"A good robovac is a life changer. Even a $350 basic S8. It is a great place to start. ... I promise you that you will not be disappointed by a basic S8. It will change your life even if it can't fit under every piece of furniture you own. ... My two S8s just finished vacuuming our entire house in about 46 minutes. ... While my floors were being cleaned, I sat comfortably on our patio in the cool shade with a slight breeze and composed my far too long response to you while sipping a diet soda and relaxing. ... I will have to spend about four minutes maintaining my two S8s. This will be my entire contribution to my home floor cleaning effort for today. Four minutes!"

"After walking them in rainy or muddy weather, having a robo mop take care of the mess is a real help. ... Without the robot we would need to spend a ton more time mopping. ... the convenienve of not needing to mop the house after you worked for a full day is worth it to us. ... So, 30 minutes for 7 days a week comes down to 3.5 hours of mopping saved. ... if it is rainy/muddy outside, they carry a lot of dirt into the house. ... the mopping robot makes a lot of sense and is a real help."

"I have ours set up through Home Assistant with our Litter Robot. 30 minutes after the Litter Robot signals that it has been used, our robovac automatically vacuums our laundry room where the Litter Robot is kept. It works great!"

"The Anti-Tangle brush is actually Anti-Tangle. All my previous vacuums would get hair tangled in a single run - I'd clean them at least once a week (neato way more) to get all the hair out. After 24 hours, I see 0 hair stuck. Not one. ... That being said I LOVE the anti-tangle brush. 3 Months and I haven't had to clean the brush one time. It's literally perfect for me."

"But the dual roller design has cured the need for constant detangling of the brushes - we have 4 long haired humans and a 4 dogs, one sheds constantly. ... It’s been a game changer."

"The Duo-Divide brush was a game-changer for me. We have long haired women in this house and I've had this thing for 18 months and I've never had to untangle anything from the brushes. It's crazy. I have a Q5 on another floor and I have to religiously clean those brushes. But the Curv? I stopped even checking underneath. There's never anything to untangle."

"I have the roborock QRevo Curv and the difference is dramatic compared to earlier generations of mopping vacs. ... It has scrapers that remove any debris off the mop pads, and washes them with very hot water and air dries them thoroughly. ... I'm blown away by how clean the robot remains month after month."

"It gives up quickly and does not map well. ... For example, first time out, it was unable to leave the kitchen. ... So it mapped the kitchen and a space outside the kitchen that it could see was called a room. But it was only able to see 30% of the actual room. ... It did not update the map as the dreame would each run. ... Sent out for a remap. Got the center room and failed to get the hallway that did not have a threshold to cross, got 20% of another room it could't get in and didn't place a wall where there was a wall."

"make sure the robot has a setting to empty the dustbin periodically or else it will go through a whole run, then try to empty the dustbin and the charging station will get clogged trying to suck the large clump of hair into the dust bag. ... I have a qrevo and really love the robot but the fact roborock doesn't currently have an option to empty the dustbin every 100 sqft or so, means that I have had to set up separate schedules for each room so it goes back to the dock to empty the dustbin between each room. ... It's frustrating. ... Yeah I also hoped they'd update the app to add that but I've had the robot since it first came out a little over a year ago and it doesn't have that yet so unsure if they will ever add that."

"It had a hard time with the thresholds. ... Did not make it over established ramps that the Roomba's (2 different) and the Dreame made without a problem. ... This resulted in a bad map. ... Once the room showed on a map, you could send it to that room and it would jump the threshold 2 out of 3 times. But it had only looked through the door and saw half the room. So it would either mop/vac half the room or get lost when it got to the section it had not mapped. ... It did not update the maps as it went. So it was not possible to get a 'good' map. ... It had trouble with all but one of the thresholds. ... My thresholds are all 3/4" or higher. At least one is a full inch or better. T30 AI is rated to 20mm which is just over 3/4 of an inch."

"That being said, it still doesn't do that all by itself. ... I have a calendar reminder to remove the dock tray once a month and thoroughly clean it. It doesn't take long. That thing reliably develops a dark residue that might be mold, but once a month seems to keep it in check."

r/RobotVacuumsHow Can We ( Vacuum Wars) Catch Real-World Issues in Robot Vacuum Reviews?

One big issue that I haven't seen covered - dustbin *effectiveness.* A HUGE issue on my Q Revo Curv, in a household with dogs, is that the dustbin opening is small - that means that hair and dust has limited room to enter and all just bunches up near that hole, not spreading out throughout the bin. As a result, it gets clogged quickly and 3/4 of the dustbin's volume is wasted. The S8 Pro Ultra I upgraded from had a much wider opening and I never had these issues with it.

You should look at a Roborock. iRobot has been going down hill for years and is on the verge of bankruptcy and Shark is universally panned as terrible robot vacuums. The three brands to look at are Roborock, Dreame, and Mova. If you aren't worried about price, Roborock Black Friday deals mean you can get one of their two top of the line robots (the Qrevo Curv X or the Saros 10R) for pretty decent deals at $850 and $1,050 respectively. I just got the Curv X and after a day of sending it around the house I really like it. Roborock is considered some of the best customer service so that should be important for you.

Just got the same one too. Mops at 70c and cleans and dries them after so no soggy mop smells. Great bit of kit

r/RobotVacuumsWhat is the best robot - no price limit - for a large house with kids and pets and a lazy dad?

I have a Roborock QRevo Curv S5X, it does all of that. Our house is 3600 sq ft, 4 humans, one dog, and I have hand-scraped hardwoods. The floors look great every day. Vacuum daily, mop every other day

Good question. My one dog is small & doesn’t shed. My sister has 4 pugs and it handles her floors (she has same model). Not sure whether the amount of shedding is similar or not.

I have had it since August. The vac can me loud if on the turbo setting, but I rarely use that. Mopping is very quiet. Our bedroom is not near the kitchen/dining/pantry, so it does those at 2am vac then mop (has never woke me up, just have to remember to leave pantry door open before bed). It does my hall/bathroom/bedroom/guest bath/laundry at 10am, then our offices (2) at 5:30pm. Basically it works where we aren’t.

I have never had mine fall downstairs, and there is also the ability to set the “no go” zone there. I will say that I have seen on Reddit that some people got a dud and had to get it replaced, but I (and my sister) have had zero issues and the floors are spotless 🤷🏻‍♀️

r/RobotVacuumsKeep seeing robot vacuums everywhere, have they become as common as washing machines?

Qrevo Curv S5X downstairs and Qrevo Edge S5A upstairs. Main difference is the docking station shape/color. Otherwise equivalent.

Get a roborock QRevo curve or slim. Roborock is one of the top robot vacuum manufacturers. It vacuums and mops. The app is awesome. The charging station empties out the vacuum’s dust bin, cleans and dries the mop, and senses of it needs to re-mop. It won’t be cheap, but it’s what you want.

r/RobotVacuumsWhat robot vacuum are you getting?

Roborock Qrevo CurvX. Had the Edge S5A for a few weeks I got from Prime day sale, but felt like I should’ve went with one with better threshold clearance and obstacle avoidance. Also getting 10% off on top of the sale price makes it seem perfect for price and features.

I found the obstacle avoidance on the Qrevo series to be pretty disappointing. Switched to Dreame L40 and have been very happy. They almost never grab a cord.

Why are robot vacuum model names so confusing? Anyway, I bought the Roborock Q Revo L (Australian model I think?) in the last Amazon sale and it's been lovely. The spinning mop heads actually work better than I expected - they obviously won't pick up everything like stubborn stains but they do a 90% job every time. I have the one with the auto emptying dustbin, auto refilling and auto emptying water tanks, auto mop washing, and it's great - probably the best money I've spent all year. It does tend to get pretty dirty though, and the area where it washes and dries the mops tends to get a bit gunky and needs a good scrub pretty much weekly. Disclaimer: I've never owned a robot vacuum before this, so I could just be wowed by the whole thing in general rather than the specifics of this particular model
