"The self emptying base station is a must for dog owners"

"best vacuuming particularly if you pair it with an auto empty dock"

"At minimum, I would suggest a robot which includes a self-emptying dock... but it's almost a requirement if you have pets, unless you want to empty the robot out halfway though a job."

"They use both laser and camera to detect obstacles like the Wemo cars."

"Surprisingly I haven’t had my S7MaxVUltra’s suck up any socks. ... But not my toddlers socks. ... Same for cables. ... I remember when I first got them I thought it was funny how when it would see a cable it would stop, look at it, look away, then look at it again to take a picture and label it on the apps map lol"

"Its only gotten stuck twice, and both times were on the same chair that has horizontal bars at floor level that it can get over if it runs at it head on, but can high side itself if approaching from an angle."

"These are also not BIFL. ... Honestly, these will probably run at their peak performance for around 2-3yrs (depending on how often you schedule their jobs) before they start degrading. ... Batteries will probably the be the first thing that goes, but these are generally replaceable. ... If I had to slap a lifespan on them, I'd guess five good years."

"It recently died"

"have had tons of issues with it right around the 1 year mark."

"The biggest issue for me is that the moist chunks gum up the vac tray in the dock and I have to clean it regularly. ... It’s the plumbing that empties the dust from the vacuum. The robot scoops up wet barf chunks that get in the dust bin and when the dock empties the dust bin the wet chunks stick to the dock and when they dry it’s like concrete since they mix with cat hair and dust that gets swept up. I have to unscrew the dust bin emptying chute and clean it in the sink and sometimes need a screwdriver to scrape the stuff off."

"The self mopping feature imo is not worth it"

"I also have a roborock qrevo with the full dock (which my other one lacks), and it's so much more convenient that it fills the water and cleans and dries the mop all on it's own, as well as emptying the dirt."

"vacuum performance on carpet isn't great ... I end up going over it with a dyson"

"the supplied silicon roller, which would tend to skim the film of fur off carpets into cloudy mats of fur that were still embedded in the carpet pile"

"the vacuum itself isnt enough to really suck stuff out of the carpet, more just pick up things on top. I treat it more like a broom than anything else"

5

10

"the brush roller which would do a good job, but literally every room I'd need to completely detangle it at least once."

"The S7 maxv does really poorly with pet hair. ... Gets tangled in the brush all the time."

"the biggest issue I have is pet hair tangle/clogging leading to the robots dust bin not emptying properly ... it'll clog up and stop vacuuming anything"

Roborock all the way, my man. They're great. I started my roborock journey with the s6. Upgraded to s7 max v ultra for about 1.5k eur and used it for about 1 year until something broke in the dock, so I spoke to Amazon and they gave me a return label for a full refund. Good timing, because the s8 max v ultra had just been released, so with that money I got me the s8 max v ultra. That was may 2024. This week, the s8 max v ultra had an issue, and guess what? Roborock offered me again full refund for the return of the robot, and I just bought again the same model, roborock s8 max v ultra. The kicker is, currently roborock has a huuuuuge promotion on their amazon.de page, and I bought the s8 maxv ultra for about 650. New! So, soon I'll be getting the refund of 1.5k eur from them. Anyway, my point is, I strongly recommend them, and the roborock s8 max v ultra. At this price, it is the best value you can find on the market.

I’ve been running the Roborock S7 Ultra MaxV, plumbed in. It finally sorta gave up on life a few weeks back. I’ve just replaced it with a Dreame X50 Master, it is also fully plumbed in. I only have to empty the dust bin every now and then. Makes life so much easier, especially with dogs in this horrid weather.

I need to replace my S7 Max UltraV w/e it’s called. Main requirement for me is for it to be plumbed in. I’ve been eyeing the X50.

r/BuyItForLifeWhat smart home product have you purchased that has improved your quality of life the most?

Not buy it for life because they literally churn out new models every year, but I will be caught dead without a vacuum / mop robot. I love my Roborock. Get the models that have a spin mop and self empties. I have the older S7 MaxV Ultra and S8 Pro Ultra still which have the Vibra Raise mops. They don’t mop the floors as well but they’re still good. Honestly, smart home is more of a hobby for me and don’t think it’s necessary for everyone. I have a Hubitat Elevation as my hub. My room lights are motion activated, I have smart locks which is good if you have guests or workers coming over so you can share a temp code. I have mode lighting that changes based on sunrise and sunset, which I really like for day/evening lighting. Wherever possible, use a smart switch instead of smart bulbs. I love the Zooz line of smart switches. I have routines that I love like my Good Night Routine which turns off inside lights, turns on outside ones, and locks all my doors. Whenever we drive away, our locks automatically lock. I can press a Vacation mode button thru my phone and this will activate a Vacation Lighting routine to make it look like someone is home. I have water leak sensors underneath each sink, water appliance, toilet, etc with a Titan Valve on our main water line handle. It’s saved us from water leaks a few times. Particularly handy when you are away from home. We have smart thermostats but not like a Nest. I make my own routines to my liking. I have Centralite Pearls around the house. As far as particular brands, I get most of my motion, contact sensors, water leak sensors, and Zigbee repeaters from AliExpress. Try to avoid WiFi based protocols so your automations still work even when you don’t have internet access. Stick to Zigbee and Zwave. Zooz switches are my favorite Z-wave switches. We have Kwikset smart locks but I think Schlage ones are better made. If you do go with Kwikset, get the Zigbee. The Z-Wave is a bit buggy. I just didn’t like the way they looked. If you have any IR or RF remotes you want to make smart, I like the Broadlink RM4 Pro (IR and RF) and RM4 Mini (IR only) and I’ve tried other brands. I guess it’s really less about the particular device and more about the routines and rules you set up to make the devices do the things that make your life easier.

r/RoborockDid anyone Upgrade from roborock S7 MaxV Ultra to newer models flagship models? Did you notice improvements? if so what was is? if I upgrade I plan to get next model with direct water and drain plumbing.

Upgraded from s7 maxv ultra with the heater attachment and self plumbing / drain kit. I loved the s7 but i dread washing the filter and brushes because of the amount of gunk and the smell. I think i have very hard water so all of this congeals on the filter. The water tank above the mop also develops a bunch of black gunk as its very hard to wash the inside. Ive tried vinegar, alcohol, bleach, etc etc. You will see much less and limited models if youre in the US for direct drain and plumbing as it is not typically code to drain water here vs asia or europe. Anyway, i think only the x40 master from dreame or there is a saros one that comes with a complete plumbing kit. I chose the x40 master and although performance is on par, i see a few noticable improvements such as navigation, much quieter, flexible arms and mop for edge cleaning, and most importantly automatic hot water washing. No more stinky filters to clean and the entire pan can be easily removed and everything is accessible to clean. There is no more deattachable water tank on the x40. I think there is an internal one but it gets drained out and much smaller? I no longer smell dirty water when mopping also. I dont think i get much performance gains except for the edge cleaning . The rest are quality of life upgrades.

Dreame X40 master and never have to refill water or dump dirty water ever again. Really minimizes maintenance compared to my previous Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra with add on mop dryer.

r/RoborockSame price for Roborock Saros 10 & Roborock Saros 10R?

I had the S7 Maxv Ultra for two years. Cleaning was really good. But there were some issues. My main complaint was the dock, it was difficult to clean and maintain, and it would require a heavy cleaning once in a while or it would start to smell. It was especially hard to get the gunk out, around the little cleaning brush and wiper in the dock. I did it, but swore I would get a different model next time. When it died a week ago, I wanted to get the new Saros 10r. But regionally here, its a lot more expensive. So got the Saros 10. I had it for 24 hours, then returned it. It was smarter looking then my S7, it moved about more intelligently, and it crossed the high barriers in my house. But the mopping was surprisingly bad, worse even then my S7. I did 4x full deep cleans on maximum power in my kitchen/living room and in none of these cleans, did not manage to get any dry stains off on our laminate floors. Mind you, these stains were not week old, nor difficult to remove. It ran over these stains several times to no effect. I could moist my finger and remove the stain without any force. But it didn't manage to remove any of them. It vacuumed pretty good, on par with my old S7. But it did not reach out to clean the floors under my radiators, as my old S7 did. Don't know if it was an obstacle avoidance setting, but it didn't. It did manage to get under one particular annoying serving table I have in a hallway, where the s7 and older models usually got stuck, so that part was good. The dock was a clear upgrade in pure functions, with the detergent dispenser, and the heating system. But it still got nasty like the old S7. After a full day of cleaning, gunk started building up in all the same places. So, it went back. I really REALLY, wanted it to be good. As I have a ton of spare mopping pads for it, and I thought it looked cool. But it wasn't good enough. I am now contemplating the Qrevo Curv, as a replacement. Due to the easy to clean dock, and the different mopping system. I wanted to try the Saros 10r, but it's just too expensive here.

I'm not the person you replied to but I also have the S7+ MaxV Ultra for a couple years. It has the dock you're talking about and it's awesome. The app tells you when it's time to clean or do maintenance on any of the parts. Most commonly is cleaning the mop cleaning brush which just pops out, wipe the dirty water up with paper towel, clean the washable pop out filter and put the brush back in. Clean water tank lasts for about 4 days in my 1500sq ft. Dirty water would be close to 6 or 7, however if you leave it longer than a day or 2 it will smell when you dump it (dump it in the toilet as a protip). If you add about a shot glass of mouthwash to the dirty water tank after you empty it you can get 2-3 more days before it smells. I love our so much I just bought their new one with the mechanical arm. So excited for it to arrive.

Put in another vote for Roborock. I have their S7 Max V Ultra for like 2 years+ now. It runs every weekday while we're at work and it very rarely has a problem with our (hate to say it) quite cluttered house. There's socks, plates, forks, dog toys, kid toys, cables etc on the floor at any given time. It almost never needs help. I will say it doesn't like small dog bones that it can almost suck up cuz they get stuck. I like it so much I just ordered their new Saros Z70 (yes the one with the robot arm.) and will move the S7 downstairs. FYI they are currently doing their 11th anniversary sale and there are some solid deals.

Coming from an S7 MaxV Ultra after 2 years and now an owner of an S10, I can say, the S10 is the better choice. Done a lot of research on it over the last 6 months, thought the R was the better one but... nope. Sadly the R has a lot more issues wich have to be sorted out. But anyways, got rugs almost in the entire house, a lot of them high, a long hair collie and We're 3 People. So far after 2 weeks of having one, I am amazed. Only got stuck once so far, and it was on a fan, else wise, haven't had to put up even single No Go Zone, the S7 needed about ... 8. Was 8 the Max? Idk. But it was getting stuck way to often. Also, if You got a place for the fresh and dirt water and You know how to hook it up or someone to do it for You, I'd recommend the one with the auto empty fixed water hook up. I've got My S10 with the waterhookup for 1400 bucks while it was on sale, maybe wait a bit longer and get one with even less work to do.

I have a Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and a Dreame L40 Ultra, and the Roborock works so much better. It’s so much smarter, sturdier, has better battery, and cleans just as well (if not better). The Dreame factory resets itself every time it comes across a little problem (: which means every week I have to have it remap and put a ton of avoidance barriers. I wish I could put the tricut brush on the Roborock. (Actually maybe I can finagle that… I’ll report back if that’s possible…)
