"Insulation instead of reflective layer is quieter ... Can’t stand the crinkly noise produced by reflective layer models. ... I find they’re less noisy than the reflective pads. ... Overall, i find expeds less noisy."
"I have an Exped. Not loud."
"i have several Expeds and I don't think they're that loud at all."

"I recently slept on my Exped, straight on the ground (but in a tent) at 15⁰f and had no issues with the cold."
"We sleep so comfortably, even in 30 F temperatures."
"They are not phony in the sense that the insulation ratings are way off. ... I camped in freezing temps for the last 5 years and am very toasty on every trip."

"I get the best sleep on this ... otherwise I usually wake up every hour uncomfortable, but this is great!"
"Incredibly comfy to boot. ... Best investment I made for camping. ... Throw it on a cot and it’s almost better than my bed at home 100%"
"I also have a deep sleep mat for solo. Def bigger/heavier than basic inflatable but 100% worth it for the comfort."

"used a double wide exped for numerous years with zero issue."
"I've used my Exped for 500miles. I've never had a problem with it. ... Personally, I would only buy Exped or Big Agnes sleeping pads because they're the only ones I've never seen leak."

"didn’t get sore back after a week on it"
"I have a lot of back problems and I can sleep almost better on that then on our mattress at home. ... My husband and I love our Exped mattress, we sleep great on it when we go camping. I tried my friend's cot and had the most debilitating back pain the next day."
"I have bad discs in my neck and back, and can still side sleep on an Exped. ... They are a gamechanger for me."

"is it worth it? I might say no, because there are many competing models out there now that have the similar features and go for cheaper, so that reduces the value in paying so much for an exped branded mat"

"I think the bigger issue with this pad is that it doesn't roll up very compactly. How is this going to fit in your pack?"
"The only drawback is they don’t roll up small."
"it is bulkier and heavier for the same warmth rating."

"Over time, the Exped began to leak ... As best I can tell, the rubber lining inside the fabric begins to slowly degrade and develop pinhole leaks. ... You never hear leaking air. You just wake up in the morning with your hip touching the ground (I’m a side sleeper)."
"Mind you, my Exped mat has never been the same since I camped in a prickle patch."
"Expeds CAN leak"

"the "self-inflate" part is a lie ... Well I haven't and it doesn't. It just sits there."
"You do still need to inflate it yourself but I definitely recommend practicing getting the pressure right. You don't want it so high that you're sleeping on a board, but so low that you sag too much into the pad. It does take a bit to get used to the way it feels when you have it just right."

"the exped still makes noise ... the noise caused by the sleeping bag sliding around on the pad ... I turn over nonstop all night long and am insanely sensitive to noise."
Highly recommend the ExPed deep sleep duo.
r/camping • Couples What do you sleep on? ->my husband and i have the exped deepsleep duo pad in long-wide and i can’t stress enough what a game changer it is. we were lucky enough to get it on sale for $200 and i can’t recommend it enough! though we originally wanted the megamat, we’re mega happy with the deepsleep haha
r/camping • What are you getting with a $200+ sleeping pad ->i see someone else recommended the exped megamat duo, but i’m here to advocate for the exped deepsleep duo in long+wide. best sleep you’ll get if you’re looking for something on the firmer side, and it’s cheaper than the megamat! my husband and i got one last year and so far it’s been easy to setup and pack. we keep ours in a closet and it takes 5-10 minutes to compress and stuff it in the bag, then a couple of hours to self-inflate, and then we top it off by blowing into it for about ten minutes. an air pump would absolutely speed up the process lol, we just haven’t gotten around to buying one
r/CampingGear • 2 person sleeping pad ->I can’t find a recent recommendation for a good sleeping pad for my husband and I. We had the REI camp dreamer for 3 years, until it started leaking and we couldn’t find the leak. We then tried the exped deepSleep duo, but there was not as much cushion. I was about to just do the dreamer again but looks like they are not even selling it anymore. We also have 2 big Agnes’s insulated single pads. They are great for lighter camping but next to each other we slide away and off the pad, they also do not have the cushion the dreamer did, it’s all just air. I would really like to spend under $300 but not sure that is an option. Any recommendations? We might also be willing to do a cot, but I don’t want anything to take up more space in the car than the dreamer did and I can’t seem to find many 2 person cots.
r/CampingGear • Car camping sleeping pad for 2 ->I am a fan of Exped… I grabbed a DeepSleep duo during the sale. Enough room for 2, But not too big if your solo.. i have a single that has held up well, but decided to upgrade as my kid can sleep on the other side when we camp. I’m 6’0 , 200lbs
r/REI • Sleeping pad ->I second all of this. We got the standard duo and plan to get the middle size, bigger but not quite a queen, once our standard duo wears out enough. We also have a shared sleeping bag that we usually leave unzipped unless it’s very cold. The exped mat, whatever size you get, is so comfortable. I often sleep better than I do at home when we’re out camping. Only thing I’ll add is we have the Hest camp pillows, and if size isn’t an issue because you’re car camping, go bigger. We started with the small and ended up exchanging for the medium which is perfect. Also more comfortable than our home pillows. They pack down to half their size and have a great design that allows you to easily wash the covers if you don’t bring pillow covers. Happy camping!
r/camping • how do you sleep comfortably as a couple? ->two kids 11 and 8, we use 2x duo size exped deep sleep 7.5 mats, and we split one parent one kid on each mat using double size sleeping bags works well enough, but I expect at some point the kids will want to be in their own sleeping bags, so we will split the double sleeping bags into separate bags one negative about sharing a double size mat is that the firmness will be set by the heaviest sleeper on the mat, so me (260lbs) setting the mat to my comfort level means my son or daughter always will be sleeping on a firm mat
r/camping • Best sleeping pad solution for a family of 4 ->we use a exped deep sleep duo lw+ size, it's very comfortable, maybe a bit on the firm side (obviously you set the firmness with the amount of air); someone mentioned that it sleeps hot and I agree you might also look into the naturehike double self inflating/deflating air bed; its the same size bed as the deepsleep, but packs up a little bit larger than the deepsleep; it really does inflate and deflate by itself, and is also thicker (4.7 vs 3 inches) I have one of these too and I think it sleeps cooler than the exped deep sleep, it might be because of the way the foam is structured inside the mattress, the exped is a "solid" flat foam sheet, whereas the naturehike appears to be 50-50 air vs foam strips (you can see how it folds up when it deflates), which may let it be cooler on your back https://a.co/d/77cY8j7 good luck!
r/CampingGear • 2 person sleeping pad ->we have the deep sleep 7.5 duo and it's really comfortable, the megamat is thicker so it would theoretically be more cushioned for perhaps more comfort is it worth it? I might say no, because there are many competing models out there now that have the similar features and go for cheaper, so that reduces the value in paying so much for an exped branded mat we needed another mat so we bought a Chinese branded one - by naturehike - and I have to say it's just as comfortable, maybe even more so because it doesn't sleep as hot as the exped - and it was a lot cheaper in price https://a.co/d/4ffG149
r/CampingGear • MegaMat Duo Sleeping Mat - Medium, worth the hype? ->Exped deep sleep comes in under your price. I have the xl double. Fits perfectly in my tent and is heavenly.
r/CampingGear • Car camping sleeping pad for 2 ->https://www.rei.com/product/238243/exped-deepsleep-duo-sleeping-pad?sku=2382430002&store=18&CAWELAID=120217890018998042&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=147758269359&CATCI=pla-2023809122865&cm_mmc=PLA_Google%7C21700000001700551_2382430002%7C2023809122865%7CBA%7C71700000074421743&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=4&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlMfABhCWARIsADGXdy8A6HTjuGGSyI2AdOxdSU3fIZMkxDHfLEQZ5yC4rDmpPNO4XOFwIfwaApX8EALw_wcB I’d recommend this. I get the best sleep on this—otherwise I usually wake up every hour uncomfortable, but this is great!
r/CampingGear • Anyone here tried the Kingcamp air mattress? ->Any Exped Med-Wide pads fit the bill. Incredibly comfy to boot. They are more expensive but a good nights sleep it worth it imo. Best investment I made for camping. I got my Deep Sleep for just over $100 on sale.
r/camping • Need 72in long 3-4in Thick Self Inflating Sleeping Pad ->Indeed. Throw it on a cot and it’s almost better than my bed at home 100%
r/camping • Need 72in long 3-4in Thick Self Inflating Sleeping Pad ->Exped is one of the most popular (for good reason) and on sale at REI currently. We have a Megamat duo mat that is amazingly comfortable. I also have a deep sleep mat for solo. Def bigger/heavier than basic inflatable but 100% worth it for the comfort. They make several different thicknesses depending on what you'd like but even the thinner mats are extremely comfortable and warm.
r/camping • Self Inflating Mat Suggestions? ->Yea I think that's their entry level self inflating mat. Thinner than the others but still warm. I got it to go with my zenbivy and it is great! You do still need to inflate it yourself but I definitely recommend practicing getting the pressure right. You don't want it so high that you're sleeping on a board, but so low that you sag too much into the pad. It does take a bit to get used to the way it feels when you have it just right. I'd probably recommend putting some silicone dabs down on your cot so that it won't slip/slide, or use some kinda of silicon tape for the same reason.
r/camping • Self Inflating Mat Suggestions? ->Exped Deepsleep self inflating pad + Zenbivy system. So comfy! If you need a cot to get higher off the ground to make getting in/out easier then any one that matches of size should work. I’m partial to Coleman Trailhead 2 but most are the same, just make sure of weight capacity if you’re a fluffy boi like me.
r/camping • Best, most "home in my own bed"-like sleep system? ->I have three; Exped Ultra 5R, Exped Flex, and Exped Deep Sleep. Ultra & Flex are my backpacking pads and the Deep Sleep is for car camping. Side and back sleeper that runs hot. Spring/summer/fall in the PNW. Go wide/long since you like to roll around.
