"The unit was an upgrade from a Roomba S9. That unit did a good job of vacuuming but was very prone to having problems with obstacles. For example, it would launch itself up onto the circular rod -like bases of several of my chairs and become stuck there. They Roborock 10R correctly recognized all of the bases as something to avoid. Some of them get labeled as chair bases and others simply as wires. It has avoided every obstacle."

"significantly worse object avoidance than than the Dreame x40 and L40 ... The best feature of the L40/X40/p10 pro ultra is that they have class leading object avoidance so you don't have to pick up your cat's toys or prep your house every time you want to run the robot meaning you can run it on a daily schedule which will keep your house cleaner. ... I run my X40s daily and they never get stuck on cables, cat toys and other random junk that ends up on the floor."

"Based on the YouTube review below, we picked up a Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 and holy cow the difference is night and day. ... If you go Dreame, make sure you get the tricut brush as well, it's what really changes things. ... We have two Goldens running around the house, and now that I've set up the D10 with tricut brush to run at night right before the X1 Omni, the hair tumbleweeds are gone and I no longer have to clean hair out of the vacuum rollers. ... TL;DR: Non-carpet flooring with pets? Get a Dreame vacuum and a Tricut brush."

"Twin rollers are a bit nicer if you’ve got pets that shed a ton ... Twin rollers are genuinely helpful for pets. They grab more hair and are less prone to tangles compared to the single roller, so that’s the biggest dog-owner benefit."

"The vacuuming is really good at picking up all dog hair (4 dogs, 2 of which are huskies)."

"Yes. It does not spin on Carpet which is the same as Dreame. Dreame however 9 months later implemented the ability to spin the brush on carpet if you wanted to via the app. ... Dreame, meanwhile, it took nearly a year to enable side brush spinning on carpets, and Roborock now faces pressure to implement similar improvements."

"I have an X40, which I wouldn’t recommend for carpet owners even with the tricut brush."

r/RobotVacuumsAre roller mops the only sensible choice now?

Quick answer: Yes Explanation: Whilst spinning mops were more of a "it maintains a clean floor reasonably well" deal. The rollers are a "I can clean the entire house properly without you doing anything" deal. Some will argue they are worse with dried on stains, which I guess is true, but reality is, with my Aqua 10 has rarely seen a stain which it did not remove on the first pass. Anything from like dirty shoe footprints to oil from cooking it picked up in one pass. (If that botters you, you can just quickly spray the dirty stains with some water before it passes over it, so it is a bit soaked I guess, but in my experience the X40 also had problems with such stains). Now lastly maintenance. And honestly, this is the main issue, right now we are using first gen rollers, which the manufacturers didn't really take time to consider how the products themselves would be cleaned. I found that having it vacuum, and then vacuum and mop was the best way to prevent any debris entering the mopping system, so no need to clean it every week, rather every 2 weeks maybe.

Eufy has excellent customer service. They sent me replacement parts for S1 Pro and took a follow-up 2 times to make sure all was working fine. Dreame customer service sucks. I have feeling no 1 over there understand basic English or the translation app they use is joke. I was able to dispute the situation with my credit card and got a refund for $1800. Never buying that crap again. This was my 2nd X40 purchase for my parents.

That would make it non returnable sadly. Weird how it get scratches so easily though because my X40 Ultra has zero scratches after months.

Pleased you are amused. What is the point in telling people bull shit. I've had an L20, L40, X40. The only one with no issues was the L20 and is still going strong. The L40 and X40 were replaced twice. I've had problems with Samsung . . I'm currently running a roborock, useless with obstacle avoidance, excellent on carpet, and a Eufy E28, very good but a very basic app. It isn't just about Dreame it's about giving no bull shit honest opinions

Hmm . . X40 and x50 I tried both poor. L50 best one I've had

r/RobotVacuumsDo mopping robots really replace daily cleaning, or do you still ended up cleaning yourself?

Dreame X40 Ultra here, had it since moving into new house with all hardwood floors and we have not mopped or vacuumed once since. We run it every night (two story house so we run it when we are asleep) have set it up to go daily with a mixture of deep clean, vacuum then mop and fast cleaning throughout the week. The only extra we do is occasionally use the swifter microfibres sweeper to dust behind the couch and around the side board to get any dust out so that Meryl can pick it up (our vacuum is called Meryl Sweep). 100% recommend. Caveat, no kids no pets unless you count the fish tanks.

I am often surprised, and offended at how much difference there is in premium robots (which is what I tend to test, rather than budget or midrange). You should expect, if you pay that much, for a robot to work. This problem is much worse in lawnbots, but there is no condition under which I would purchase a Roomba or Eufy on purpose. Doesn't matter what model. I'm most impressed by Roborock, Dreame and Ecovacs. That said, each model is different. For instance, I thought the X40 was just fine. Didn't blow me out of the water. But I think the X50 is quite good, although it still has some navigation issues. I haven't tested the Monsga line, sorry.

r/RobotVacuumsHelp me choose: Narwal Freo Z Ultra vs. Roborock S8 MaxV vs. Dreame X40 Ultra.

this is easy! Freo Z uses too much water, you have to refill it ALL THE TIME. hard pass. Dreame x40 is.. good... but not great. The S8 MaxV Ultra is truly great.

I did. I thought the x50 was a nice upgrade, but the x40 was ok.

Damn I really wish to have a full review from you on the X40, it's kind of my favorite (bought two, first on December, the second one today, and thank god no need of support just yet) and I always love hearing reviews that compare it to other robot vacuums, because in my eyes and in my experience - it's perfect, yet I hear so many complaints about it that I just keep on praying to never need to use the warranty...

I really appreciate the thorough response man, truly. I hope you never need customer service 💪🏽 and it seems to be a global thing with Dreame, as the complaints go from country to country as I hear them... I just really hope to never need them. And tbh, in my country they didn't bring the Saros 10R, only the 10, so I wasn't so keen in getting it with the vibrating moppad.. Also the retractable Lidar that has expiry times-of-use threw me off a little.. So I ended up considering either another X40 or Ecovacs x8 for the roller-mop, but ecovacs' last release here got destroyed in reviews, and so I just decided to go with what I know (and love, for now lol

Recently got a Dreame X40 Ultra, it’s pretty nice. Can’t think of anything else I’d need from a vacuum. I just change the water containers; liquid detergent usage is pretty minimal so it’ll last months. Love that the mops are detachable magnetic pads instead of the velcro type and it automatically washes & dries them at the base station

Can only speak from my own experience, but I’ve had the X40 since December last year and had no issues with it- apart from a dodgy software update that was fixed in a week. It cleans a large 2 bedroom flat with a short haired dog most days and the communal hallway twice a week all in its stride. The hallway has a set of stairs at the end and never had any problems with its fall avoidance. I would say to use distilled water if like me you live in a hard water area.
