"Pretty damn good at obstacle avoidance ... Has a camera, AI and Lidar."

"very impressed with its ability of picking up pet hair and navigation. ... doesn’t get lost"

"Its only gotten stuck twice, and both times were on the same chair that has horizontal bars at floor level that it can get over if it runs at it head on, but can high side itself if approaching from an angle."

"My cat has very bad mite allergies, and this vacuum is a must have for us for keeping the floors clean of all dust, dander, and dirt."

"it took my S8 and hour to clean my <900sq ft apartment - maybe 60% battery used"

"My S8 Pro Ultra vacuum performance was superior."

"Roborock gave me hours of my life back and that's not an exaggeration."

"This is my 2nd roborock in 7 years and honestly the price is justified. ... It lasts forever if cleaned out and change it's parts (app tells you when to)"

"I imagine not having an auto empty dock would be a nuisance. ... I spend a few minutes per week taking care of the robot, and it saves significantly more time than that, so very worth it to me. ... Newer models require much less attention. ... Docks with clean/dirty water reservoirs and dust filter bags so the vac auto empties itself. ... I spend a few minutes per week taking care of the robot - clean the onboard dust filter, empty the dock dust bin, empty the dirty water/refill clean water."

"my mopping roborock really did a number of gross floors. ... It has a vibrating mop pad instead of spinning things and it really did a good job."

"By the time I clean them after their mud fiasco the roborock is able to mop off mud and wet dirt off the floor."

"I changed for a roborock S8v and this is way better for mopping."

"Since long hair is top prio then S8 is out. ... I have my S8 pro for 2 years, same rollers as every other S8, one woman in the house if I leave the roller for “a few months” it would be so clogged that it won’t be able to spin anymore. ... I’m removing quite a lot of hair out of it every 2 weeks maintenance."

"Roborock refused to cooperate or properly fix the issue while still under warranty! ... Their customer support is all through email after you call the 1800 number, and their response was basically we replaced the board in the unit and base station what do you want us to do? ... well they never emailed back. Calling the 1800 number you get the "were so sorrycwell escalate this and you'll recieve an email soon." No email just silence."

"Sent our unit in S8 pro ultra, when it got back from repair, it was in worse shape, cleaned the house once, and immidately threw the error 13 when going to dock after it was done."

"when it got back from repair, it was in worse shape ... Oh and the boards they replaced weren't even for the same model, unit is very clearly black, but it identifies as white after the repair 🤣"

"it has alleged pet accident avoidance. Well silly me, trusted that, dog had an accident and the vacuum smeared it all over the floor and the docking station. ... I had to manually clean it and have turned off the schedule clean functionality. Will do a manual start after checking the room for pet accidents."

"The Roborock s8 pro ultra does not have a camera based obstacle avoidance system and is frankly old tech at this point, would not recommend it."

"our S8 Pro Ultra has not detected leading to several unfortunate smears."

"Cement floors are too porous for robovac mopping. No robovac can deliver enough water to get the job done. I have tried it. I just doesn't work."

"- the mop pad dovetail, ... Everything else was an easy fix with super glue."

r/RobotVacuumsHow Can We ( Vacuum Wars) Catch Real-World Issues in Robot Vacuum Reviews?

One big issue that I haven't seen covered - dustbin *effectiveness.* A HUGE issue on my Q Revo Curv, in a household with dogs, is that the dustbin opening is small - that means that hair and dust has limited room to enter and all just bunches up near that hole, not spreading out throughout the bin. As a result, it gets clogged quickly and 3/4 of the dustbin's volume is wasted. The S8 Pro Ultra I upgraded from had a much wider opening and I never had these issues with it.

r/BuyItForLifeWhat smart home product have you purchased that has improved your quality of life the most?

Not buy it for life because they literally churn out new models every year, but I will be caught dead without a vacuum / mop robot. I love my Roborock. Get the models that have a spin mop and self empties. I have the older S7 MaxV Ultra and S8 Pro Ultra still which have the Vibra Raise mops. They don’t mop the floors as well but they’re still good. Honestly, smart home is more of a hobby for me and don’t think it’s necessary for everyone. I have a Hubitat Elevation as my hub. My room lights are motion activated, I have smart locks which is good if you have guests or workers coming over so you can share a temp code. I have mode lighting that changes based on sunrise and sunset, which I really like for day/evening lighting. Wherever possible, use a smart switch instead of smart bulbs. I love the Zooz line of smart switches. I have routines that I love like my Good Night Routine which turns off inside lights, turns on outside ones, and locks all my doors. Whenever we drive away, our locks automatically lock. I can press a Vacation mode button thru my phone and this will activate a Vacation Lighting routine to make it look like someone is home. I have water leak sensors underneath each sink, water appliance, toilet, etc with a Titan Valve on our main water line handle. It’s saved us from water leaks a few times. Particularly handy when you are away from home. We have smart thermostats but not like a Nest. I make my own routines to my liking. I have Centralite Pearls around the house. As far as particular brands, I get most of my motion, contact sensors, water leak sensors, and Zigbee repeaters from AliExpress. Try to avoid WiFi based protocols so your automations still work even when you don’t have internet access. Stick to Zigbee and Zwave. Zooz switches are my favorite Z-wave switches. We have Kwikset smart locks but I think Schlage ones are better made. If you do go with Kwikset, get the Zigbee. The Z-Wave is a bit buggy. I just didn’t like the way they looked. If you have any IR or RF remotes you want to make smart, I like the Broadlink RM4 Pro (IR and RF) and RM4 Mini (IR only) and I’ve tried other brands. I guess it’s really less about the particular device and more about the routines and rules you set up to make the devices do the things that make your life easier.

This absolutely clocks with my Outlook, which is actually quite reassuring. The S8 Pro was the best that I had ever tested until I tested the S8 maxv ultra and it replaced that.

r/RobotVacuumsRoborock S8 pro or Eufy S1 pro or ecovacs x9 pro Omni?

S8 pro. I know that this is an incredibly overwhelming and confusing decision, and in an ideal world, I would now give you 800 reasons to support why I said that. But it would be super duper double rainbow awesome if you just trusted me.

I think the MaxV Ultra (not the Max) is one of the best vacuums Roborock ever made. I Liked the S8 Pro too, but the MaxV was better. But I'll tell you what, I think that J15 is a STEAL at that price and I liked it on carpet.

I have a roborock s8 pro ultra and its great. The integration works well and the vacuum does its job well. You do have to use the roborock app to set it up initially though which can be a dealbreaker for some people though. For me I dont really care as long as I can ditch the app after setup, which you can. >must be silent when it goes/comes back to clean a single room starting from the base I think you would be hard pressed to find that. Its a machine it isnt going to be silent. Its definitely quiet but not silent.

r/RobotVacuumsDo mopping robots really replace daily cleaning, or do you still ended up cleaning yourself?

Yes it does. It’s the most useful and amazing bit of home tech I’ve ever owned. 150sqm of tiles, rugs, a dog, 5 year old daughter and I only manual mop if there’s been a spillage of something. Had a Roborock S8 pro ultra for a couple years and now a Dreame Matrix 10 - it’s another level.

r/RobotVacuumsRoborock Saros 10, Dreame X50 or Eufy E25 for mostly mopping?

I have the Matrix 10 (essentially the X50 with a different base station) and my parents have the X50. Both performing really well so far. I upgraded from a Roborock S8 Pro Max which I thought was excellent at the time but the tech has moved on very quickly. The Dreames are at another level vs the older Roborocks (I have no experience of the saros tho). The mopping is fab. I have 90% tiles and 10% carpet. The S8 would maintain things ok between manual mops, but the Dreame mops so effectively I haven’t touched a mop since Xmas. It’s actually replaced manual mopping rather than just supplementing it!! For your setup and that open plan layout, I think you’d be really pleased with the results. Do take a look at the Matrix 10 it’s got bigger water containers and a clever mop switching system for different rooms. In the UK it’s on Amazon at £999.

r/perthRobot Mop & Vac - what to buy and what to avoid?

Have an eco vac and a Roborock s8 pro ultra. The eco is fricken useless. Worst purchase ever. The robo rock is amazing, the house always feels clean, device is super easy to use and maintain. Highly highly recommended.

r/RobotVacuumsBuying a Robot Vacuum Is My Villain Origin Story

The mopping ones have an option for how much water it uses. I’ve used a Roborock s8 pro ultra and a matic, and both have been great with linoleum and hardwood floors. If you’re really worried though you could check out the DREAME Matrix10 Ultra. That one has separate mop pads and cleaning solution specifically for wood floors. I go months between changing the dust bag in the auto empty base. The water depends on how often you mop. I can usually do 2-3 full floor mopping runs before changing the water and i have about the same size house as you. To avoid wet hair clogging anything, you can have the vacuum do a vacuum only run and then a mopping only run automatically as part of a routine. If you’re worried about using a lot of bags, the ECOVACS DEEBOT X11 OmniCyclone doesn’t use bags for its base station. Any robovac with lidar and cameras will have no problem with your furniture. Maybe keep an eye on the height of the robot so it can get under things. If you had clutter id point you towards the matic, but anything but the absolute cheapest robots will be able to navigate furniture. Personally, I really hate dealing with the dirty water tank, so I just bought the plumbed version of the narwal flow, but its not coming til next week so i cant give a review. It should also be really good at not getting hair tangles. So in sum Roborock is a good brand, I would strongly recommend something that connects to a water line, and the narwal flow has all the features I think are important (plumbed, no hair tangles, roller mop, can handle thresholds, obstacle avoidance).
