"I’ve seen on the camera the poor guy making multiple trips to self empty while in one room but it’s cut the hair buildup tenfold."
"The shark does a good job, I was surprised how well it did, actually, bc I was skeptical that a robot vac could be strong enough. ... we have a long haired cat and a large shedding dog in those rooms full time and a German shepherd is in there sometimes, too. ... It has made a huge difference in the daily cleanliness, beforehand there were tumbleweeds of fluff everywhere along with the occasional scattering of cat litter and regular human dirt that we track around."

"splurge for the self emptying because if you have to empty it every time you're less likely to use it. We only have to empty ours like once a month and I have a 14mo and a 3yo who drop crumbs everywhere. ... we have a Shark with a large self emptying bin and that thing is great for the price point."

"the only robot vacuum that didn’t clog or burn out was the self emptying shark one ... it’s been going three years strong."

"it is also so much smarter than the older cheaper brand I had that would constantly get stuck and just bounce around the rooms willy-nilly. This one maps it out and covers all the floor space efficiently."

I have 4 husky dogs and two yorkshires live next to a forest (100m away) and we bring load of dirt everyday. i have used many roombas like Roborock S7 Max (The one with vibrating pad) and Shark AI Ultra (Same pad) and found these types smudge it all over the floor like smeared dirt. i got later an ecovacs x1 with spining blades and it helped a lot as it changed the water often and washed the mops but my issue was that while it cleaned well it was bad at doing corners so i had black streaks all over. i used then an eureka j15 with spinning mop (like a roll not the blades) and it was very good but the mapping was horrid and it kept getting lost or spinning in circles. i got in end an ecovacs x5 pro with the spinning blades which i find best for mud as these pull water and made it every 10 min to clean the pads + empty dirt bag and it worked, it did not smear it at all etc.. the only issue with the X5 is that the app is okay it is not perfect and slightly buggy (roborock one was good). so in short: vibrating pads for dirt is a big NO, rolling mop is great (as it rolls basically and on top it is basically scrubbed and the dirty water is getting to a dirty container which may be great if you got more dirt than me) and rolling blades are great too when you are on budget. check used refurbs on amazon these machines are used for max 3-4h come with new accessories and are like new at like 40-55% MSRP. i got mine at 500euros while new one costs around 1300eur it was used just 37 min and it looked so clean that i was astonished... if you could get a roborock with a rolling mop it would be great if not get an ecovacs but beware you need to play around with the app and set it to clean mops every 10 min ah last thing: YOU NEED HOT WATER CLEANING as this breaks apart the soil and dirt and my x1 was in end full of mud rocks like it condensed and the x5 and j15 poured hot water and dissolved it. also look for a self cleaning station or like x5 with a base which can self clean and you NEED TO TAKE IT OUT to was under a sink as mine is full every day as the residue from forest is thick. also if you get load of fur then get an anti-tangle system.
Shark AI Ultra 2‑in‑1 is probably the best balance of suction, mopping, and reliability.
I’d say: Yes! We have 2 kids (2yo and 2mo) and a shedding dog. You will need to clean up everything off the floor though, especially after the law of entropy has been applied to the floor by the kids. Yes, some models can a kid obstacles better than others, but the vacuum still won’t life obstacles or out stuff back on the shelve. For this reason I only run the vacuum on demand. Overall I find it worth it. Cleaning up toys and let the vacuum vacuum and/or mop saves me a lot of time. We have the shark AI ultra 2-in-1. Very happy with it. It is more a budget model and if you sign up for news alerts and wait for a sale you get more than 50% off. Basic obstacle avoidance with the LiDAR Scanner. There’s models with additional cameras who do a better job at objects smaller than the height if the robot, although I’m not sure if that is worth it when you have kids and need to clean up after them anyways
I bought a used shark ai 2-in-1 and it’s been sick! It has an app and it vacs and mops. Mine doesn’t have a self emptying base but for the amount of time it saves me cleaning every day I can empty it with zero stress once a day.
Shark but the one that has the extra mop attatchment and baseboard side port blower for $399 at Costco. I have it without auto empty $199 bestbuy on sale RV2620. Or the PowerDetect newer model. I tried a Mova P10 Pro Ultra similar to Dreame L40 AMAZING hard floor performance. But carpet performance was lagging terribly compared to my old Roomba J7+ so I returned and tried/got the shark.
They always say avoid but never give actual reasons. I have a Shark Ultra AI, works great, zero issues.
I have the shark ai ultra for 2 weeks and it's been good so far. I also didn't want to go with a mop version starting out. The shark does a good job, I was surprised how well it did, actually, bc I was skeptical that a robot vac could be strong enough.we have a long haired cat and a large shedding dog in those rooms full time and a German shepherd is in there sometimes, too. It has made a huge difference in the daily cleanliness, beforehand there were tumbleweeds of fluff everywhere along with the occasional scattering of cat litter and regular human dirt that we track around. Idk if it's better than the others , but I'm very happy with it.
Robot vacuum was life changing. 4 big dogs and a cat. shark AI with self empty bin. It amazes me just how much filth this thing picks up. I manually clean once a week, have a bissel pet vacuum that seems to work fine for places the robot can’t go
Testing out this one as we speak, so far amazing ! $550 Shark - Stratos 2-in-1
I just bought a shark self emptying vacuum/mop robot about a month ago. Haven't had it during heavy shedding, so can't state how it works for that. I run it a few times a week for light maintenance on hard floors. So far I like it better than my old roomba. The roller on the bottom so far has not been getting clogged up with hair, and the self emptying feature is great. In the short amount of time I've had it, i've been really happy it. Hopefully i can say the same in a couple of years.
