"I’ve seen on the camera the poor guy making multiple trips to self empty while in one room but it’s cut the hair buildup tenfold."
"One huge leg up for a Shark over Roomba is that the brush roller is similar to a vacuum (e.g. hard plastic), whereas the roomba is a plastic roller with a rubber cover that is DESTROYED by dog fur and you have to frequently replace."
"picks up tons of hair ... and has really good rollers that don’t get stuck on hair."

"splurge for the self emptying because if you have to empty it every time you're less likely to use it. We only have to empty ours like once a month and I have a 14mo and a 3yo who drop crumbs everywhere. ... we have a Shark with a large self emptying bin and that thing is great for the price point."
"the only robot vacuum that didn’t clog or burn out was the self emptying shark one. ... it’s been going three years strong."

"My Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE (without a mop) has never failed to return to the dock."
"The Shark has a never-stuck option so once it is stuck and you untangle it, then it remembers and will not get stuck again."
"it is also so much smarter than the older cheaper brand I had that would constantly get stuck and just bounce around the rooms willy-nilly. This one maps it out and covers all the floor space efficiently."

"a ton of minor things that make it feel polished, like the robot will announce on its own device speaker what's happening, like why it got stuck or why it's returning to a dock."

"The Shark app is notoriously terrible ... But now we are continually annoyed by the slow, horrible app."
"The app is terrible"
"The app is .. .pretty poor"
I have a Shark Detect Pro on my main floor and a Shark IQ in my basement. I also have two long haired GSDs. I run the IQ daily and the Detect Pro twice a day. The rollers do tend to get hair wrapped around them but once or twice a week but I think that’s any robot vacuum. The single side brushes that come on the robots are lame. Amazon has replacements that have 3 brushes, I recommend those. The dust bin also needs to be emptied every week, not 30 days like advertised. I only have hard floors so I can’t comment on how it handles carpet. The app is terrible and I use Google Assistant to have the robots run according to my schedules.
r/RobotVacuums • What’s the best self-emptying vacuum only device? ->For vacuum only, I'm enjoying the Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE.
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum only robot? ->The Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE is probably the best of the current vacuum-only models and it has been great for me. My dog is short haired but my neighbor in the apartment next door has a corgi so we get some of his shedding trailing in LOL But it's not a ton so I can't speak to how tangled things can get. Obstacle avoidance is ok but not fantastic and doesn't really see very low objects like a nylabone. Some of the very high end robots will have better obstacle avoidance but will also have a mop and therefore a smaller vacuum bin. Lots of trade-offs when deciding between robots, but like I said the Powerdetect is great for us.
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum-only robot for carpet with pet hair? ->My Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE (without a mop) has never failed to return to the dock. Maybe your WiFi is spotty or maybe your unit is bad?
r/RobotVacuums • Shark 2-in-1 from Costco will not return to dock daily ->We've been enjoying our Shark Powerdetect av2820ae. It's getting more difficult to find great models without a mop.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Vacuum Only Robot ->If you want a vacuum-only I'm enjoying the Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE. Shark gets a lot of hate on this sub but it's been great for me. It's getting more difficult to find advanced models without a mop as every brand seems to be adding it now, but I didn't want or need mopping.
r/RobotVacuums • First Time Robot Vacuum - Need Suggestions ->I can sort of recommend the vacuum-only Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE. We've had it for a few months and it does a great job with fairly good obstacle avoidance and great suction BUT Shark recently updated the software and completely broke Google Home functionality. The Shark app is notoriously terrible, but when we could use Google Home it wasn't a big deal to avoid using the Shark app. But now we are continually annoyed by the slow, horrible app. Supposedly they are working on fixing the issue, but I can't really get a straight answer from Shark customer support. So, the robot is great
r/RobotVacuums • Best vacuum only options ->Mine is a vacuum-only Shark Powerdetect. In the 4 months I've had it it has only gotten stuck once, and that was on a very challenging piece of furniture. It hasn't gotten stuck other than that one time, and I run it daily. We do keep a very tidy apartment, so other folks might have more challenges. On sale, I got mine for $350. Less than 1/3 the cost of the Matic.
r/RobotVacuums • The Verge Review: The Matic robot vacuum is smarter, quieter, and gets the job done ->Shark powerdetect vacuum only model. But roomba has a pet poop guarantee on some models so might be looking into that too!
r/RobotVacuums • Dog parents! What vacuum-only robot works GREAT for pet hair? ->https://www.amazon.com/Shark-RV2820AE-Self-Empty-Technologies-Deep-Clean/dp/B0CHL2FQBW?ref_=pb_hm_dp&th=1&psc=1 We had the mopping one. Its vacuuming performance is very good. Or the mova p10+ is a budget friendly choice too.
r/RobotVacuums • What’s the best robot vacuum for pet hair under $300 - 2025? Looking for recommendations! ->Shark AV2820S. We had the unit that mopped. This robot is extremely good at vacuuming hard floors and removing cat litter from grout lines. One of our cats was bad at kicking out litter and this robot never failed to vacuum it up.
r/RobotVacuums • Cat litter and lots of hair ->https://www.amazon.com/Shark-RV2820AE-Self-Empty-Technologies-Deep-Clean/dp/B0CHL2FQBW/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?crid=1IQD1KP3CAW56&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.XkvTqkk78rQjtehcmoBb9dIcHD-7vRtkvdvEuotiu3JdUPbz16IoepGdCIgyDK3SW5yo7_8bBweCfV0JMh8SVcihf1HBetm_L570vR-nF-jlaChWJWzhCjdARFuBUPZnJQNtXWzIIupebNgGeVFV5SmTJyUaQ0Tv3-1lqIesVCjTlr_fA52vSrmqm8xnx2S70B_DdloW86QcQ265Xq_y6A.JC_5IuQOOQwShqhG2EWK9PgxSOZleaJCfDY-MQHiD5c&dib_tag=se&keywords=shark+robot&qid=1748994219&sprefix=shark+robot%2Caps%2C431&sr=8-8
r/RobotVacuums • Recommendations for one to clean pet hair and litter in small space ->We had the one with a mop. Its vacuuming performance is very good and is bagless so no need to buy those.
r/RobotVacuums • Recommendations for one to clean pet hair and litter in small space ->The shark powerdetect vac only model. I had the mopping version and the vacuum capabilities were incredible for its price. Plus it’s bagless so if you are expecting a lot of hair it will save you money in the long run.
r/RobotVacuums • Help! Robot vacuum headache! ->We really enjoy our Dyson 360 visnav. We also liked our shark powerdetect and they make a vacuum only model of it.
r/RobotVacuums • Vacuum only robot ->Roomba had the separate mop and vac units but I don’t believe they make them anymore. I really enjoy our Dyson vac only model. It’s extremely powerful. I was also impressed with our shark powerdetect unit and they make it in a vac only model.
r/RobotVacuums • Best of pure vacuum robot ->Shark powerdetect was great at vacuuming. They make a vacuum only model. The narwal pro also looks promising.
r/RobotVacuums • Looking to buy my 1st Robot Vacuum ->Outlier here but the shark powerdetect is amazing on hard surfaces and they make a vacuum only model. Its pickup ability with cat litter is as good if not better than my Dyson vis nav.
r/RobotVacuums • Which robot vacuum to get: Dyson or Karcher or Roborock? ->Mopping most likely not. Vacuuming we enjoyed our shark powerdetect(can’t state enough how surprised I was with its hard floor performance) and our current Dyson visnav also does an exceptional job.
r/RobotVacuums • Is there a robot vacuum that can handle wide and deep grout? ->Honestly, once you get them setup on a routine/schedule clean you can have very little interaction. The shark powerdetect vac only model is good. The app is basic and has very few settings so it’s not too terrible other than the slow servers.
r/RobotVacuums • Robot recommendations for someone who hates phone apps ->My shark powerdetect could get over our large double threshold that was taller than this. 90% of the time it worked.
r/RobotVacuums • Recommendations for vaccums that manage to "jump" over raised thresholds ->We’ve been very happy with our Dyson. The only big issue we had was it not liking metal floor registers for the ac/heat. We replaced them with wood ones and it’s been flawless in that aspect since. The amount of hair it removes from the rugs/carpets is extremely good; we have 3 dogs and 2 cats. I should also mention that our shark powerdetect robot was also very good at removing dust/dirt from the rugs/carpets but slightly lacking in hair removal. Might be worth looking into as well.
r/RobotVacuums • Help please! Desperately need new robot vac asap (wall to wall carpet + long haired dog) ->Our shark powerdetect is amazingly good at vacuuming cat litter.
r/RobotVacuums • Robot vacuum and mop for cat litter? ->not bad, I was able to get a RV2820AE for USD$219 from Woot.com.. The RV2820 is probably the best of the Sharks.. The app is .. .pretty poor, so setup the schedule and just let it run, and it's brilliant. I have pets that shed lots, so we run ours every day, and it's a champ. We do empty the auto-empty base at least once a week. It does get stuck on socks, I have kids who like to take their socks off after school and leave them about.. but other than that, it's perfect.
r/RobotVacuums • Is this a good deal?! ->We have the Roomba j7+ We did a fair amount of research before getting it and watched YT videos comparing all the different makes and models and this was highly rated for pet hair. It’s pretty good - but like others have said you do have to spend time cleaning the hair out of the wheels which is an annoying and dirty job and also I find that I don’t run it very often because the sound makes my dog bark so I have to only run it when the dog isn’t in the house, which isn’t that often (of course, I could try to get the dog used to it, but I haven’t taken the time to do that) As an alternative to a robot we also recently bought the Shark Auto Detect and we are loving it! It’s cordless and really lightweight. It’s so easy to maneuver picks up tons of hair and has really good rollers that don’t get stuck on hair. I actually was looking forward to vacuuming today, which is crazy. I never thought I would say that!
r/bernesemountaindogs • Robot vacuum suggestions ->Just bought one for my dad’s house actually. So I can give a vaguely informed opinion, rather than just moan about them from a position of complete ignorance, like some of the other commenters. Over the last 20 years the tech has improved, but isn’t perfect. This one (Shark) uses LiDAR to map the house. But the software is a bit crappy (for example if it misses a room when mapping because something was in the way, you have to map the entire house again.) Having the LiDAR based map means it’s far less haphazard and much quicker to clean. However these are suited to large, empty ish rooms, not your typical small British house with stuff getting in the way. The robot can spend a lot of its time fidgeting around the obstacles. The suction is OK for basic cleaning but if you have pet hair on carpets, forget about it. This model empties itself into a base when it returns, which is handy, otherwise you have to clean them out on each use, which negates some of the time you would have saved. It’s useful for a house with a person who struggles to manoeuvre a large heavy vacuum, and which doesn’t get too dirty. (My dad has a cleaner who will clean it “properly” once a week.) For generally keeping on top of things, it’s handy. But in no way would this model be fit to replace a proper full sized vacuum cleaner.
r/AskUK • Are robot vacuums really that good in UK homes? ->I was skeptical about getting one, saw my inlaws brought a cheap one and it was ok, they have now had it for about 5 years, we have a 5 year old and decided let's get one, we went for a shark with Lidar. This is how good it is, I forgot to stop the scheduled clean as it was Christmas and her play room is a mess, it actually cleaned where it could get, didn't suck up any of the board game that was out on the floor and didn't get stuck. The issue we have is the docking station is big and we don't have anywhere to store it so it's out of site. We have it on every other day, and I thought I would check to see what it does, if every other day is too much. I emptied before it cleaned and I was shocked at what it picked up.
r/AskUK • Are robot vacuums really that good in UK homes? ->Avoid shark robots . Just a year in, my shark lidar based robot died. My 4 year old roomba is still kicking fine
r/RobotVacuums • How do we feel about Vacuum Wars ratings? ->I have one of the Shark models where it’s a double canister vacuum. The robot is a small canister vac on wheels and the emptying doc is also a canister vacuum. It worked well for the first 2 years and has been slowly dying the last 3 years. I can’t get it to connect to my phone any more and the app is pretty terrible. Not the same model, but it looks similar to this: https://www.bestbuy.com/product/shark-navigator-robot-vacuum-self-empty-base-gray/JXJVXLJPRR/sku/6641726 I think if / when we replace it, I’m going to look at Roborock and iRobot. I also think I want to get one where at least the dock is bagged. I really wish I could find one where the robot itself is a bagged vacuum but not too sure if that exists.
r/VacuumCleaners • What is the best self emptying robot vacuum for pet owners? ->I use the shark one that empties itself and has gps (to map your home so you can clean individual rooms). Lifehack, order it directly from their site and then call them when you receive it to return it. They'll take 40% off to keep it. It's what happened to me after I got buyers remorse. Works great for my husky and gsd
r/husky • Best robot vacuum...for all the hair? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
