"It also doesn’t bump into stuff, slows down and turns around before running into anything. I am impressed. ... The navigation is night and day between this and J9+, no more bumping or getting lost. ... I think it’s better, it has the front facing camera which looks to be higher resolution, plus the LiDAR does make a huge difference to the speed of navigation, plus it doesn’t bump into furniture or doors anymore."

"The best feature of the L40/X40/p10 pro ultra is that they have class leading object avoidance so you don't have to pick up your cat's toys or prep your house every time you want to run the robot meaning you can run it on a daily schedule which will keep your house cleaner. ... I run my X40s daily and they never get stuck on cables, cat toys and other random junk that ends up on the floor."

"On top of that, you get a great app, excellent navigation and good obstacle avoidance. ... It also has a really fantastic navigation and obstacle avoidance system that is far superior to any vacuum only robovac that I have experience with."

"I have 3 parrots so the floor ALWAYS has something on it. Bird poo, food, small chunks of wood, doesn't matter robots got it covered."

"I’ve seen on the camera the poor guy making multiple trips to self empty while in one room but it’s cut the hair buildup tenfold."

"With three they can just make it to a full week for emptying. ... Life changing."

"The roborock I have kicked and smashed with my foot so many times out of anger when it doesn't collaborate, and still he rocks 4-5 yrs later and no broken parts"

"I've used it daily for at least 10 years now, probably closer to 15 and apart from the fact you need to clean it periodically, it's still works like brand new."

"One huge leg up for a Shark over Roomba is that the brush roller is similar to a vacuum (e.g. hard plastic), whereas the roomba is a plastic roller with a rubber cover that is DESTROYED by dog fur and you have to frequently replace."

"Roborock has the best Matter support I've used. ... They support 1.4 which allows you to choose a room, whether to mop or vacuum and it's not just on/off functionality like Matter 1.3. ... Robo’s is the best so far that I’ve used. ... You get rooms and a few other features with 1.4, maybe even being able to select mop and/or vacuum. ... Also, in iOS Beta 26 we now have charging status support."

"HA integration is excellent. ... I don’t think it has everything but it has more than I need."

"in the app it will show you a layout of your home after it runs once which you can separate into rooms. I like this feature as I can schedule my kitchen to run daily and the rest of the house twice a week."

"Be able to go over bath mats/water absorbent mats well. When my robot goes over it, it constantly lifts the edge up and makes it look like it’s trying to hump the bottom side of the carpet. This doesn’t happen if I meticulously use the remote control function."

"the robot has no obstacle avoidance ... In terms of obstacles, that‘s pretty much the main reason why I added the 10R to my other floor where my cat and his toys are, it has great obstacle avoidance."

"The Saros also managed to get itself stuck under one of our sofas and got scratched in the process (the back of the sofa has a higher opening, it tried to exit through the sides which are lower than 8 cm)."

"Hair Pickup on carpet is better than the S7 MaxV but still worse than the Neato D7. ... I confirmed this by running the S7 Max V first (with rubber brush), on my upstairs carpeted room - that I purposely haven't vacuumed in a week. S7 Max V barely got anything and had some wrapped around the edges - as it does. ... For me yes but I say that mostly because of the tangle free vacuuming of pet hair and the improved hair pickup on carpets. I was tired of cleaning out the old one and so far with this I have zero tangles. ... The S7 MaxV had the worst hair pickup on carpets, with the stock rubber brush, of all the bots I ever owned. Tangles were minimal but it didn't do well taking hair off the carpets (it did great on the hardwood/tile though). Swapping out the rubber to the bristle brush improved the pickup but increased the tangle problem - it also created a problem with auto-empty for me a few times. ... It mops/vacuums significantly better than my S7 MaxV. Especially on carpets (especially especially pulling dog hair off carpets). ... That being said I LOVE the anti-tangle brush. 3 Months and I haven't had to clean the brush one time. It's literally perfect for me."

"We have dogs that shed a lot. It just got to the point where I was doing more babysitting of the vacuum than actual vacuuming."

"My S7 basically vacuums up the chunks and then mops the liquids. ... The biggest issue for me is that the moist chunks gum up the vac tray in the dock and I have to clean it regularly. ... The robot scoops up wet barf chunks that get in the dust bin and when the dock empties the dust bin the wet chunks stick to the dock and when they dry it’s like concrete since they mix with cat hair and dust that gets swept up. ... I have to unscrew the dust bin emptying chute and clean it in the sink and sometimes need a screwdriver to scrape the stuff off."

"But I dislike the mopping system. It does a great job mopping, but the mechanism in the dock used to clean the mops it too complicated and needs far too much maintenance."

"not anything fancier because all that hair will just clog any automated dock."

"J8+ barfs hair clumps over one of our rugs ... My J8 leaves hair clumps even when run daily. ... If I run the vacuum every day it’ll do the rug just fine. May leave 1-2 ropes. If I don’t run it every day, there will be more. ... The borders of the rug is where there are always ropes. ... I can run the robot twice and there will be ropes. ... I can run the Dyson then the robot and there will be ropes. ... I can pull the edges up, dyson under the rug, then Dyson the entire top of the rug and the robot runs—guess what I get along the edges? Ropes. ... However in real life my J8 is a fail in this use case. ... J8+ is meh for Pets. ... the j8+ barfs hair clumps all over one of our rugs."

r/RoborockHow’s the Saros 10R on carpet/rugs?

It does okay. It's still short of my old neato and way short of my Dyson but it does a significantly better job than my S7 MaxV with rubber brush. Notably with hair pickup - where it does as good if not better than the S7 MaxV with bristle brush but with zero tangles. As far as actual cleanup of fine dirt and hair, my ole neato still wins.

r/RoborockSaros 10R 24 Hour Review

I got my Saros 10R yesterday around this time (purchased it myself). I'm upgrading from a S7 Max V. Had a Neato D7 before that and a Robock S5 Max and very briefly a Dreame X40 that broke. [https://i.imgur.com/NwJO3iC.png](https://i.imgur.com/NwJO3iC.png) **Few things before I go into it:** I live in a relatively small home. My first floor is mostly hardwood/tile with a 15x20' area rug in the living room. My second floor is all deep carpet. I have a long haired German Shepherd and a wife that both shed a fair amount of longish hair. I keep my rooms mostly tity but my computer does have a fair amount of cables/wires that are wrapped together, but run along the floor. My wife also has a Korg keyboard that has a foot pedal and she often leaves it on the ground. **Super Pros:** * General hardwood/tile mopping significantly better than the S7 Max V. My wife and I both noticed it immediately after the first clean I ran. It covered more areas, got closer to objects (the pivoting side mop helps a lot with that) it reached under my cabinets and it was able to get under two pieces of furniture the S7Max couldn't fit under. * Low Pile Rug performance is much better. I do wish I could set it to 2x crisscross every time on the area rugs.. but the mixed pattern will have to do. * It's way, way, way quieter. General runs are quieter. Max+ mode (or w/e its called) is way quieter. Mopping is now nearly silent. The transfer from robot to base is much quieter than the S7 MaxV. * The Anti-Tangle brush is actually Anti-Tangle. All my previous vacuums would get hair tangled in a single run - I'd clean them at least once a week (neato way more) to get all the hair out. After 24 hours, I see 0 hair stuck. Not one. * The feature set is more rich over the S7 Max. This one is a think a bit annoying because I feel like a some of these features the S7 could do, its just software locked.. but having the ability to do pet area deep cleaning, mixed pattern cleaning, the rug options + all the leave behind the mops, extensions, re-mopping, etc is all really cool. * The detergent dispenser is a nice addition over the S7 MaxV. * The ability to clean out the tray and the self cleaning stuff is super nice. **Kind of Pros but maybe a little not:** * Hair Pickup on carpet is better than the S7 MaxV but still worse than the Neato D7. * I confirmed this by running the S7 Max V first (with rubber brush), on my upstairs carpeted room - that I purposely haven't vacuumed in a week. S7 Max V barely got anything and had some wrapped around the edges - as it does. The Saros 10R filled about a quarter of it's bin - but no tangles! The Neato filled the entire, much larger, bin, the chute partially jammed with hair and the bristle brush was wrapped completely. Neato is still king of deep carpet cleanup (if you ignore how jammed full of hair it gets) * I think the takeaway here is that the Saros 10R is big improvement but I find Roborock still lacks with hair pickup on deep carpets - even area rugs, to an extent.. over much older vacuums. * Pivoting Side Brush is good.. sometimes? When it works, it obviously works and pulls stuff out of corners, I don't find it working that often though - especially under the cabinets/corner cabinets. It comes outsometimes for a bit then goes away. (this is with the AI Lab Flexi arm thing enabled). * Navigation seems similar/better. In terms of actually going around and finding how to get there, it seems quicker (i haven't timed it) and it does less random movements like my S7 Max V did both during and after its cleaned. **Cons:** * The obstacle avoidance seems worse, maybe even way worse? I know it's only been 24 hours and I know the system the 10R specifically uses is new, but so far it's been pretty bad at detecting things, especially cables. * Yesterday when I was messing around with it, it ran into one of my dogs stuffed toys and got stuck on it. It also decided to "jump" little tray tables I have under my sofa, and got stuck on a wire behind them. (I set this as a no-go from now on). * This morning was the first time I ran it on a schedule - I do it early before I wake up, but I woke up to it stuck on the cable for my Wife's keyboard, the mop got wrapped in the cable and it pulled it off. * Just an hour or so ago today, when I was testing the carpet pickup on the second floor, it ran into a sock under my nightstand and got jammed. * Kind of disappointing considering my S7 Max V maybe got stuck twice, in the entirety of 2 years I owned it. I'm chalking this up to a combination of bad luck, weirdness because it's trying to hop stuff the others wouldn't attempt, and relatively new firmware on a new type of obstacle avoidance system. I hope it will improve. * All the Bins are too damn small. * My dog blows his coat twice per year. When that happens my S7 Max V can sometimes get nearly filled with dog hair. I've had to split rooms up into subrooms in order to force it to go back to the dock more often to empty. In this case - the Saros 10R not only has a smaller bin, but it's better at cleaning hair. I can see this being a problem. * It seems to use more water than my S7 MaxV while mopping, yet the clean and dirty bin are both smaller. Which means more refills. * The gloss on the front of the dock is a fingerprint magnet. I hate it. **Conclusion:** Overall, again after only 24 hours, I think its' a pretty nice upgrade over the S7 MaxV and I plan on keeping it. I'm hoping software improves the obstacle avoidance, which is my biggest concern at the moment. I also hope Roborock continues to improve it's suction/hair pickup performance - i really hope youtubers also create better tests for this. A lot of these guys say these newer robots are "perfect" at it and it's just not been my experience at all. They are getting better - in fact tangles seem solved, which is great, but they also leave a ton of hair behind.. even when compared to older robot vacuums but especially compared to a Dyson or something. **If anyone has any questions or wants anything specifically answered let me know ill do my best to respond.**

I’m really impressed with our Roborock S7 Max V. My concerns with a mower are: how would it do with rocks or sticks (would it avoid them?) and how would it handle dog poop (would it avoid it?).

We have a Roborock S7 MaxV. In addition to it's other duties it makes a daily sweep around the cage. It can handle everything except the nut shells and occasional toys that get thrown out of the cage. Have had numerous Roomba's and Neato's in the past. Roborock beats them hands down. Part of that is just the expected advancement of the technology.

So personally, I've moved my S1 Pros from home to the office, and they cover over 300m² daily (they run in the evenings after the office closes). for the moment I only have 2 in daily service. Before, they were Roborock S7 MaxVs with an (unofficial) water connection kit. With the S7 MaxV (vibrating mop), the cleaning wasn't perfect (a lot of traffic) and it often got caught in computer cables, leaves on the floor, etc. With the S1 Pros, the recognition is really good (I've had the robot get caught in a cable a few times, but it's rare) and the cleaning quality is really good compared to daily cleaning. However, the water connection kit is mandatory for commercial spaces like this, especially outside of business hours. On the other hand, for the S1 Pro it is 1x per week a blast of water on the plate of the station, in the filter of the water connection kit of the dirty water tank of the station, on the filter and the dirty water tank of the robot. After that it depends on the daily passage I think but it releases quite a bit of mud On the other hand, I use a lot of Eufy cleaning products. I order them in packs of 6 or 8 when there are discounts... For my part, I have a mix of solid wood flooring, laminate flooring, and tiles. A little carpeting, but very little.

Unless saros 10r has a different mode then cleaning order and task finishing notifications should be available. Worked at least with s7maxv

Have you ever looked at the CurvX ? I'm coming from a s7 MaxV with similiar situation with the dock being the #1 upgrade factor. Vacuumwars is suggesting that the CurvX is the #1 robot vacuum and the 10R is pretty low on the list.

I have the Roborock S7 MaxV currently, and the biggest issue I have is pet hair tangle/clogging leading to the robots dust bin not emptying properly (and having no alert when it doesn't) so it'll clog up and stop vacuuming anything. Does the narwhal have that issue at all?

I would suggest going to Vacuum Wars and looking at the latest video reviews. That YouTuber has the best and most objective reviews. Also Jamie Andrew’s is good if still doing them. Personally, I have a Roborock S7 Max V and think RR does a good product. But I don’t think $1600 is necessary to get a great robotic vacuum cleaner and wouldn’t spend that. I am also considering the E28 and the T50, but having spent $1200 when the Roborock S7 was top of the line, I think I can wait and get a great deal for $6xx between now and Christmas. If I needed one now, I’d consider the T50, but would scrutinize the reviews. For hard floors, I agree with another poster that the e28and roller mop might be the best choice, if money isn’t an issue. I think we’ll hear that the bin is small on the T50, but most other functions are solid and it’s at the top of Vacuum Wars list right now. But they have yet to review the E28.

I had a Deebot before (their first self empty doc). It kept falling off WiFi and wouldn’t clean. I dropped it and went to a Roborock S7 and that’s been fine. Back in the market to upgrade and I worry about X11 for this reason. But the spec list looks pretty solid. Torn…

My first vacuum was an ecovacs, I forgot the model though. It was working fine and I unfortunately replaced it with the Roborock s7maxv for the auto mop washing features, and have had tons of issues with it right around the 1 year mark. Now I’m back with the ecovacs t50 and couldn’t be happier

Yeah my previous one from 2 years ago was straight trash too, I’ve gone through quite a few brands at this point but randomly got the t50 pro recently to give them another shot. I’d say their app is on par with Roborock now, and the cleaning performance I’m getting from this one is miles above my old s7 maxv. Obstacle avoidance is still not the best but I’ve noticed if you run the intelligent cleaning cycles a few times, it gets better

Just replaced my S7 Max V with the Ecovacs t50 Omni and I’m loving it so much more than the Roborock
