"I agree, the auto-empty feature is a game changer."

"Hook that sucker up to your plumbing and you'll never have to bother with refilling and draining the mopping bins. ... It's fantastic."

"The second one I got was self emptying so it can continue all by itself and I really appreciate it. I only have to empty the main basin once a week and that's it. Super convenient"

"My favorite part of Roborock is the main brushes are rubber fins instead bristles. Cutting tangled hair out of a vacuum sucks. I don’t do that anymore."

"my gf has long hair and I only clean hair out once a month. ... The hair doesn't get stuck anyway, it just starts wrapping around the "mounting pins" on the side that hold the brushes. ... You can remove the rollers, pull those pins out and the hair will fall off. Takes 2mins."

"I bought a barely used self-emptying Roborock on Facebook marketplace a few months ago and it is hands down one of the best purchases/decisions I’ve ever made. One dog and a cat and I was losing my mind trying to keep up with my floors."

"it returns to wash the mop head anytime it senses the mop is dirty and every time it docks (thus the need for the water line and waste line plumbing), I thought this would solve my problem -- and it has!!"

"If you manually mop, the s8 will make it so you have to do it less often."

"It works very well for both vacuum and mop"

"Pretty damn good at obstacle avoidance ... Has a camera, AI and Lidar."

"the top lidar sensor will retract so it can go to lower furniture"

"You can control the sensitivity on the app and I have it dialed way up"

"I cannot find anything that will vacuum as well or better than our S8s from any manufacturer. ... This is why I still use two cheap S8s for all of our vacuuming."

"We have pets, people with long hair, and lots of hair in our house. Our charging dock only, base model $350 Roborock S8s with 6000Pa of suction power vacuum cleans much, much, much better than our $1500 Roborock Saros 10R with 18500Pa of suction power. ... If you are looking for better vacuuming ability, consider an S8 or a Qrevo Master. ... The same thing happened to me when bought a Saros 10R after owning a base model, charging dock only S8. ... You will notice a significant vacuuming performance decrease with any model that uses auto detangling rollers."

"The most important thing for me is that I do not have to revacuum my house with an upright after the robovac is done."

"This takes away the remote camera features, and makes obstacle avoidance worse."

"No obstacle avoidance system is anywhere near perfect. ... The best one can hope for is that it will avoid obstacles most of the time. ... No obstacle avoidance system will avoid obstacles every single time. ... Now I just spend two minutes picking up the stuff on our floors before sending out the robovacs. This works flawlessly for me. It is much more effective and reliable than any obstacle avoidance system from any manufacturer. ... As for the obstacle avoidance issues, we all have to adapt our homes to the robovac rather than the other way around."

"Sometimes it avoids things it calls pet waste but it never really is"

"However, vacuuming ability will not be among them as anything from any manufacturer with auto detangling rollers and super high pascal vacuum pressure will not perform nearly as well as your S7 when it comes to vacuuming rugs and carpets. ... But I cannot find anything that will vacuum as well or better than our S8s from any manufacturer."

"Carpet not so much."

r/RobotVacuumsNeed help finding the best robot vacuum mop for hard floors with great scrubbing
4 months ago

For hard floors and pets, the Narwal Freo X or the Roborock S8 Max Ultra are probably your best options. Both scrub really well and actually get into the edges. I have got pets and kids running around too so I know how important it is to have something that doesn’t turn into a maintenance headache. [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/KeepThisInMind/comments/1o1wp3o/best_robot_vacuum_cleaner_for_wood_floors_that/) helped me a lot , hopefully it helps you too.

As a parent with kids and pets, I totally understand your struggle and what exactly you need! For LVP floors and light rugs, something like the Roborock S8 Max Ultra or AIRROBO T20+ works great. They vacuum and mop at the same time, handle pet hair and with smart navigation you don’t have to babysit them constantly. You can also check out [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/KeepThisInMind/comments/1o1wp3o/best_robot_vacuum_cleaner_for_wood_floors_that/) for more options and tips if you want to compare before deciding.

How far away does it land? Are we talking a foot or it could be anywhere. I dont think this is an object recognition issue. You need a "no go zone" around the pee pads, end of problem. Most robots have such good poop recognition now that they avoid too many objects, but this is the best way to deal w your problem, honestly. I wouldn't do the Saros 10, I'd grab the S8 Max Ultra, which went on sale today. The Saros is an incremental improvement over the S8, so if its not comfortably affordable, downshift to the S8.

I don't think that, it is absolutely better, featureset wise. The S5a is not the original Curv, which I could argue is as good/slightly better than the S8 MaxV Ultra. The Saros 10 is the next up in that line.

r/FrugalIs it worth paying more for a robot vacuum if it makes cleaning easier?

I rolled my eyes at these things for years, but then fellow German Shepherd owners swore a robot vac would make dealing with the ENDLESS shedding easier. The RoboRock S8 Max Ultra they recommended was 50% off so I bought it. WOW. Rocky runs every evening and the house looks like I don’t even have a dog. The only other product that’s made my life this much better is a pair of 10yo Lowa hiking boots built on a female last.

r/CleaningTipsIs robot vaccum worth it for those without animals that shed a lot ? And just in general for cleaning /mopping floor?

I have two GSDs. All my floors are stained and sealed concrete. I currently have a Roborock S8 Max Ultra. I am happy with it. I can see the hair accumulation in a day when I was manually vacuuming. I have the bot on a schedule so it does different sections of the house during the day. The only time it’s down is when I need to do maintenance. Most of those tasks take about 5 min so I can get it back on its way ASAP. Previously, I had a lower model Roborock. However, the auto wash and refill on the Max Ultra is a game changer for my house. My favorite part of Roborock is the main brushes are rubber fins instead bristles. Cutting tangled hair out of a vacuum sucks. I don’t do that anymore. Before all this I had an Ecovac model. Great cleaning power but it regularly got lost, reset the map, couldn’t find the base, and then stopped charging correctly. I got fed up with it and returned it. Costco came in clutch for that because that vac was just not worth the money.

Roborock S8 Max Ultra with auto-refill and drain dock. Hook that sucker up to your plumbing and you'll never have to bother with refilling and draining the mopping bins. Just occasional cleaning maintenance.

It's a very light mopping. Not a deep clean, but running every day makes up for that.

I have the S8 Max Ultra with plumbing hookup and it's awesome. Super reliable, does exactly what I want.

I recommend the Roborock S8 MAX Ultra. It is the reliability king. The navigation is flawless, so it rarely gets stuck while you're out. It's expensive, but it buys you legitimate 'set it forget it' peace of mind

I have both Qrevo and S8. They have completely different self cleaning mechanisms. Qrevo is way easier to clean than S8 ultra max. Less parts to clean and possibly getting stuck . However Qrevo is much taller. That’s something to consider.
