"splurge for the self emptying because if you have to empty it every time you're less likely to use it. We only have to empty ours like once a month and I have a 14mo and a 3yo who drop crumbs everywhere. ... we have a Shark with a large self emptying bin and that thing is great for the price point."

"It maps well! Many don't."
"it is also so much smarter than the older cheaper brand I had that would constantly get stuck and just bounce around the rooms willy-nilly. This one maps it out and covers all the floor space efficiently."
"It maps well, so it doesn't miss spots ... It doesn't miss anywhere"

"its app sucked"
Can you stretch your budget? I am in love with mine. I spilled coffee yesterday and set her to 'matrix clean' the area and get it for me. With the vacuum only canister in, it self empties. I have all hard floors, so I'm usually vacuuming and mopping at the same time. I have to empty the dust bin myself in that case, but it's no biggy I run it everyday because the mopping capacity really can't deep clean, but that's no biggy to me at all. At least I don't have to do it myself, and yet I can walk around barefoot or in socks and my feet stay clean. I have a cat with long hair and it gets all of that, in fact that's mostly what's in the dustbin. It maps well! Many don't. It bumps into furniture but very softly. It goes under my couch and under my bed. I can look at some models that are similar if you like for a little less and see if I can determine what they don't do that mine does. I don't care about the self empty at all, for instance, maybe I could have saved a bit. https://www.walmart.com/ip/5641806583?sid=5037c41f-1645-43e4-94af-3dc27c21a0bf For me, good mapping is a must have or else id have to keep my eye on it to mop where it misses. It has to mop well enough, obviously, since I have hard floors and can't physically do it myself. I'm relieved that although the mopping isn't superior, it's good enough that doing it daily keeps them very clean. The one I first got was ridiculous. It picked up well, but then would dump everything that it picked up in a pile. The so-called mopping was just dragging a wet pad around.
I have a shark IQ two in one, 298 down from 500 at Walmart. I wouldn't pay extra to have one detect me leaving the house.... I can turn it on before I leave or I can turn it on while I'm gone... The latter is useful if the battery is still needing to be charged when I leave. It has to mop every day or at least every other day to stay clean because it's not capable of deep cleaning. But that's easy because it vacuums and mops at the same time. I hardly ever use the vacuum only cartridge. I do if I've let two or three days go by so that way all the crumbs and dust and cat hair get vacuumed up
You have 30 days to return the vast majority of them. Just dive in! I started with one that was like $150 seemed too good to be true but it had all these glowing reviews on Amazon.. of course it was complete s***, but I learned from that what was important to me and what specifically to look for in the next one. I am completely in love with the one that I have and I only paid 298. Obviously it would be nice for it to wash its own mop pads and all of that fancy stuff, but I can't afford it. It self empties in vacuum only mode, but that doesn't really help me because I have all hard floors so I almost always have it vacuum and mop at the same time. What I like about this one, a $500 model that was on sale, is that it maps well, and the mopping is good enough that if I run it every day my floors stay clean enough to walk around barefoot or in socks. I'm not breaking my back to sweep, Swiffer and mop anymore and it's completely wonderful. I do not care that I have to switch out them up pads and refill the water myself. It's a shark IQ two in one matrix.. originally $500 I think it's $599 now at Walmart maybe because of the tariffs... The brush roll never gets stuck even though there's a long haired cat it has to pick up after. I bought extra mopping pads so that I can toss them in the washer and then dry on delicate setting. Best money I ever spent
I paid $298, which was on rollback at Walmart from $500 for my shark two and one matrix and I love it
Well listen I love mine there are a lot of different models and maybe I have a good one I don't know but I love it and the price is right
I have one of those cheapo Shark like $150 vac and mop combos I fuckin love that thing- we only have LVP flooring, and 3 litterboxes so there is constantly litter and dust EVERYWHERE- and this little Sharkqisha Clean Latifah keeps that bitch *sporklin'*
Shark Iq matrix two in one.. There are lots of different kinds that are named that. Mine was five hundred dollars, on sale for 298 at walmart. This one has the feature where it empties itself on vacuum only mode. Otherwise, i'm not sure how to differentiate it from other models. I don't think you'd want a lesser model... This one maps well. Seems like one that didn't map well would be useless. You have at least thirty days to return it, i always tell people afraid to get one or stuck in a loop, trying to compare them from information online... Just jump in since they are returnable. The first one I got was on sale for a hundred and something, and with complete trash, but I learned from it what's important to me
I have all hard floors, so yes.
I'm sorry.I thought this was in the thread where I already had. Shark matrix two and one. There are like twenty different varieties under that same heading. I do not know how to tell you how to tell the difference between the models. 😞
People on here complain about the kind I have but I think it is great for the price, and i'm unwilling to pay more. It's a shark matrix two and one. And my personal opinion, it does all the important things well. It maps well, so it doesn't miss spots, it has object avoidance, so it will gently bump into furniture or whatever, but not harm it. It doesn't mop as well as I could, but running it daily solves that problem. Running it daily, my floors are immaculate. I can walk around barefoot or in socks. I have all hard floors, so I can't say how it does have carpet. It empties itself in vacuum only mode, but that doesn't really do me any good because i'm always having it mop also. I don't mind changing out the mop pat myself, emptying the vacuum part of the two and one, and refilling the reservoir. I mean, sure if I were well off, i would get a 1200 one to save me from bending, over and dealing with all that, but for the price point I don't mind at all. I can't tell you how much I love it. I have a condition that makes mopping entirely too painful.
Yuck. I got a shark two in one for 298 on sale from five hundred. Worth every penny. It doesn't miss anywhere, and it has object avoidance
I have a far lower budget. I have a shark matrix two and one, there are many varieties, mine was at the five hundred mark starting off, on sale for $298. It empties itself when it's in vacuum only mode, which doesn't do me any good because i'm always having to mop since I also have LVP. I am happy with it, but I see a lot of complaints here about it. Since your budget is higher, you can get a better one!
AV2310EDUS with self empty
I have three floors of primarily hard flooring to clean. Sweeping has largely ceased to be a thing due to my robot vac. It does area rugs decently as well. It’s not heavy enough to really get down in the fibers so I pull out the real vacuum every couple weeks and do over the rugs. I don’t use the damp cloth “wiping” feature because my upper floors are slippery and the robot spins in circles over its own tracks once it has wet the floor. In my basement, my tiles are kind of rough and I don’t think damp wiping would be effective so I don’t use that part either. When it’s time to unleash the robot vac, I do a quick run around for any large enough items or debris that it’s gonna choke on and remove them. I sweep dust and debris out of the corners where the robot wouldn’t fit out onto the main floor. Then I run the bot and come back later to empty. (Usually done before 90 mins) They make ones with vacuum bases that empty themselves. It’s convenient. If you get a vacuum base, get one with washable base filters instead of a vacuum bag that needs replacing after every fill. My friend bought an expensive one that vacuums and mops with spinning pads that self empties, self rinses, and dries its mop pads back on its base with heated water. He seems to like it. His house is all wood-look tile. Unfortunately his has vacuum bags as consumables. I also worry spinning action might swirl some missed grit around on any more delicate flooring. I’ve got a Shark IQ with the self-emptying base(vacuum only), a secondhand Roomba 890(vacuum only, manual empty every use), and a Yeedi K700 in white and rose gold coloring(he’s pretty). Yeedi has the optional mop bin with the wipe cloth I don’t use. And is manually emptied every use. They make it simple to pass a mop myself after the robot does its run.
I have had two of the shark iq ones that auto empty themselves for 5 years. Had to replace the batteries this year but they have been the longest lasting robot I’ve had. They’re only $130 or so refurbished on Amazon.
Don't get a roomba. I got the J7+ for the pet and toy friendly avoidance options and half the time it isnt running because of a clog in the vaccuum bin or base station. The bin is usually easy to fix, but this last time it was the tube that goes to the bag (another expense i didnt have with the shark) and that required disassembly. It also burnt out its suction fan in the first month I had it, prompting a warranty replacement of the part which meant had to disassemble the unit, install the new part, and send back the defective part. Incredibly frustrating. Comparatively, my shark IQ that I sent to the basement for eating too many toys runs consistently and clogs *maybe* once every 3 months, but the shark app sucks nuts, and the model I have uses the black strips for keep-out zones so it just ran everywhere and I prayed it didnt eat any cables. Its very robust about going up and doen ledges, but it is also way more prone to tracking pet messes about, that happened once with a pile of cat vomit and I was a little traumatized.
I have the J7+ and it does get up pet hair well on hard floors, BUT it clogs constantly. It can't handle any debris larger than a quarter in diameter at most without it getting stuck in the bin due to the size of the emptying tube. I have a kid whose paper scraps freqently end up on the floor and those clog it about once every 2 weeks and prompt me to have to take apart the base. If I dodnt spend so much on it Id have thrown it away by now. My shark IQ did not have that problem, but its app sucked and it runs over a lot more stuff. It has eaten and unloaded barbie shoes into its base, wheras the roomba i always find the shoes in the unit when it throws an error.
I just want to tell you how helpful these things are. I bought a SharkIQ (should have bought a roborock) when it was on deep discount on Prime day. What makes this different is that I have a big workshop/shed which is dusty/dirty and an absolute maze. The Shark managed over a few weeks get all the dust and dirt under control despite it not really being designed to work in this way and on rough concrete. I chose the shark specifically because it had brushes, not rubber rollers, not many with brushes and almost bought a Makita DRC300Z as that is more what is technically needed. (no HA integration and it requires connecting to the AP in the vac to control it via app, no infra mode at least when I was looking at it) Robot vacs are worth their weight in gold to many with ADHD. Many of us do not see mess, dust, dog hair etc. HA in general is scaffolding to help with my (and my wife's) neurodivergent wiring, and the vac is just a great addition to all this. Unfortunately the SharkIQ integration is having [ongoing issues with re-authentication](https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/123392) which appears to be Shark changing their API.
After several frustrating years with my Shark IQ, and just a week with my Roborock, 1000% suggest Roborock.
I got the Costco Roborock Revo Q (I think that's what it's called). Super happy with it. Can't tell you about any of the others but for sure get one with a mop. I had the Shark IQ and it kept chewing baseboards and banging hard into stuff. And yes, get it at Costco obviously. Costco is the best because of the return policy.
