r/smarthomeWhat are the current best robot vacuum cleaners that you're now swearing by for home?

Shark, whatever self-emptying model Costco has. I got mine a couple years ago, it cleans well, handles pet hair better than any other vacuum I've tried (my long-haired super-floof is a vacuum killer) and it maps nicely for logical cleaning. I use mine with hardwood floors and carpet (mix of real carpet and area rugs) and it handles all of it well. They just added some smart voice skills which I haven't tried yet, but controlling the robot from the app or the buttons on top of it is very easy. With the app it can be set to clean only one room, or clean the entire house on a regular schedule. My only complaint is that I can't schedule just specific rooms to clean regularly, I'd love to be able to do the most kitty-messy space daily and the whole house only every 2-3 days.

r/smarthomeAny good robot vac that actually fit into a smart home setup?

I have a Shark robot vacuum with the auto-emptying feature. The auto-empty is a HUGE part of making this work smoothly. The Shark is also much smarter than previous brands (iRobot and EcoVacs) that I tried. I've had mine for over a year and absolutely love it. I have used it with both wood floors and carpet, and 1-3 cats (2 of them with long hair that shed A LOT) and it easily keeps up with all of that. It's also good at avoiding most hazards like cords and cat toys. Costco usually has a recent model of the Shark robot on sale, I've sent a few people there for it. Looks like right now they have a vacuum + mop combo for $479, and you should be able to just not use the mop function if you don't want to. The Shark app is pretty decent, it will map your home and allow you to label rooms and track robot status. You can schedule whole-house cleaning through the app, or do manual cleaning for individual rooms. My only complaint is that I can't schedule individual room cleanings, I have a couple spaces that need daily vacuuming vs every few days for the whole house. Edit - it also has voice control available through Alexa and Google, but I haven't tried that as I use AppleHome which doesn't integrate with Shark.

r/homeassistantWhat are the most reliable robot vacuums for pet hair right now?

I have a Shark self-emptying model that's done amazingly well with up to 3 (long haired, highly shedding) cats on both hard flooring and carpet. I got mine from Amazon a couple years ago, but Costco has the newest model on sale. It's smart enough to map the house and you can name the rooms, and with the HA plugin you can do some advanced scheduling beyond just "run" that the Shark app offers. In my case, 1-2 rooms always end up worse than the others, so I run those more often and will schedule them with HA once I get that finished.

My home is a mix of hard floors and rugs. Last week, on a whim, I got the Shark PowerDetect 2in1 (vac and mop) from Amazon for £477. I was impressed with the cleaning power of it but had to send it back because I was unable to get it to clean under my sofa or up to the kickboards in my kitchen. I would have kept it if it wasn’t for that. Today I got a Dreame X40 Ultra Complete for £699 as I did my research this time and have found it to be a lot better suited to me and totally covered what was missing from the Shark.

Changes its own water. Dries its pad. And even lifts up the mop pad as it goes across rugs and carpets. 10 out of 10 highly recommend. Shark Power Detect 2 in 1

I have the shark from Costco , it works fine. About 1 time a week you need to clean out the hair that accumulates in the robot. That said it works well. Get the one with the AI mapping of your home and the 30 day bin. ( said bin will be full of fur every week ) ( my robot would go around napping dog and come back later )

r/Roborockdog poop question

we just adopted 2 small dogs (5.5lbs and 8.5lbs). their poops are not that crazy. they were rescues and we are still working on potty training. well, we bought the shark powerdetect nevertouch (sale, $750). there was a small piece of poop it got caught in today and it was RELATIVELY minor compared to some of the other posts/comments/nightmares i've seen online, but it ruined like 2 hours of my sunday and i'm so over it already and want to do EVERYTHING IN MY POWER to avoid ever having a more serious incident. i have a bestbuy membership that will allow returns. i went down the rabbit hole and saw that shark isn't great with object avoidance but many pet owners said they were satisfied with roborock. i went to the roborock website, did the quiz and the qrevo master ($800) was suggested and it looks like bestbuy sells the qrevo pro for $600. i'm thinking about getting either one of these. but these sales are good for another 1 hr, 20 mins (late to the party i guess!) i also saw that roomba j7+ combo has the poop guarantee, but in reading the reviews it seems to be less effective than the roborock, but it's available on bestbuy also for $600. my main questions are: is this worth all the trouble of returning/replacing for avoiding small dog poops - like would it really be THAT much better at avoiding them? could the roborock be a better vacuum/mop than my shark anyway? how is their warranty if/when dog poop is smeared everywhere - has anyone had a positive experience getting theirs returned/replaced in these incidents? would you go for the roomba purely because of the poop guarantee? in terms of what we're looking for in a robot vacuum \*besides\* the dog poop possibility: we have a cleaning lady do a deep clean on floors 1x/month and I do a manual spot treatment in between for messes. The robot vacuum is really just there because the dogs always track in grass, leave muddy prints when it's muddy, and just generally keeping up the standard of our lives. i'm 31 and this is our first time as a pet owners and we are expecting our first baby in a few months. we both work and are constantly tired so, really it's just there to help improve our lives and remove one more chore from our list. just want to keep things relatively clean. just looking for friendly advice if you happen to have thoughts and be awake on roborock reddit at this time of night.

Good point. We really only have 2 rugs they tend to have accidents on, and they are both dark Persian rugs so it's hard to really notice small pieces of poop. We decided to get the carpets cleaned and then put light colored sheets on them for a while so we can more easily distinguish poop pieces. So that should help there. We watch them carefully just about anytime they are free in the house but still I concentrate on other tasks like dishes or work or whatever and so I don't literally have my eyes glued to them. Even tho it feels like they never leave our line of sight, I guess it really only takes 10 seconds to plant a bomb. They are always crated or in the backyard if we are not home!  I think the problem with today's accident is that one of them must have done the deed before bed last night while we were picking up dinner, somehow without either of us seeing it. the vacuum is scheduled every morning at 8 and we weren't out of bed yet. Either that or one of them did it in the middle of the night, but this is less likely to me because the dog who has more accidents can't jump back on our bed by himself and he was in bed with us this morning. Long story short - we are new to doggies and still trying to figure it out.  I ended up buying the qrevo master on Amazon and I have prime so should be able to return for 30 days. Based on the other specs, I think it has the potential to be stronger than the shark powerdetect never touch. But if it performs the worse than this one, then I may just return and re buy the shark that I would otherwise be happy with - with the new concept of checking for poops and having sheets on their favorite spots. It does feel like a major flaw that these robo vacuums are a huge benefit to pet owners but have this one major downside of getting horribly messed up with pet poops or vomit. Surely something will be done about this at some point - whether via detection/avoidance or building in an easy way to deep clean in the case of accident, or cheaper product/parts replacements if and when it happens. Or maybe an auto stop if it detects something mushy in the vacuum. It's just insane how many people's stuff and expensive vacuums have been ruined this way! Like i said, my case is relatively minor in comparison.

Shark nevertouch combo from Costco is amazing. See my comment above. It’s around 550.

I recently got a shark nevertouch combo robot from Costco and it’s amazing! I first tried a roborock and iRobot j9. The shark is better and I researched and watched videos on more expensive ones and it gets my floors so clean I think it’s the best but right now. The roborock was horrible on carpet. My first was a neato d7. It vacuums really well. New one had to at least come close!

My shark power detect no touch does a fairly good job, other than messing up the rugs (rug dependent) it does a great job. Mopping too. But I always vacuum and mop twice because my dogs crowd while playing around it

r/VacuumCleanersWhat’s the Best Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum Right Now (2026)? Worth the Upgrade?

I’ve had two of these for 5 years. https://a.co/d/08WVyNZY Still going strong. I’ve had at least 10 different robots over the years, these are the only ones to ever last longer than 2 years for me. I upgraded to the “shark never touch” that mopped and vacuumed, total junk it lives in the garage already.

r/RobotVacuumsWhat robot vacuum can I get for under $1000?

I have two sharks. Most are well under 1k. My main reason for buying shark is they don’t have bags, the dock uses a bin that you just lift and dump in the trash. A lot of people give shark crap because they don’t have the best app. The app is fine. It’s basic and does what you need. Honestly once it set up and running on a schedule I rarely touch the app. I just purchased the shark stratos never touch for $500, mops and vacuum. Been running daily for 3 weeks and haven’t needed to touch it except to add more mop water and rinse out the dirty water. Has not got stuck or lost once. My other shark is about 5 years old. While it’s in need of a new battery, I have no issues with it, I clean out the bin and filters once every 30 days. Both have been great, the price is good and the robots do everything I need to keep my floors free of dog hair and looking new.

r/RobotVacuumsThe Verge Review: The Matic robot vacuum is smarter, quieter, and gets the job done
4 months ago

Mine is a vacuum-only Shark Powerdetect. In the 4 months I've had it it has only gotten stuck once, and that was on a very challenging piece of furniture. It hasn't gotten stuck other than that one time, and I run it daily. We do keep a very tidy apartment, so other folks might have more challenges. On sale, I got mine for $350. Less than 1/3 the cost of the Matic.
