For vacuum only, I'm enjoying the Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE.

r/RobotVacuumsBest vacuum-only robot for carpet with pet hair?

The Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE is probably the best of the current vacuum-only models and it has been great for me. My dog is short haired but my neighbor in the apartment next door has a corgi so we get some of his shedding trailing in LOL But it's not a ton so I can't speak to how tangled things can get. Obstacle avoidance is ok but not fantastic and doesn't really see very low objects like a nylabone. Some of the very high end robots will have better obstacle avoidance but will also have a mop and therefore a smaller vacuum bin. Lots of trade-offs when deciding between robots, but like I said the Powerdetect is great for us.

My Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE (without a mop) has never failed to return to the dock. Maybe your WiFi is spotty or maybe your unit is bad?

We've been enjoying our Shark Powerdetect av2820ae. It's getting more difficult to find great models without a mop.

If you want a vacuum-only I'm enjoying the Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE. Shark gets a lot of hate on this sub but it's been great for me. It's getting more difficult to find advanced models without a mop as every brand seems to be adding it now, but I didn't want or need mopping.

I can sort of recommend the vacuum-only Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE. We've had it for a few months and it does a great job with fairly good obstacle avoidance and great suction BUT Shark recently updated the software and completely broke Google Home functionality. The Shark app is notoriously terrible, but when we could use Google Home it wasn't a big deal to avoid using the Shark app. But now we are continually annoyed by the slow, horrible app. Supposedly they are working on fixing the issue, but I can't really get a straight answer from Shark customer support. So, the robot is great

I recently went through this same search and I was disappointed to see that many companies don't seem to be putting much effort into advancing their vacuum only models. But I personally do NOT want a mop included. My vacuum station needs to live in a carpeted area and I barely have any bare floors, so I don't want to be dealing with the upkeep and maintenance of a mop station. I ended up going with Shark Powerdetect AV2820AE and I'm loving it. I compared it to the Eufy E20 and went with the Shark for better obstacle avoidance, real-world suction, and a height that would fit under more furniture. Plus we don't need the stick vacuum that the Eufy includes. We have one short-haired dog and we tend not to have too many obstacles. The Shark has been super impressive in where it's able to go - mounting our tall bathroom threshold without a problem and navigating throughout our furniture. It did get stuck one time on the legs of our Ligne Roset Pop chair and ottoman, but I was shocked that it could generally deal with these low-angled spindly legs in the first place! I was going to set a no-go zone around them, but I don't need to because it generally does great. It's only been a few weeks but we've been very impressed and happy with it. I know Shark has some haters on here, but it's been great for us.

r/RobotVacuumsThe Verge Review: The Matic robot vacuum is smarter, quieter, and gets the job done
4 months ago

Mine is a vacuum-only Shark Powerdetect. In the 4 months I've had it it has only gotten stuck once, and that was on a very challenging piece of furniture. It hasn't gotten stuck other than that one time, and I run it daily. We do keep a very tidy apartment, so other folks might have more challenges. On sale, I got mine for $350. Less than 1/3 the cost of the Matic.

We really enjoy our Dyson 360 visnav. We also liked our shark powerdetect and they make a vacuum only model of it.

Honestly, once you get them setup on a routine/schedule clean you can have very little interaction. The shark powerdetect vac only model is good. The app is basic and has very few settings so it’s not too terrible other than the slow servers.

Shark AV2820S. We had the unit that mopped. This robot is extremely good at vacuuming hard floors and removing cat litter from grout lines. One of our cats was bad at kicking out litter and this robot never failed to vacuum it up.

Shark powerdetect was great at vacuuming. They make a vacuum only model. The narwal pro also looks promising.

Mopping most likely not. Vacuuming we enjoyed our shark powerdetect(can’t state enough how surprised I was with its hard floor performance) and our current Dyson visnav also does an exceptional job.

We’ve been very happy with our Dyson. The only big issue we had was it not liking metal floor registers for the ac/heat. We replaced them with wood ones and it’s been flawless in that aspect since. The amount of hair it removes from the rugs/carpets is extremely good; we have 3 dogs and 2 cats. I should also mention that our shark powerdetect robot was also very good at removing dust/dirt from the rugs/carpets but slightly lacking in hair removal. Might be worth looking into as well.

I got the shark powerdetect without the mop function (only vacuum) for my 50sqm apartment and it’s perfect. It does what it says, no more no less. It does not get stuck. Got it for 200eur on Black Friday. The app is good, I don’t know better but since people are complaining, on my side all clear

not bad, I was able to get a RV2820AE for USD$219 from Woot.com.. The RV2820 is probably the best of the Sharks.. The app is .. .pretty poor, so setup the schedule and just let it run, and it's brilliant. I have pets that shed lots, so we run ours every day, and it's a champ. We do empty the auto-empty base at least once a week. It does get stuck on socks, I have kids who like to take their socks off after school and leave them about.. but other than that, it's perfect.

r/RobotVacuumsDaily Vacuuming for 2 Shedding Dogs – What Robot Vac Works for You?

3 heavily shedding pets here (2 dogs, 1 cat) and several humans with long hair. I like Shark for the sole reason because of the bagless autoempty base station. We would fill up a bag like once or twice a week. I ain't buying that many bags. Bagless or GTFO. Shark RV2520AE lasted 2 years of running \*every single day\* before .. .meeting with an untimely demise - I don't blame Shark. I replaced with Shark RV2820AE- It is better than the RV2520, and in 3 weeks, it has only gotten stuck on a sock once so far. The older 2520 got stuck at least once or twice every day, sometimes more. Shark App is slow, but once you get the house set up, and the schedule.. it's set it and forget it. It just runs. And it has been slowly getting less bad As for Shark - if you can get it on sale, it's really not a bad buy.

The shark 2820 power detect never stuck, is pretty good.  The app is.. lousy, but setup a schedule, and let it run, and it does a good job. I don't reo use the app, so . Doesn't matter particularly. No mop, and does avoid some things. More importantly, it doesn't get stuck.  It can go over high thresholds, It does great on pet hair, we have three heavy shedding pets .  And I run the shark every day.  We empty the "60 day" bin about once a week, and clean the filters about once every 4 months.

So ive been doing a TON of research this past week after returning my Roomba 707 Max Combo (Costco's version of the 705) due to the dock issues, poor QC and of course the lingering bankruptcy of the company. Ive watched "Just a dad" videos, Vacuum wars and a few others since they rank them etc. The Roborock QX Revo Ultra is a top contender as its a good "All Around" vacuum, It has the flexi arm for the side brush and mop to help get into corners, obstacle avoidance is really good and it even has a dirt detect sensor inside. This one will be my overall recommendation for a vac of that price range. With all that said, When I picked up my Roomba, my local warehouse had the Shark PowerDetect vac on sale so I decided to pick it up. That vac does NOT get the recognition it should! Yes it looks cheap with all the shiny plastic but its actually a very nice robot and base station! Its a bagless set up so all the debris goes into a dust canister that you just empty it into a trash can, it also has this little air scent thing so when the base station vacuum comes on it blows the air through this fragrance puck that helps make the area smell nice (Its a gimmick, but its a nice one). The Shark can leave its mop at the base station so it can do its vac runs and then come back to grab the mop or it can do both at the same time and when it detects carpet it will actually lift its back end straight up so the mop is away from the carpet, it looks hilarious as its vacuuming but it keeps your carpets dry! It also has a dirt detect feature that does a really good job, if it detects an area is dirtier it will keep vacuuming that area and go back a 2nd time, it will also mark it in the app so you can go back to see whats causing the extra dirt. It does not have an extender arm, however it has a sensor and if it detects debris in the corner where it cant reach it actually blows a puff of air to get it out of the corner. Its actually pretty cool and works well. (They are also in the warehouse) The main reason the Shark vacs don't get a lot of love is their app is very lackluster and missing a bunch of features these other companies have. I figured I would mention it just in case you were interested in that model, I have it in the guest house and let it run and keep that area clean. I personally went with Mova Mobius 60 which is arriving today so fingers crossed that goes well lol Overall I think you would be happy with the Roborock, I had 2 Roborocks before (S7MaxV and S8MaxV) and they both were AMAZING, Roborock also just scored #1 in customer service with Vacuum Wars.

The blower idea is already done by shark and it is a pretty bad for dust. It blows it around. Shark® PowerDetect™ Robot Vacuum - EdgeDetect testing - pretty much a mess?! https://youtu.be/T9eTIXeagF4 At the end I also wipe the upper part of the shiny furniture strip that was completely dustfree before the test run.

I have a very sheddy dog and my new Shark self emptying vacuum is kicking ass. It’s the AV2820S model. I’m really pleased. It has to empty itself three times every night because of the hair, but it’s getting it done.

I use the shark one that empties itself and has gps (to map your home so you can clean individual rooms). Lifehack, order it directly from their site and then call them when you receive it to return it. They'll take 40% off to keep it. It's what happened to me after I got buyers remorse. Works great for my husky and gsd

Can you explain a little more on this? In genuinely curious cause I've had my Shark that auto empties and have had it for a month or two now and it hasn't caused any problems. I've had to clean out the filters already cause they got really dusty but nothing else besides that

Yeah the filter cleaning isn't as nice as not cleaning the filter but I don't mind. It's still quicker than vacuuming my place.
