon? If so, I’d wait for those.
How tall is the piece of transition? For a single one up to 30mm, the roborock models with the AdaptiLift chassis (the most expensive QRevo Curv/Edge and the Saros line). Anything higher up to 4.2cm, if a threshold is less than 9cm long (5.2cm if it is at least 9cm long), will need the Dreame X50 Ultra or any equivalent MOVA model (V50 Ultra). I am aware that Dreame's L/X50 Ultra and any model (such as MOVA's V50 Ultra or the rare UK-only Dreame L40s Pro Ultra) that uses dual conical brushes has a *live fur compression* feature (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOOU0uJsVdU), which helps mitigate the issue of pet fur clogging the dustbin, even though the space isn't fully utilized. I saw it in action, and I think it lives up to its claim. It also cleans its filter when auto-emptying. This should be helpful for homes with heavy shedders such as yours\~ For paw prints, I think a robot that can identify messes like this and act accordingly would be important too. Dreame and Narwal do well with this if you turn on certain functions, such as their smart cleaning mode and intelligent mess detection.
After daily vacuuming then mopping, my hardwood floors became notably softer and had a shine. I’d recommend robots with roller mops or spinning mops. For roller mop robots, I’d recommend the eufy S1 (Pro), eufy E25/E28, MOVA Z50 Ultra, and the Narwal Flow. All of these robots except for the eufy E25/E28 will have good obstacle avoidance. For spinning mop robots, I’d recommend dreame/MOVA robots with the AceClean/jetspray dryboard, the Narwal Freo line with an all in one base station, the roborock qrevo line. If obstacle avoidance is important, I’d consider the Dreame L40S Pro Ultra, L/X50 Ultra and the Narwal Z/Z10 Ultra.
https://www.smarthomeassistent.de/saugroboter/ Narwal robots and Roborock’s spinning mop robots have the easiest to clean mop washboard as they’re completely removable (the autoempty Narwal models have a disposable dustbin attachment to avoid cleaning it but I find that rather wasteful). The roborock base qrevo is already a pretty good robot as it’s pretty tangle resistant with an all rubber main brush. Roborock’s generally vacuum better than the Narwal but the Narwal has an antitangle conical rubber and bristle brush that works great with the smoothest obstacle avoidance for camera enabled models with the best smart clean mode. As for models, the narwal’s Freo Z ultra is at 549 euros. However it’s very water hungry and requires constant water tank refilling and emptying. This should be the most cost effective choice if you are mainly concerned with ease of maintenance.
Bigger dustbin + good use of dustbin when it comes to fur (no empty space should be in the dustbin when fur clogs it) + frequent autoemptying = better for dealing with hair and fur. For a vacuum only model, the roborock Q5 Max+ and the Q8 Max+ have a sizeable dustbin and uses the dustbin space well and has an autoempty station. The dual rollers help with fur pickup. In the US Dreame’s L/X50 Ultra fulfills these requirements as a combo model. So does the MOVA V50 Ultra for Canadian customers. The QRevo series has the same issue with some dreame models where the dustbin will be clogged with fur but there’ll be a lot of empty space on the sides. It’ll be good for picking up fur on carpets with its dual brushes but I think the eufy X8 should be better for dealing with finer dust.
Let's make some corner points. \* What moves will eventually break. So you may possibly not want the most tech cramped can-do-it-all robot like Saros 10R, because repair cost would not be cheap. \* Do you need it to climb thresholds >2cm? Then look at Qrevo Curv/Edge and Saros for their AdaptiLift feature. \* Long hair and pets -- A robot with the DuoDivide main brush system is recommended. It's doing a great job with anti tangling hair removal. My best guessed pick would be a Qrevo Edge S5A or Curv S5X, depending on which dock design you prefer. The robots are technically the same. These are light versions of Edge and Curv, don't have the adaptive body lift, don't have camera and voice assist. But you save quite some $$. Qrevo S5V is an economy choice, also having the DuoDivide roller brush. For lower maintenance, go with a revo mopper. Don't get a Vibrarise / sonic mopper.
Best anti-tangling system on Roborocks is the Duo Divide brush, that is two half brushes with the gap in the center. You find it in any Qrevo Curv, Qrevo Edge and Saros 10 / 10R. If you don't need \- Climbing high thresholds \- Camera+Video \- Voice assistant then you could consider the light variants Qrevo Edge S5A or Qrevo Curv S5X. You may choose Curv or Edge just from the dock design. The robots are quite the same.
Best value is found in the midrange. That's the Qrevo series. \* Qrevo S5V is a complete standard model without the expensive bells and whistles. Above that, \* Qrevo Slim if you need it to go under cupboards with low clearance. It is also the last model with the famous DuoRoller design. Intense working on carpet. \* Qrevo Curv if you like the design and need it to cross thresholds, or like the camera and voice control stuff \* Qrevo Edge S5A or Curv S5X only differ in dock design. Be aware they are less robot than Curv / Edge despite having more fancy letters. Prefer a DuoDivide brush model if you face long hair and want some anti-tangling.
