"And my dust bag was full the first month. ... We have 3 highly shedding dogs and the roborock qrevo master does well but evidently the p50 does better. The roborock bag wouldn't be full the first month like this."
"Hardly, if any hair in the base after mopping."
"I also have the mopping Roborock and love it. We have 1 dog and 12 foster cats so daily sweeping and mopping is a necessity."

"It is my #1 most used thing. ... Saturday morning just head out for a coffee with friends and come back to a 90% clean floor without lifting a finger - vacuumed and mopped."
"I've had my Roborock S50 since 2019 and it's been absolutely problem-free."
"but the one I have now has been going 2 months with no problem. ... I have had no front wheel problem at all."

"But it’s easily taken apart and repaired once you get the hang of it and parts are readily available. ... Probably around $200? Not a great deal, the parts are fairly cheap even genuine and there are also aftermarket available. ... The first time I took it apart it took a couple of hours whilst watching YouTube, now I can completely disassemble and reassemble under an hour ... I did both motors at the same time and put all new brushes in it and it was like new again."
"And I have generic bags that work that are a lot less so it won't get so expensive to change."

"And not during the middle of the night like Roborock then you have to wait until the next night to email you back. ... Roborock was never a problem with me for warranty work it's just the process takes a while due to the response email coming in the middle of the night."

"The thing that hasn't changed much is actual power. ... Even the top end $1500 models have similar airflow to my 5 year old Roborock. ... But you need a fundamental leap in technology to go from current best robot vacuums to machines which can actually rival any mains powered unit. An upright vacuum from 100 years ago (no kidding, google the Hoover Model 700) will still beat the shit out of these things."
"the vacuum itself isnt enough to really suck stuff out of the carpet, more just pick up things on top. I treat it more like a broom than anything else"
"It's not, however, particularly brilliant at picking up visible dirt from carpets."

"still does a half decent job vacuuming however its age is showing ... It vacuums better than the S50"

"Granted the Roborock S50 is from a different era, but what the actual heck - clean/dirty water tank, washes mop with hot water, dries it, auto dispensers detergent, has a swinging mop, lifts the side brush during mopping (!), is dead silent when mopping only. My floor is cleaner than it’s ever been.."
I got a Roborock QX Revo Ultra from Costco (basically a Qrevo Edge but made for Costco?). One thing I'm going to point out that would probably blow a lot of minds is that I owned the original Xiaomi Mi Vacuum which is the first vacuum that Roborock ever released and the Roborock S50 which is the second. Both were released around 2017. The navigation, mapping and dock finding on those early pioneering vacuums was faster and **better** than this ultra high end top of the line model. Those vacuums never got lost or struggled to find the dock, they mapped quickly, and they returned to the dock quickly. This new one is trying to do so much, it maps slow, and it needs to think a lot to get back to the dock. If you set it somewhere random and try to send it back to the dock, it doesn't know where the dock is and it needs to think for a few minutes. All of that to say you'd be shocked that vacuums from 2017 that pioneered this tech and only did 10% of what a modern robo vac does already had a lot of what you need, and they were only $300.
They break like crazy. Even the simpler early models break. My Xiaomi MI and Roborock S50 both lasted 4 years and they had only 10% of the tech a modern robovac with a dock does. The Mi died from battery issues and the S50 has damaged capacitors / resistors / transistors.
A little late for this but I would go with the V50. Any model can have problems. I haven't tried the curvx but I tried 3 regular curvs and had to send them back. They dragged the mops when going back to the base. I haven't seen a lot of people mention that so maybe I was unlucky, 3 times in a row. The vacuum performance wasn't great either. I always vacuum before mop and there would be lots of pet hair in the base after mopping. I have the p50 and love it. Got it on sale for 799. I did have to send the first one back due to water pump issues, started in less than a week, but the one I have now has been going 2 months with no problem. Hardly, if any hair in the base after mopping. And my dust bag was full the first month. We have 3 highly shedding dogs and the roborock qrevo master does well but evidently the p50 does better. The roborock bag wouldn't be full the first month like this. And I have generic bags that work that are a lot less so it won't get so expensive to change. I have had no front wheel problem at all. Every manufacture can have problems. But if you need to deal with the warranty every time I have emailed Mova with a question or when the water pump went bad, they got back to me the same day almost every time but always within 24hrs. And not during the middle of the night like Roborock then you have to wait until the next night to email you back. Roborock was never a problem with me for warranty work it's just the process takes a while due to the response email coming in the middle of the night. Sorry so long but hope this helps.
This must be something else, as I used to have this weekly for years on my 6 year old Roborock S50. Recently I got myself the Dreame L40S with the same duo brushes, and it's amazing 😍 NEVER has this problem anymore.
Original Roborock S50 since 2019. Now I got Roborock qrevo s5v
It's pretty easy to open the unit and replace the battery with one from AliExpress. My roborock S50 turns 7 next month, it is really easy to change its parts. Had to replace the lidar a while back after a minor accident, changed the battery at the same time. Works like a dream.
Same. My Roborock S50 from 2018 still going strong after 7 years.
I'm still using my Roborock S50 (S5) from 2018. It has mapping. So that's enough for me.
i bought a used Roborock S50 for 45 EUR last month, which means it is 5-6 years old. i cleaned it up, it works perfectly fine as new. Runs on its first battery according to seller. cleans my 1000sqft flat easy when fully charged with 50% charge left. Flashed it with Valetudo to make it fully local and cloud independent and integrated it into Home Assistant. Repairability i understand with Roborock is decent and replacement parts are cheap. İ like to use proven products, maybe it has less features = less things that can break. İ will use it for a long time.
There is a lot of useless stuff in the smart home space. I bought 9 "smart thermostats" (high quality, well tested, 50 Euros a piece at the time) that had pretty bad software, and that required new batteries every couple months and did not properly support rechargable batteries. Huge money and time drain, I sold them and got some "dumb" thermostats again - much happier with those. That being said, vaccum robots are a useful product category. Not a must-have, and it doesn't really replace cleaning by a real person, but it definitely makes your home cleaner and allows you to stretch the time between cleaning sessions. I have a Roborock S50 from Xiaomi, bought in 7 years ago from some Chinese retailer, and it's still going strong, every day trying to eat socks and toys. I haven't exchanged any parts until now, but the brushes, filters etc. are all replaceable, and you can find those replacement parts everywhere online. So I would call that durable, probably not lifetime durable as all electronics.
Same, Valetudo is great. I'm still using the original Roborock S50 I bought back in 2017 for like $250. I've considered "upgrading" many times, just never seems like much of an upgrade for the cost.
My Roborock S50 has been going strong since 2017... And it cost a fraction of a Roomba at the time.
