"A good robovac is a life changer. Even a $350 basic S8. It is a great place to start. ... I promise you that you will not be disappointed by a basic S8. It will change your life even if it can't fit under every piece of furniture you own. ... My two S8s just finished vacuuming our entire house in about 46 minutes. ... While my floors were being cleaned, I sat comfortably on our patio in the cool shade with a slight breeze and composed my far too long response to you while sipping a diet soda and relaxing. ... I will have to spend about four minutes maintaining my two S8s. This will be my entire contribution to my home floor cleaning effort for today. Four minutes!"
"Like 500$ these robots are currently the steal of the century ... You can get a mova p10 pro ultra (cannot remove its mops), equivalent to the l40/x40 for 500$ after a discount code"
"For an open style earbud, these genuinely surprised me with their overall performance in sound at this price point. ... IMHO, these Soundpeats PearlClip Pro are probably the best I’ve heard in this under $50 price category when it comes to this style of earbuds. ... These are one of the best clip-on earbuds in this price category especially when it comes to price to performance in sound quality and feature set"

"I absolutely do not regret buying the robot vacuum. ... My room is a lot cleaner and dust-free now, and I can tell just by wiping my floor with a wet toilet paper and seeing barely anything picked up. ... I've been getting allergens a ton less, most of which not even in my room. ... All this for the commitment of a weekly emptying is miles more convenient than vacuuming traditionally, as opposed to making a few taps on my phone. ... looking back it was definitely worth the investment."
"My cat has very bad mite allergies, and this vacuum is a must have for us for keeping the floors clean of all dust, dander, and dirt."
"The second floor of my house is all carpeted, and I used to clean with a Dyson V8, but since I got the E28, I haven't vacuumed myself."

"I also have two giant long haired (nonshedding excessively) cats. I shed hair a LOT. Worse than the cats. It works so well."
"I found that it was even able to get up caked on Kitty vomit if I simply sprayed those areas with cleaning vinegar beforehand. ... I was pleasantly surprised."

"Additional plus for this model is that it has option for professional mopping, and it does wonders. It actually cleans very well."
"Arguably the only truly quiet function, you can also pick how much water it dispenses in three levels."

"die Sperrzonen funktionieren perfekt"
"You can create virtual walls within the map, set a no vacuum&mop area, and a no-mop area. ... I also used the no vacuum&mop in places with a lot of wires."

"The object avoidance is pretty horrendous."
"It has a sensor but is still pretty clumsy and will bump into things along its way. ... This could damage or chip objects in the long run. ... It also always runs over my flips-flops and other small objects, so I always get them out of the way before starting it."
"Every now and then I find it stuck and it's because it tried to suck up wires 90% of the time or climb up my floor lamp's base. ... The no-zone might not solve this because it's not very precise for small areas. ... I plan to buy a wire organizing box to fix this. ... Also If you have long curtains that drape to the floor, set it as a no-go zone for sure."

"I have a roomba we named homewrecker because it leaves a trail of destruction behind it. ... It always knocks over something or gets tangled up in wires."

"The side brush keeps falling off while vacuuming. ... This new model is the only one where the side brush snaps on, instead of using a screw. ... Our house is new, we don’t even have furniture yet, and still the Roomba keeps losing the brush mid job. ... without the side brush it just leaves all the corners and edges dirty. ... I can’t be looking after it monitoring where and when the brush falls off."
"The brush that spins around will sometimes get caught onto something and detaches so easily. ... Next thing I know I'm playing hide and seek trying to find where it is. ... I think it could've been more stable. ... You can still vacuum without the brush attached though, but I think it's pretty vital for pushing dust into the vacuum."

"It can't tell apart floors from carpets, so it'll mop over carpets and dispense water over them, so you need to manually restrict carpet areas on the map as a no-mopping zone."
"it couldn’t just mop by itself"
My S20 will just ignore barriers like this.
I’d actually recommend OP get the S20. It’s just a little bit more but can be had for $400 and has dual brushes + mopping
Had this thing for around a year when i got it it was the cheapest robot vacuum with lidar.after a year here's what i think of IT: It vacuums supriseingly well actually i keep it on medium power because i don't really see a diference betwen medium and turbo power.the mopping thoung isn't briliant it does get very light Dirt of but it doesn't clean dried on stains even with the max Water setting.but its very good for daily maintanance cleaning.i have it set on a schedual so it cleans every day at 10:30 in the morning, and over this 1 Year period nothing has gone bad, it îs still on its original consumabiles I switch the mop every 2 Days with a other mop. The only minor issue is that now when it turns on the lidar sensor makes a teriable almolst tractor like sound when the lidar spins up,in rest there is only minor cosmetic damage,it does get stuck by closing the door to the bathroom by itself. But in my opinion it îs a very good product for the price and i Highly recomand it
Obstacle avoidance and navigation will basically be the same. Both use lidar and structured light. I’d go for the S20 for a vacuum focused robot. Y shaped cleaning patterns are pretty good at removing dust from floor crevices which is something the S40C cannot do.
I ran my old combo Xiaomi on the vacuum + mop mode as it couldn’t just mop by itself and with regular use, the motor became much louder.
I just bought the Xiaomi s20+ without self emptying and after three days the bin was quite full even though my 1C vacuumed daily. I suspect it could be the higher vacuum power on the s20+. Makes think the self emptying might have been a good idea but it would have gotten clogged due to our amount of hair. In Malaysia, the S40C launched and I'm upset since I bought the s20+ last week. 🫤
I think the Xiaomi s20 without the + is sufficient if you don't need to mop. I got the s20+ with the rotary mops that I haven't used yet and the maps on 1c was good enough so the s20 will be sufficient. Plus it is compact sized. My s20+ battery only uses 1 bar to cover a large amount of space. So I think the s20 is sufficient. Get the s20.
This is why I am hesitating on the roborock q10 pf in my country. It is the q10 x5 in US. Will the spare parts be found in 3 years? Only if sales are good enough. The spare parts if too different may not be found so easily. Like the Dreame D20 (only with charging dock) in my country that is not the Dreame D20 Ultra in any way. And so far I have been unable to find the spare parts or know its equivalent elsewhere. For my Xiaomi 1C, I have managed to find parts to it. I have sent it in to get the wheels switched out under warranty, I have changed the filters and brushes at economical prices and I have switched out the batteries twice so far. The new ones are larger capacity but cause the robot vac to be a bit haywire. Perhaps I need to service the front wheel and clean the sensors? Either way, I am undecided between the roborock q10 PF and Xiaomi S20 or S20+. The S20 seems to fit my needs as a basic vacuum and is more compact allowing it to get into slightly tight areas but feels like just a little upgrade over my 1C that still works albeit haywire sometimes. It gets fixated on areas some times. I have put furniture risers ro accommodate the LiDar puck as that was the only hindrance on the new vacuums.
Hi everyone, i bought the same robot because i have a little kid that started crawling around recently and we had to mop and vacuum everyday so the robot was great addition and help for my wife while im at work. My only problem was that the robot couldn’t climb the 3cm lever between rooms, so I made little ramps to help it pass thru rooms and it works perfect. You can use wooden board as well, I hope this will resolve the matter for you as well.
My living room is 3cm higher than my kitchen and could not climb over…
I have 92sqm home and a lot of tile. Xiaomi S20 pro has been amazing. Though using it for 6 months now daily
My 2 cents: - Brush needs to "click", requieres some pressure. Made the same mistake but it never got detached after that. - Cannot go over a 2cm bump to get into my kitchen, but can go over flip flops or similar... Who knows how that works. - Bumps into things, usually not hard, but sometimes yes (again, go figure). - Area that goes over in my aparentement is around 60m2 according to the app, which consumes around half the battery (half in turbo, half in standard, only mopping a small area)
