"I upgraded to a roomba with the self emptying thing and I love it."
"Comes with a base station that it blows the content into. ... Super low maintenance that way."
"It runs daily at 9:30 am, recharges and empties itself, then finishes rhe rest around 2 in the afternoon. ... That robot is a wonderful thing."

"They have really good support POLICIES, the agents are hit and miss(most of the time pretty good). Any issue within warranty and you’ll get an instant replacement unit. ... My roomba combo j9+ wouldn’t properly saturate its pad with my floor type so after some replacements they upgraded me to the roomba combo 10 max since it would “saturate its pad while cleaning at the docking station”. This was all done in manufactures warranty. ... Regarding their support, I’d recommend trying to get 1 brand new replacement unit from Roborock whenever you have an issue… let alone six. ... One of iRobots brush rollers broke before the time recommendation in the app, and they sent new brush rollers(plural) without me even asking."
"iRobot’s support is phenomenal. I had a product that didn’t work well in my house and after a couple quick and easy replacement units they upgraded my product."
"I've had my roomba for like 5 years now.. We have 3 big dogs and a cat, in a small house. Still works great, I've replaced the brushes and obviously the filters on it but it still works awesome."

"It’s the best at avoiding dog poop. ... They have the best obstacle avoidance for poop(check a video I have on my account of the Roborock Q Revo Máster plowing through fake dog poop. Also for under 500 the obstacle avoidance won’t even really work with my experience. ... Their obstacle avoidance is decent but it really does do a phenomenal job at avoiding pet waste which is what matters most."
"Yesterday my wife left a six way charger on the floor with six USB cables coming out of it and I think that the robot just vacuumed it and carried on and there was no photo but apparently no problem either."

"Honestly, when I have it on schedule, it keeps the house clean and I don't see any hair at all"
"To me, the most important thing is cleaning all the dirt and leaves, and trash stuck on his fur from the outside on a daily basis... and the robots take care of that."
"literally NOTHING robot works like an iRobot that I’ve seen so far esp the j7 and the 988 those are the strongest in their class"

"Plus they were obnoxiously loud."
"It ’s super loud ... Noise at least on hardwood is easily double the qrevo"
"I am also WFH and will have to pause my J7+ or send it to a different room if I am on a work call where I have to speak"

"The j7 got stuck often, maybe 1 out of 4 cleanings it either sucked up a cat toy or jammed itself under something."
"The charging issues are the most annoying because I have to clean the charging pads 20 times before it starts charging again. ... And the reason I trashed my last Roomba and got a new Roomba was because of the charging pad issue. So i gave roomba 2 chances and both models had the exact same issues"
"All I hear is Alexa saying "your Dumbot is stuck"."

"half the time it isnt running because of a clog in the vaccuum bin or base station. ... The bin is usually easy to fix, but this last time it was the tube that goes to the bag (another expense i didnt have with the shark) and that required disassembly."
"it still can’t make its way through our home without getting stuck. On nothing. ... It’s just been pretty hands on and very frustrating."
"it takes forever to clean. ... it takes at least 2x the amount of time to clean the house."

"It was making phantom rooms I was done playing the delete and re-map until the map gets perfect, which did work for me in the past but I was over it."
"I have a roomba we named homewrecker because it leaves a trail of destruction behind it. ... It always knocks over something or gets tangled up in wires."

I have two dogs and two cats and the j7+ works just fine
r/roomba • Roomba that would stand a chance with a Golden Retriever ->I have the j7 and I have taken it apart more than once to clean it and I'm not super happy with it. I got it at Costco so it might go back before they go belly up. I'll try it again a few more days but I didn't even have it plugged in for 6 months... because we had renovations going on in the house. It's Black Friday week but I prefer to buy from Costco because they do have such a good return policy.
r/RobotVacuums • No carpet, all hardwoods, massive amounts of Bernese mtn dog fur. Any price, USA. ->I recently purchased a QRevo Master and Pro during Black Friday. I replaced a Roomba J7+. I’m fairly happy with the mopping functionality but the obstacle avoidance is…a fraction as good. I assumed with all the tech and AI it would be better or at most marginally worse. But it’s really night and day. The J7 was excellent at avoiding even the smallest out of place objects, a sock, a cord, etc. I know commenters will say to just keep things off the floor. But I bought these things to vacuum when I’m out of the house. The was great with the j7. Everything just feels clean when you get back. These Roborocks on the other hand will just pick up any loose object and drag it around for 30 minutes. A sock, a shirt, a small box. Also if you happen to be walking around while it’s running the vacuums will bump into your feet repeatedly. I’ve seen some discussion of this, but reviewers like vacuum wars still give these a 4.7 for obstacle avoidance. I would say it’s like a 3 at best. I’ve also seen some discussion of it being better on previous firmware versions. I’m curious if that’s true. I’m hoping I can be optimistic a software update could improve this. It seems like the hardware should be more than capable, but it’s just not stacking up right now
r/Roborock • Qrevo Master/Pro obstacle avoidance is extremely sub par ->If you don’t need the mopping I would 100% go with the j7. I got it refurbished for $264. I don’t notice much difference in vacuuming ability. The j7 successfully avoided all the things I listed above. Anything medium sized and most cords it managed to avoid.
r/Roborock • Qrevo Master/Pro obstacle avoidance is extremely sub par ->Pretty darn happy with my roomba j7/9. Comes with a base station that it blows the content into. Super low maintenance that way.
r/germanshepherds • Best Robot Vacuum for Pet Hair Worth Buying Currently? ->I have a roomba j7 and I have two dogs, it's great with dog hair
r/CleaningTips • Best Robot Vacuum And is it worth it? ->I have a J7 as well and it works pretty good but there have been some times when it disconnects from WiFi and I would have to reset the whole vacuum and go through the set up again for it to work again. I think I got my first one about 5 years ago though, so maybe it's been updated since
r/RobotVacuums • Has cleaning performance improved much in the last 10+ years? ->Me, too. This is why I'm here--time to replace Dumbot. This will be my 4th robot vac and definitely not looking at iRobot!
r/RobotVacuums • The 25 most recommend robot vacuums on Reddit, by price (in the past year as of Jul 2025) ->My J7+ has always sucked, in all the wrong ways. I named it Dumbot. All I hear is Alexa saying "your Dumbot is stuck". Never understood the great reviews for it.
r/RobotVacuums • The 25 most recommend robot vacuums on Reddit, by price (in the past year as of Jul 2025) ->I have the Wyze robot vac and a roomba self emptying vac. I vastly prefer the performance of the wyze vac.
r/BuyItForLife • Robot vacuum recommendation? ->For my Roomba, the brushes wear out over time and don't self clean each other as well. itll get bad enough that it starts wrapping around a lot. Then it usually cuts huge holes in the brushes. Not the best design on the roomba j7+ It's about every 2-3 months I need new ones
r/RobotVacuums • Is hair tangling really that problematic? ->I have a roomba we named homewrecker because it leaves a trail of destruction behind it. It always knocks over something or gets tangled up in wires.
r/homeowners • Are robot vacuums worth it? I’ve got 4 small kids and I’m always sweeping up the kitchen. Now I have a crawling baby so I’m thinking about getting a robot vacuum, preferably the mop/vacuum kind but they are so expensive! Curious if they are worth it and an investment. ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
